Chapter 21 Lessons

Jiang Hexi couldn't afford to offend Yan Jie.

Although she still has face to save, it might feel good to slap someone in the face for a moment, but if she offends a high-IQ, cunning man like Yama, she won't even know how she died the next second.

After all, with Director Chen as a precedent, she couldn't follow in his footsteps.

Jiang Hexi shifted her focus to Chu Yang.

Before she could even hand over the heart-shaped egg she had picked up, Chu Yang snatched the plate back, and the smile on her face vanished.

Nan Xi saw all of this, and she felt that her efforts were thankless and she was losing face.

Yan Jie couldn't eat a bowl of plain porridge no matter what he looked at. He called out to the kitchen:

"Auntie, do you have any side dishes like dried radish?"

"I'm cooking it now, it'll be ready soon."

The older woman cherished this hard-won job and, fearing Yan Jie would find her slow, after much deliberation, reluctantly complained to Nan Xi:

“That girl occupied two stoves in the morning to fry eggs and wouldn’t let me help. She ruined more than a dozen eggs before she stopped, which delayed the cooking.”

Nan Xi had never been so humiliated, especially in front of the guests on a live broadcast.

She couldn't swallow this insult and retorted:

"You're a nanny who gets up later than me, and you still have the nerve to say I'm taking up two stoves?"

"You have no manners and dare to complain about customers in public? Who gave you the audacity?"

Seeing the aunt fidgeting and almost bursting into tears, Jiang Hexi felt a surge of sadness and was too heartbroken to speak.

She had heard the village chief mention that the aunt lived in the next village, and the mountain road was difficult to travel. It would take her at least half an hour to ride her electric bike over. She had to leave home at 4:30 every morning to make the journey. How could she not want to get there early?

"Auntie, cook the vegetables first, then we'll talk after breakfast."

"My dear daughter, I'll listen to you."

The aunt wiped away her tears and went back to the kitchen. The village chief was already waiting at the door in his electric tricycle. Seeing that they hadn't come out, he shouted at the top of his lungs:

"Why are you eating so slowly today? It's been twenty minutes and you're still not at work? It's almost dawn, and there are still over a hundred acres of land at the edge of the village that haven't been plowed. How can you afford to be delayed like this?"

Nan Xi slammed the bowl of porridge down on the table, threw down her chopsticks, and said, "I'm full."

Chu Yang, quite inappropriately, asked her with concern, "Sister, you're only eating so little. You'll starve when you're working."

"What can we do?"

Nan Xi, self-righteously standing up for everyone, said sarcastically:

"I heard him shouting non-stop all morning, urging me on and on. Doesn't he let people eat? How much farm work can be saved by wasting so little time? He has no manners at all."

The village chief was so insulted that his inherently honest and simple nature as a farmer left him speechless and at a loss for words.

Country folk are just that rugged and bold. He had no ill intentions. He only spoke to the five chaebols like that because of their previous familiarity, but he ended up being smeared with dirty water.

Is this woman crazy? Criticizing the nanny and village chief like that on live stream—who's going to put up with her princess syndrome?

【You're the one who's sick, your whole family is sick! The nanny gets up late and thinks she's right, the village chief keeps yelling and shouting all day, and he thinks he's civilized!】

[Don't spread rumors upstairs. If Nan Xi hadn't been taking up two stoves, the auntie wouldn't have been unable to cook the dishes. This has nothing to do with whether the auntie got up early or not. The village chief was just urging people on time. The five-member tycoon group didn't say anything to him before, so why is Nan Xi making veiled accusations right away?]

[Just for the fact that Nan Xi made a heart-shaped egg for Yan Wang, she has been sentenced to death by Yan Wang's fans.]

[Nan Xi has no manners, get out of my favorite variety show!]

Everyone in the living room put down their chopsticks, except for Jiang Hexi, who was still holding her bowl, sipping her porridge in small mouthfuls. Two fried eggs sat on a small plate, but she hadn't eaten a single bite.

"Wanwan, did I tell you about going to work?"

"No."

Seeing that she still had the leisure to sit there and drink porridge, Yu Xiangwan knew that she was preparing a big move, so she continued along with her words.

"On my first day at the company, my dad called me into his office and told me a little story that my grandfather had experienced."

“When my grandfather first arrived in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, he was dirt poor. To make a living, he worked as a vegetable cutter in the kitchen. His teacher was very fierce. If he did anything that didn’t meet his expectations, he would be scolded severely.”

“My grandfather gets scolded every day, but luckily he’s used to being easygoing and doesn’t take it to heart. But another worker couldn’t stand it. Once, he was scolded so badly that he talked back to his master. From then on, his master never scolded him again. And guess what happened?”

Yu Xiangwan asked, "What is it?"

"That worker was chopping vegetables, and his knife skills were wrong. He cut off his index finger. In those days, there was no way to reattach a severed finger."

Jiang Hexi said in an extremely calm tone, "My dad said that when you're out working, whatever your master says goes. You have no right to talk back, and you certainly don't have the right to act out in front of your master."

After saying that, she slammed down her bowl and walked towards the village chief outside the door.

The living room was emptied out; everyone followed them outside and got into the village chief's tricycle.

Nanxi's fingernails dug fiercely into her palm.

She stared at the untouched fried eggs on the table. The more her hands ached, the more she had to learn to endure it. She pretended not to understand Jiang Hexi's sarcasm and got up to walk out the door.

[This is so satisfying! Xi-mei tore Nan Xi apart, giving me a huge dose of revenge.]

[Super cool, super satisfying, and incredibly awesome! From now on, Ximei, you are my goddess!]
