Chapter 132 Breathing

Yan Jie pressed Jiang Hexi's head against his chest and chuckled softly:

"Take a breath—"

Jiang Hexi braced herself against the seat behind her and took a deep breath.

She wished she had just died of suffocation; it would have been better than being so embarrassed that she was digging her toes into the ground.

Yan Jie kissed the top of her head tenderly, then stroked her back with his large hand, gently patting her back to help her breathe.

Jiang Hexi calmed down and regained her composure.

Yan Jie pressed his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling, their lips barely touching. He spoke ambiguously:

"Have you learned it?"

Jiang Hexi looked at his lips that were about to leave his mouth and realized that he was frantically urging her to lean in and kiss him. Her ears turned bright red.

"If you haven't learned it yet, then keep going."

Yan Jie lifted her chin and leaned in to seal her lips with his.

Jiang Hexi learned to breathe through practice, and at one point, while feeling dazed and oxygen-deprived, she wondered if he would keep kissing her endlessly if she didn't reciprocate.

She unconsciously wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back, mimicking his gesture.

As the sun sank deeper into the sky, the light faded, leaving only a thin wisp of cloud at the edge of the distant mountains, which seemed as if a gust of wind could disperse it.

"And the sunset?"

Jiang Hexi sat on the motorcycle, letting Yan Jie hug her from behind, and asked with dissatisfaction, "You promised to watch the sunset, and this is what you let me watch?"

I'll make it up to you next time.

"There won't be a next time. I'll never fall for your tricks again."

Seeing that she was annoyed by the kiss, Yan Jie seized the opportunity and whispered something in her ear:

"My second uncle sent me on a business trip abroad. I'll be gone for more than a month, and it might take two months to get back."

Jiang Hexi tightened her grip on his hand and asked, "Why were you gone for so long?"

"This foreign trade project involves establishing a new energy vehicle industrial base there. The project is complex and involves many intermediaries. We cannot afford any mistakes, so it will take a long time."

Yan Jie said intentionally, "I originally turned down this job, but you took it back for me."

Jiang Hexi said helplessly, "Your second uncle is testing me. What can I do?"

What did he test you on?

"Virtuous, dignified, and understanding of the bigger picture."

"So how did you do on the exam?"

“Excellent,” she thought for a moment and added, “Extremely excellent.”

He couldn't resist kissing her earlobe, his low laughter escaping her ears.

Jiang Hexi asked reluctantly, "When are you leaving?"

Yan Jie lowered his voice and said, "The flight is tomorrow evening."

For a moment, both of them fell silent.

As Jiang Hexi watched the last rays of the sunset fade away, she suddenly decided:

"I want to go to the agricultural college to study crop cultivation practice and application courses, and strive to become a cultured new farmer."

Yan Jie said affirmatively, "That's good too. It'll give you something to do to pass the time, so you don't get distracted by my absence and start overthinking all day."

"Please, don't add your own drama to the story."

Jiang Hexi said truthfully, "I've always wanted to take this course, but I haven't been able to register because of you. Now that you're gone, I can go back to Shenzhen and Hong Kong with peace of mind."

Yan Jie had never seen such a heartless person.

On the way down the mountain, passing the canteen of the racing base, Yan Jie stopped his motorcycle and gestured for Jiang Hexi to get off.

She clung tightly to his waist, refusing to let go.

"No, I'm going home for dinner."

“I’m hungry. You don’t have to eat. Just sit across from me and watch me eat.”

She slapped him on the back. "Didn't you see them honking their horns jokingly the whole way up the mountain? We can't make our relationship public. I don't want to go down."

“They have a life-or-death bond with me and will never tell anyone about this.”

Yan Jie released her hand, stepped to the ground, and took off his helmet, saying:

"If you really don't want to show your face, just wear this helmet into the cafeteria, cover your goggles, and put the food in your mouth from under the helmet. They can't see you anyway, so it doesn't matter if you're embarrassed or not."

Jiang Hexi immediately punched him in the chest, took off her helmet and stuffed it into his arms, threw down a "You're so annoying" comment, jumped off the car and walked towards the cafeteria.

She lifted the curtain and walked in. The dozen or so men sitting inside all turned to look at her. She immediately felt embarrassed and pretended to have entered the wrong room, turning around and walking out the door.

Yan Jie put his arm around her shoulder and turned her around to lead her inside.

A commotion immediately erupted in the cafeteria.

"Shut up, this matter must not be told to anyone, or I will deal with anyone who does."

Old Bai responded, "Since you've finally found someone, we'll definitely keep your mouth shut."

Yan Jie arranged for Jiang Hexi to sit at a table away from those people, then got up and went to the window to get his food.

No sooner had he left than Old Bai arrived with two young men.

Jiang Hexi smiled politely at them.

Old Bai stepped forward, shook her hand, and immediately let go. He then introduced her warmly:

“I’m the team manager, they all call me Lao Bai. These two are Yan Jie’s former technical supervisors, Da Cai and Xiao Jia. We’re here for no other reason than to get to know you.”

Jiang Hexi stood up and said, "My name is Jiang—"

"You are Xi Mei."

Old Bai interrupted her, excitedly saying, "We're all your farming fans. If it's convenient, could you take a picture with us?"

Yan Jie walked over with a tray of food. The three of them had just finished taking a group photo. They hurriedly picked up the autographs and fled in a panic right under his nose.

He placed the plate in front of her and asked with a smile:

"They harassed you?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

Jiang Hexi picked up her chopsticks and started eating. "They are my fans. You should be more polite to my fans in the future."

When Yan Jie rode his motorcycle back to Jiahe Mansion, it was already completely dark outside.

Jiang Hexi got out of the car, took off her helmet, and saw a tall and burly figure standing by the gate illuminated by the car's headlights.

"Big brother, I'm so old, why did you still come out to pick me up?"

"Go in."

Jiang Wenze stared intently at Yan Jie, not even glancing at her.

Jiang Hexi returned the helmet to Yan Jie, and silently said eight words to him as she turned around. Yan Jie immediately understood and nodded.

He watched her enter the gate before taking off his helmet and walking towards Jiang Wenze.

"Did you need something from Mr. Jiang?"

Jiang Wenze didn't waste words with him and went straight to the point: "Are you dating my sister?"

Yan Jie: "Yes."

Jiang Wenze said imposingly, "I only have one question for you. If you meet my expectations, I won't stop you from seeing each other."

Yan Jie: "Please speak, Mr. Jiang."

Jiang Wenze asked directly, "Will you still race in the future?"

Yan Jie: "If the team needs me to compete, I will."

Jiang Wenze issued an expulsion order: "Please leave my sister. The Jiang family does not want you to have any further contact with my sister."

Yan Jie retorted with a single sentence: "Impossible."
