The agricultural drone that Jiang Hexi rented arrived the next day.
She and Yan Jie had arranged to go to the field together to apply fertilizer to the wheat, but she waited all morning and he never returned from the village committee.
I might as well not wait any longer.
She hopped on her electric scooter, loaded with an agricultural drone, and headed to the fields.
Seeing this, Chu Yang hurriedly caught up and reached out to stop her, saying:
"Sister, are you really going to apply the fertilizer by yourself? Our compound fertilizer is rationed. If it's wasted, some wheat won't get enough fertilizer."
Jiang Hexi snapped at him, "If you're afraid of trouble, then don't follow me."
Chu Yang, though ordered to stand still, couldn't help but continue to persuade her:
"Sis, why don't you wait for Brother Yan? Maybe he'll be back soon."
"I'm practicing with quicklime, waiting for him to do something."
Jiang Hexi threw down those words, drove off on her electric scooter, and Chu Yang immediately took off after her.
The two of them spent a long time fiddling with and studying the buttons by the pond, finally figuring out the actual meaning of each button after referring to the instruction manual.
Chu Yang packed quicklime into the medicine box, assembled the drone, and then voluntarily stepped aside.
Jiang Hexi turned the joystick inward, unlocked the drone, and it took off smoothly. As the multi-rotor took off, it swept away a cloud of dust from the dirt road.
Chu Yang exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, that's awesome!"
Jiang Hexi maneuvered the drone, swaying it left and right, until it reached the top of the drained pond.
Chu Yang took out the instruction manual and began to guide them from the side:
"Sister, you need to stand directly behind the aircraft. It will be easier to operate it that way. The aircraft's current takeoff altitude is too low. The manual recommends a flight altitude of over three meters."
Jiang Hexi turned the left joystick upwards, raising the drone to a height of four meters:
Will this work?
"This height meets the standard, sis. You can now press the button to sprinkle lime."
Jiang Hexi trusted him unconditionally, so when he said it was okay to sow the seeds, she pressed the orange button.
The drone hovered in mid-air, continuously spraying lime powder from the spray nozzle. A gust of evil wind swept in from the boundless wilderness, violently pushing the quicklime backward.
Before Jiang Hexi could even react, he was covered in quicklime powder!
Fortunately, she closed her eyes in time, and her eyes were not injured.
She pressed the one-key return button, quickly retracting the drone, then numbly turned her head to look at Chu Yang, whose head was covered in lime powder, and gritted her teeth, saying:
"What have I ever done to you that you would do this to me!"

The moment the two tiny white figures made of quicklime stared at each other was hilarious; only their eyes were black, the rest of them were completely white.
[Xi Mei was used to Yan Wang's orders; she did whatever he said. But when Xiao Bai Yang took over, she ended up looking like this mess.]
[Urgent! We need Yan Wang back quickly! Xi Mei can't withstand Xiao Bai Yang's torment!]
Yan Jie hurriedly returned to the wooden building from the village committee.
He strode into the living room, looked around but didn't see Jiang Hexi, and grabbed a passerby at the gate to ask, "Where's Xi-mei?"
Chai Fei looked at him in surprise. "Didn't she take a drone to the wheat field to apply fertilizer? What, she didn't come with you?"
Yan Jie's utterly dejected expression said it all.
We agreed to leave at ten o'clock, but because he was too busy at the village committee, he was two hours late and rushed back. In the end, he still got back late.
Yan Jie turned and walked towards the door, but Director Chen called after him:
"Jiang Hexi was worried about wasting compound fertilizer, so instead of applying it to the wheat field, she spread quicklime in the pond—"
Director Chen couldn't hold back his laughter and his voice cracked as he spoke, and the staff around him couldn't help but chuckle.
Upon hearing the laughter, Yan Jie knew she must have created some memorable scene again, and abruptly asked:
Where is Chu Yang?
Upon hearing the name, the staff couldn't help but burst into laughter.
The Wuling minivan, fully loaded with fertilizer, stopped at the fork in the road leading to the pond.
Yan Jie got out of the car and slammed the door shut.
Even though he was already confident, his eyelids still twitched violently when he saw Jiang Hexi, covered in white dust, piloting the drone.
The agricultural drone hovered above the pond at an extremely low altitude, its extremely distorted flight posture looking ugly no matter how you looked at it.
He lowered his head, unable to bear it any longer, and strode towards her.
Chu Yang, holding the instruction manual, directed from the front:
"Sis, we're getting ready to return. Move to the side and keep the drone elevated so it doesn't crash into the pond."
Jiang Hexi ran to the upwind side, raised the left joystick, and lifted the drone up.
Yan Jie walked up behind her and asked, "What are you two doing?"
"Sprinkle lime powder into the pond."
Jiang Hexi piloted the drone back, unable to hide his pride, and said, "I'm the one who sprinkled the lime powder into most of this pond."
Yan Jie removed a piece of white ash from her hair and placed it under her eyelids, asking, "What is this?"
Jiang Hexi was so embarrassed she wanted to disappear, but she still forced herself to say:
"If you walk by the river often, you're bound to get your shoes wet. If I sprinkle lime powder into the pond, how can I not get some quicklime on my feet?"
"I've walked along the river and never gotten my shoes wet."
Yan Jie reached out his hand to her, gesturing for her to bring the remote control over.
Seeing his domineering attitude, Jiang Hexi had no choice but to hand him the remote control.
