Chapter 14 Reverse Propaganda

As dawn broke, Jiang Hexi's biological clock woke her up.

She reached for her phone on the bedside table and quickly glanced at the time: 5:42.

She sat up in bed, put on her shoes, walked to the wardrobe, picked out a short-sleeved shirt, and went into the bathroom to wash up and change.

Her mind was filled with the village chief's voice calling from downstairs. She was brushing her teeth with foam in her mouth when suddenly she stopped moving and woke up.

No need to farm today!

After rinsing her mouth, Jiang Hexi lay back down on the big bed. She rolled up half of the blanket and took a nice nap.

Ms. Zhou's way of making up for her daughter's shortcomings was simple and brutal: she lavishly bought her all sorts of things.

She took Jiang Hexi shopping at luxury stores for three days straight, buying all the new clothes, hats, and bags for the season. Then they went to a private club for a beauty spa and ate the most authentic local food in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

In addition to accompanying Ms. Zhou throughout her meals and entertainment, Jiang Hexi also bought herself many "magical gadgets".

For example, fascia guns, claw gloves, solar-powered flashlights, long tongs for picking up objects, and sun hats with built-in fans, etc.

She hid all these treasures in her suitcase, planning to sneak them into the wooden house room when Director Chen wasn't looking.

Early Friday morning, she received a text message from Director Chen.

With the show's premiere imminent, Director Chen hoped she would retweet the official Weibo post of "Let's Farm, Rich Second Generation" to promote it, and tag the official Weibo account and each guest.

This is a perfectly reasonable request.

But when she saw the two promotional posters posted by the show's official Twitter account, she was devastated.

The first poster is the sofa photo that netizens jokingly called "The Heirs" during the live stream.

Yan Jie's brows and eyes were as deep as the ocean as he leaned back on the sofa with the posture of a big boss. Shen Yingyu rested his hands on his knees, his peach blossom eyes sparkling with laughter. Chu Yang stood at the back, his youthful vigor undiminished. Jiang Hexi glared at the camera with disdain, while Yu Xiangwan crossed her legs, her mature and sophisticated aura captivating the entire audience.

Jiang Hexi was quite satisfied with the first poster, but she absolutely hated the second one.

That was a candid photo of them being chased by the "fighting chicken" to the banyan tree. They were covered in dirt and grime, but what was more, everyone was so scared that they lost all control of their expressions. The whole poster was noisy and lively, filled with a strong rural atmosphere.

She wanted to replace the second poster before the repost spread.

Smiling: [Director Chen, both posters are taking up too much space. In my opinion, just keep one for the promotional poster.]

Someone who doesn't know the director, Chen, said: "Then leave the second one."

Smiling: [First picture.]

Smiling: [After all, it's a story about farming, rich kids; the first image better suits the image of the second-generation chaebol heirs.]

An unknown director, Chen: [If you insist on putting it that way, then the second picture fits the theme of farming better.]

Smiling: [Director Chen, if you need more photos, I have some here.]

An unknown director named Chen: [Where did you get these photos?]

Smiling: [We all own private jets, so getting together isn't difficult. Whatever kind of photos you want, we'll take them for you on the spot.]

An unknown director, Chen: [Extravagantly extravagant.]

An unknown director, Chen: [The publicity strategy decided by the production team won't change because of you alone. Focus on reposting and promoting, and don't come looking for me unless it's absolutely necessary.]

Smiling: [...]

Director Chen rejected Jiang Hexi's proposal outright.

She remembered the WeChat group she had created before and posted the official Weibo post to the "Chaebol Five" group.

Smiling face: [The second promotional poster is really overdone.]

Smiling: [I confronted Director Chen, strongly condemning his precipitous decline in aesthetic taste, and demanded that he remove the poster and formally apologize to the five of us guests.]

Yu Meiren: [And the result?]

Smiling: [Director Chen, relying on his position, manipulated the entire creative team and rejected my request.]

Young White Poplar: [Sister Jiang, I don't like the second poster either. It's incredibly ugly and seriously lowers my overall appearance.]

Yu the Great failed to control the floods: [So, how do you plan to resolve this issue?]

Smiling: [Director Chen has more than one unflattering photo of us.]

Smiling: [If we don't join forces to resist to the end this time, he can release the first ugly photo on his official Weibo account, and then he can release the second one.]

Yu Meiren: [Director Chen is indeed capable of doing something so despicable.]

Young White Poplar: [Sister Jiang, we'll do whatever you say. Whatever you tell us to do, we'll do.]

Jie: [It's you, not me.]

Smiling face: [@Jie, please pay attention to group unity.]

Smiling: [As the group admin, I have the right to kick people out.]

Jie: [He becomes arrogant with the slightest selfishness and acts recklessly when given a little power.]

Smilingly: [To the person upstairs, every time you come down the mountain so easily, don't forget who's carrying the load for you. Did they just pick up any eggs along the way for free?]

Jie: [You say it.]

Smiling: [Director Chen asked us to retweet the official Weibo post, so we'll give him a reverse publicity boost.]

Smiling: [I'll post this on Weibo first, and you can follow suit using the same format.]

Jiang Hexi decided to give Director Chen a hard time.

She retweeted the official Weibo post of "Let's Farm, Rich Second Generation," offering a scathing critique and tagging the official program team and five guests:

"Director Chen started out as a documentary director, and you know what I mean when he directs variety shows."

After seeing Jiang Hexi's post, Yu Xiangwan was deeply moved by her emotions and fearlessly posted on Weibo:

"I've participated in the recording of many variety shows, but this one is the most original. We refused product placement and prohibited taking shortcuts in live-streaming e-commerce. If we hadn't rented a thousand acres of land, the production team would have made us plow the land with hoes on our shoulders!"
