"Wanwan, I really didn't know they would come."
Jiang Hexi retorted to prove her innocence, "Look at how scared I was just now, screaming at the top of my lungs. Was that an act?"
Yu Xiangwan reluctantly believed her.
Jiang Hexi breathed a slight sigh of relief, having salvaged the fragile friendship, when she heard Yan Jie hold her hand and say:
"Why are your hands so cold? The movie hasn't even started yet, why are you so scared?"
In the darkened screening room, she watched him continue his self-directed and self-acted speech:
"With your cowardly nature, you dare to come out and watch a horror movie? You'll end up scaring yourself so much that you end up in the hospital. How am I supposed to explain that to your parents?"
"Come on, I'll take you outside to get some sun."
Yan Jie got up from his chair, took her hand and led her out of the seat, then wrapped his arms around her waist and walked straight down the steps.
Jiang Hexi couldn't break free from his grasp, so she turned to look at Yu Xiangwan and said:
"Wanwan, you must stay strong while I'm gone. Don't faint from fright."
Yu Xiangwan watched resentfully as she disappeared into the doorway. She was the one who insisted on watching a horror movie, but she was the one who was abandoned in this dark movie theater.
That scumbag, I'll definitely settle the score with her later.
"Wanwan, the horror movie is starting," Xie Wanyi reminded her.
Yu Xiangwan looked at the big screen and saw a monstrous demon with bloodshot eyes suddenly open its bloody maw and swallow the entire screen in one gulp.
She screamed in shock and huddled up in a ball.
Xie Wanyi lowered the armrest between the seats and sat down next to her.
"Wanwan, don't be afraid."
"What am I afraid of? What do I have to be afraid of?"
After Yu Xiangwan stubbornly finished saying those words, she turned her head and saw the camera focus on the mouth of the evil spirit. Under the flying tongue, there were scattered white bones everywhere.
She couldn't help but throw herself into his arms, tugging at his clothes and wailing, "What kind of horror movie did Xi Mei choose? Quick, block the screen!"
Xie Wanyi hugged her and unfolded her coat to cover her, leaving only a small gap so that she could peek out when she couldn't resist.
"Where did you put it?"
"It's still in my throat."
Undeterred, Yu Xiangwan asked, "Was this film shot inside the body of an evil spirit?"
Xie Wanyi looked down at her and said, "For now."
Yu Xiangwan peeked at the screen and saw a bright red thing moving back and forth in the middle. She wondered:
What is that?
"The uvula in the middle of the throat."
As the evil spirit swallowed, the entire group of protagonists slid into the bottomless abyss. Terrified, Yu Xiangwan grabbed Xie Wanyi's neck and cried out incessantly:
"What a terrible movie Xi Mei picked! She's really screwed me over this time!"
Xie Wanyi patted her back gently, her eyes crinkling with a comforting smile as she looked at her head:
"It's okay, I'll keep watch for you. I'll call you when it gets to the exciting part."
Jiang Hexi never expected that her unexpected move would become a divine assist in the reconciliation of the Shuangwan couple.
As she stepped out of the movie theater, she saw the setting sun and asked Yan Jie:
Why did you trick me into coming out?
"shop."
Yan Jie led her ahead, not hearing footsteps following behind. Turning around, he saw her standing still in place and couldn't help but say:
"What's wrong?"
Jiang Hexi lowered her eyes, looking at the shadow on the ground, and said:
"Actually, I couldn't get over the hurdle of thousands of acres of wheat being flooded, but I still decided to participate in the farming reality show. I had to force myself to get through that mess."
She looked up at him uneasily, her eyes darting around, and said:
"The five members of the chaebol group cannot be missing. My relationship with you cannot be made public for the time being, and I cannot go shopping with you."
Yan Jie walked up to her and gave a sneer:
"I thought you regretted being with me. It's just a secret relationship, isn't it?"
When no one was around, he reached out and ruffled her hair, saying:
"Sure, I'll play along if you like thrills."
"I am not seeking thrills."
Jiang Hexi was led forward by him, still protesting, "This has never happened before, don't just spout nonsense."
Yan Jie led her to the open-air parking lot.
He took a helmet off the motorcycle, put it on her head, and chuckled as he fastened the strap, saying something to her:
"Is this discreet enough? Do you think anyone will recognize you?"
Jiang Hexi lifted her brown goggles and asked, "Where are you taking me?"
Yan Jie smirked and said with a roguish grin, "Let's go somewhere where no one can recognize us."
He fastened his helmet, straddled the motorcycle with his long legs, started the engine, and the machine vibrated with a series of low hums.
She stepped onto the bike, pressed her face against his back, and wrapped her arms tightly around his waist.
Yan Jie sped along the road on his motorcycle.
The evening wind whistled past the edge of his helmet as Jiang Hexi closed his eyes, savoring the ultimate racing thrill, and followed the motorcycle as it weaved through the traffic.
Without any fear, she lay on his broad back, just like when she waded through the water that rainy night, feeling very stable and secure.
Yan Jie drove to the mountain training ground of the racing base.
He glanced briefly at the gatekeeper with his goggles, and then proceeded with the green light all the way to the foot of the mountain.
Then I stepped on the gas and sped up the winding dirt road toward the top of the mountain.
Racing cars were coming down the mountain all the way.
Jiang Hexi didn't know how they recognized Yan Jie. Every race car they encountered was honking its horn frantically, and some even stopped their cars halfway down the road, sticking their heads out of the windows and saying:
"Hey, Brother Yan brought his girlfriend back."
Yan Jie ignored them all and charged straight up.
When he encountered the last race car coming off the road, he braked and said to the person across the street who had rolled down their window:
"Old Bai, stop them halfway up the mountain and don't let them rush up."
“Sure,” Lao Bai glanced at the girl wearing a helmet behind him and said very readily, “Okay, I’ll do you that favor.”
Yan Jie rushed up the last slope and successfully reached the top of the mountain.
He parked his car on the mountain road with the best view, took off his helmet, and tidied his messy hair.
Seeing that Jiang Hexi was still sitting in the back seat, he reached out and took off her helmet, saying with slight surprise:
"Why is your face so red? Are you sulking?"
Seeing that his helmet was gone, Jiang Hexi felt his last shred of modesty had been torn away. He grabbed the helmet back, clutching it to his chest, and said in shame and anger:
"Don't touch my helmet. What did you bring me here for?"
"Watching the sunset—"
Jiang Hexi looked towards the end of the continuous mountains, where golden rays of light burst forth, illuminating half the sky. The setting sun hung in the clouds, seemingly about to fall, its beauty staining the white clouds.
"Then I'll kiss you."
Jiang Hexi looked in the direction of his voice and was then pressed against his neck and kissed.
They kissed in the afterglow of the setting sun, their kiss unrestrained and passionate.
