Chu Yang followed, asking with concern, "Sister, were you stung by a bee?"
Jiang Hexi scoffed, "What a joke. With my gear, even if the queen bee chases after me, it won't be able to sting me."
The village chief had worried about her for nothing. Watching her strut back to move the beehives with an air of self-importance, he couldn't help but give her a brief instruction:
"Stop running around with the beehives, you hear me?"
Jiang Hexi waved her hand without turning her head, "I heard you."
Yan Jie was stung by bees twice, and two large welts quickly swelled up on his arm.
He was scratching his wound in frustration when he looked up and saw Jiang Hexi walking back with an air of indifference.
"Your Highness, how many times were you stung by bees?" Jiang Hexi asked with concern as soon as she arrived.
"How could I possibly be stung by a bee?"
Yan Jie casually placed his arm at his side. "Judging from your appearance, I can tell you weren't stung by a bee either."
"You noticed?"
Jiang Hexi pointed to the beehives on the vehicle and domineeringly ordered him to work, "I can see that you're not going to bring me the biggest beehive? What are you still standing here for?"
After being lectured, Yan Jie reluctantly took down the largest beehive and stuffed it into her arms.
Jiang Hexi picked up the beehives, turned around and walked away with a flourish.
A sharp pain shot through his waist, but Yan Jie didn't even look. He pinched the bee between two fingers with practiced ease and then pulled out its stinger.
His expression was contorted in pain.
After treating the sting wound, Shen Yingyu came over to take over his shift and said, "Leave this to me, you go and treat your wound quickly."
Yan Jie muttered to himself, “Everyone, including Uncle Zhong, was stung by bees, except for Xi Mei who was unharmed.”
Shen Yingyu was genuinely astonished. "She ran all the way to a major disaster site, and she didn't get stung by bees?"
Yan Jie gently shook his head and instructed him, "Don't tell Xi Mei that I was stung by a bee."
Shen Yingyu watched him walk back, clutching his aching back. He made up his mind that no matter how stuffy it was, he would dress like Xi Mei tomorrow and protect himself fully.
