Chapter 87 Farewell

Jiang Wenjing overheard the conversation outside while inside the RV.

He knew better than anyone what the two men were arguing about.

Jiang Hexi might find these matters difficult to handle, but he was very experienced and could get rid of these two people in no time.

"Little sister, I'll go with you to Qianjia Banquet. Mr. Yan and Mr. Shi will stay for the barbecue. That's settled then, let's go."

Seeing him leave, Jiang Hexi lifted her foot and followed.

Yan Jie watched the brother and sister walk away. Having personally experienced the power of "paraquat," he found its destructive force to be truly formidable.

The brother and sister walked one after the other on the country road.

Without turning his head, Jiang Wenjing asked her, "Little sister, those two are pursuing you so relentlessly, what are you thinking?"

"Yan Jie didn't pursue me."

Jiang Hexi said with absolute certainty, "I guess he had a grudge against Shi Jianan before, and the reason he treated me like this was to deliberately trip up Shi Jianan."

This explains why Yan Jie treated her one way before, but after Shi Jianan arrived, he treated her differently, treating her exceptionally well.

Jiang Wenjing chuckled softly.

Seeing that he didn't believe her, Jiang Hexi brought up something and said, "Second brother, do you know what Yan Jie's life motto is?"

"What?"

"He doesn't talk about feelings; women only affect his racing speed."

Jiang Wenjing stopped in his tracks. "Didn't he retire?"

“A man like Yan Wang, who is strong-willed and never gives up, will definitely return to the competition.”

As soon as Jiang Hexi finished speaking, Jiang Wenjing turned around and walked back. His murderous look made it clear that he was going to kill Yan Jie.

She rushed over and blocked his path:

"Second brother, what are you doing?"

"That guy surnamed Yan has no intention of dating, yet he dares to mess with you. I'm going to beat him up."

"If you really beat him up, how am I supposed to stay on the farming reality show afterwards?"

Jiang Hexi's words woke him up:

"Yan Jie is a sharp-tongued and cunning man. He's as petty as a wheat awn and never holds grudges. I finally managed to build a good relationship with him and become his trusted partner. Now that you've caused this trouble, I'm sure he'll kill me first."

"He dares?!"

"He definitely wouldn't dare when you're around, but what if you're not?"

Jiang Hexi comforted him, saying, "I farm in the countryside, and you're so far away. Even if something happens, you can't help me, can you?"

Jiang Wenjing was successfully persuaded by these words.

"Second brother, you can't even get a meal here, but I'm thriving here."

Jiang Hexi advised him, "So you don't need to worry about my affairs."

Jiang Wenjing calmly thought about it and realized that he really shouldn't have acted impulsively.

"Grandpa is waiting for my reply. What do you mean by Shi Jianan?"

"I'm not interested in anyone right now."

Looking at the boundless wheat field, Jiang Hexi said with unprecedented seriousness, "Second brother, I just want to cultivate this thousand acres of land well."

When Yu Xiangwan woke up in the afternoon, there was no one in the entire wooden building.

She brewed herself a cup of Biluochun tea and was waiting for it to cool down when she heard noises coming from a room on the first floor.

She followed the sound and, through the half-open door, saw Xie Wanyi packing her luggage inside.

Guests participating in the recording of the next episode usually don't pack their luggage; his doing so indicates that his schedule has ended.

Yu Xiangwan originally intended to take a look and leave, but Xie Wanyi seemed to sense something and looked up into her eyes.

The two looked at each other through a crack in the door, the years they had missed each other standing between them, neither of them could get past the other.

"Wanwan, there's something I'd like to ask you for help with."

"What's up?"

Xie Wanyi looked at the overflowing luggage and said, "There are some things I'd like to store here with you. Is that convenient for you?"

"What is it that you can't take with you, yet insist on leaving it here with me?" Yu Xiangwan looked at him coldly and said, "Do you think I'm picking up trash?"

"A thermos, a baseball cap, and a watch."

Xie Wanyi ignored her sarcasm and continued, "I'll be back. I can't fit all this stuff in here, so I'd like to store it with you temporarily. Would you like to come in and take a look?"

Yu Xiangwan pushed open the door and went in. She looked at the thermos and immediately recognized it as the debut gift she had given him back then.

This cup doesn't keep the temperature very well.

She picked up the thermos, and could still feel the cold night outside the film set, warming its heartbeat herself.

"This thing is so rotten, it should have been thrown away a long time ago. Why are you still keeping it?"

Xie Wanyi murmured, "What you were able to warm up back then, I can definitely warm up too."

Yu Xiangwan wanted to throw the thermos into the trash can as a way of letting go of the past, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.

It's easy to lose something, but it's hard to admit that you care about it.

She had to admit that when she picked up this thermos, her heart was beating just as fast as it had been back then.

That baseball cap was a piece of equipment she used to put on his head to conceal his movements when he was somewhat famous.

In the early hours of the morning, they went out hand in hand on Que Nan Street. The shops were deserted and there were few people on the street. They looked at the night view and the neon lights, passing by the bustling night market unnoticed. They stood at the end of the street and laughed heartily.

The two stood facing each other, reminiscing about the past, and saw deep regret in each other's eyes.

That last luxury watch was the last birthday gift she gave him.

It has no real meaning; it's just about appearances.

She picked up the watch and saw that the minute hand was moving backward, while the numbers on the dial showed that the time had gone back two years. She looked at him in astonishment.

"I modified the mechanical device and turned back time."

Xie Wanyi's eyes welled with tears as she said self-deprecatingly:

"When you broke up with me, I agreed without saying a word, and I've regretted it ever since."

"It's not that I regret breaking up, but that I didn't even have the right to choose for myself back then. My fate was in the hands of the agency. You were right to break up with me."

"I've thought about it countless times, what would happen if we did it all over again? I've come up with countless solutions, each one of which involves protecting you behind me and walking firmly with you. But now I don't even have the chance to do it."

Yu Xiangwan picked up the three items and left.

"Wanwan..."

Xie Wanyi suddenly pulled her into his arms. The moment their eyes met, her gaze softened, and he forcefully kissed her lips.

Yu Xiangwan admitted that she still had feelings for him and that she was indeed infatuated when they kissed.

She lived an open and honest life, and instinctively returned his kiss.

Sounds came from the living room, as if someone had returned to the wooden building.

Xie Wanyi embraced her and led her to the door, slamming it shut with a "bang" and pinning her against it, kissing her passionately.

As Yu Xiangwan's reason raced wildly, she bit his lip, pushed him away, and said to him in a low voice:

"Go away—"

She acts entirely according to her own will, able to start and stop at will, and will no longer let him control her emotions.

Xie Wanyi bit her bleeding lip and said with difficulty, "I will come back again."
