Chapter 159 Little Duck

The Bentley sped along the road to the airport.

Jiang Wenjing observed Jiang Hexi the whole time; her emotions were written all over her face, and he found it all quite fascinating.

At first, she just stared helplessly at the skylight, looking like she was going crazy, completely insane.

Later, he went into berserk mode, grabbed his phone and unleashed a torrent of abuse, determined to wake the person on the other end up.

Finally, he slumped into his chair and gave up, adopting a "never talk to them again" attitude, letting whoever wanted to do what they wanted.

"Little sister, what's wrong with you?"

"This matter is complicated, but in short, someone in the group wants to rebel."

Jiang Hexi said in utter despair, "As the group leader, the people under my command are in chaos, which makes me look very incompetent."

"Yan Jie?"

"Second brother, how did you guess it was him?"

"With just the five of you, apart from Yan Jie, who else can't you handle?"

Jiang Wenjing scoffed coldly: "Little sister, you have nothing to do with Yan Jie. If he likes to be a troublemaker, just let him be. Just do your job properly. In any case, Director Chen won't blame you in the end."

Jiang Hexi responded to him softly, but the worry on her face did not dissipate at all.

Right now, nothing seems to be happening, but once he breaks that rule, she'll be finished along with him.

The plane arrived in northern Henan at noon.

Jiang Hexi boarded the business vehicle sent by the program team and drove for more than an hour on the newly opened highway, arriving at Canglang Village at 2 p.m.

The entire journey was two hours shorter than the previous mountain road trip.

Jiang Hexi spent the entire journey planning how to revitalize the village's tourism industry.

She got off the bus carrying her luggage, and someone reached out to help her from behind. She said "thank you" and turned around to see that the person was Yan Jie.

After the strange occurrences came a complete panic.

Jiang Hexi stared blankly at the live-streaming camera beside her, forcing herself to remain calm as she followed him forward.

"Prince Yan, why are you here so early today?"

"I overslept this morning and came by private jet."

She was incredibly envious. She was the first one to get out of bed and had gone through all that trouble, yet he arrived before her.

"By taking the new expressway, the travel time from the city to Canglang Village has been significantly reduced—"

"Sis, come quick! Something terrible has happened!"

Chu Yang interrupted their conversation, his face contorted in a mournful expression, and stomped his foot forcefully, saying:

"Ducks... ducks—sigh, you'll see when you come over."

Jiang Hexi hurried towards the duck shed behind the house.

From afar, two mallard male ducks could be seen standing outside the cage, quacking loudly. Upon closer inspection, two female ducks were nestled on the hay, seemingly...incubating their eggs.

Where did the egg come from?

"It's all because of those two mallard ducks!"

Chu Yang, filled with grief and indignation, accused, "Sister, do you know how many duck eggs this mother duck has incubated?"

Jiang Hexi glanced at him questioningly.

"Nine chicks in one litter, eleven chicks in one litter."

Chu Yang squatted on the ground and wailed, "Sister, raising four ducks is already enough to drive me crazy, but now I have to raise twenty-four ducks, it's practically killing me."

Yan Jie calmly walked to the duck shed and stood there.

"Look at the mess you've made! What have you driven Chu Yang to?"

Jiang Hexi gave him a good scolding:

"They said they'd treat everyone to duck eggs, but now the ducklings have hatched. What kind of nonsense is this?"

"All you do all day is wander around feeding cabbage leaves and leave others to clean up your messes. If you don't handle this properly, I'm not done with you!"

She left all that mess behind and stormed off.

Chu Yang and Yan Jie in front of the camera both looked incredulous, while the vast number of netizens outside the camera were all intimidated by her imposing presence.

[Ahem, if I heard correctly, Xi-mei was just cursing Yan-wang?]

[w(?Д?)w, Xi-mei actually dared to insult Yan-wang, who gave her the guts?! ahhhhhh!]

[Am I the only one who cares that Xi-mei cursed so vehemently in one go? Turns out... um... this isn't the first time she's cursed Yan-wang...]

[The King of Hell's attitude is very suspicious! He doesn't give me the cold shoulder, doesn't argue, and doesn't retaliate; he even seems to enjoy it! Oh my god, could the Yanxi CP I'm shipping be real?]

[Shut up, you Yanxi CP fans! Yan Wang just didn't react yet; he didn't expect Xi Mei to dare insult him like that. Once he comes to his senses, Xi Mei will be finished.]

Yan Jie really didn't expect Jiang Hexi to dare to talk back to him like that, especially in front of the live broadcast camera.

He awkwardly touched his nose and saw Chu Yang looking at him with a bitter expression.

"You don't want to raise ducks?"

"Brother, I would rather die than raise ducks."

Chu Yang kept pouring out his grievances:

"Feeding them bran twice a day, morning and evening, is one thing, but I also have to clean the duck shed every day and take them for walks in the fields. The worst part is that they haven't even produced any eggs yet!"

“Raising chickens on the hilltop can at least yield some eggs, but with these ducks, before you’ve even had a chance to eat a single duck egg, they’re about to hatch into ducklings. There are twenty ducks at a time, and I have to treat them like royalty.”

Chu Yang has become more adept at reading the room now. He brought up Jiang Hexi as an example, saying:

"Brother, Sister Jiang only snapped at you because she couldn't stand it anymore. Before, when you kept four ducks as pets, she could turn a blind eye. But now that you're keeping twenty-four ducks as pets, how can she stand it?"

Yan Jie looked at the two mallard ducks with a sense of frustration. He hadn't expected them to be so clever, managing to produce twenty ducklings for him in one go.

"These ducks will need your help to raise for a while longer. Once all the ducklings have hatched, I will pack them up and send them to Professor Luo."

"Professor Luo and his wife by Sanxi Lake?"

"The ducks I raise will certainly not become meat on someone else's chopping board."

Yan Jie said proudly, "They should be free-range on the shore of Sanxi Lake, becoming a scenic feature of the ecological wetland park, which is what is commonly known as landscape ducks."

Chu Yang felt like his face was about to crack from the joke.

He was incredibly fortunate to have served the famous ornamental ducks on the shores of Sanxi Lake.

[A magnificent duck! Hahahaha, this is the first time I've ever heard of such a noble duck lineage!]

The ducks of the chaebol family are indeed extraordinary; even their lives are a cut above those of other ducks.

[What good deeds did this duck do in its past life to become the King of Looks' pet and be treated with such high regard?]

[Free meals, a wife, and a job—what an incredible life! It's making even a working-class person like me cringe. I'm genuinely envious.]

[Your Highness, I advise you to keep your voice down. Don't let Xi Mei hear you, or you'll get a good scolding from her, hmph!]
