Chapter Nine: The Young Man Under the Bright Moon
Time flies, and Yun Yao's days as Qin Rao's contract lover don't seem to be as difficult as she imagined.
Putting aside Qin Rao's initial coercion and enticement, after they officially started their relationship, Qin Rao was a perfect lover from any perspective.
She almost always obeyed the boy's every whim. As long as the boy made any request, even if he didn't actually ask, even if it was just something he mentioned unintentionally, she would do it for him without considering the cost.
As an older female tycoon who is used to spending money like water, Qin Rao's "pampering" of the young man with money can be described as exaggerated.
Not to mention the extravagant and wasteful arrangements made for the boy's food, clothing, and shelter, even the servants who had served the family for many years were required to serve the boy as if they were serving her.
Not to mention, whenever Qin Rao had the chance, she would take the boy to various high-society parties and to all sorts of unheard-of entertainment venues.
She stayed by the boy's side every step of the way, allowing him to experience the ultimate enjoyment that most people in the world never have the chance to experience or even know about.
If any outsider knew about their interactions, they would surely think that Qin Rao was head over heels in love with the young man.
Young people who have grown up in a simple, ivory tower-like environment will inevitably be influenced by this dramatic and colorful "new world" and the feeling of being favored as the darlings of the world, and may even gradually sink into it.
However, for Yun Yao, he only felt annoyance.
Yun Yao was raised with great care by his maternal grandparents. His grandmother, a Chinese literature professor, was loving and humorous, while his mother, a classical dance choreographer, was gentle and affectionate. Under their influence, he fell in love with literature, music, dance, and all beauty that could resonate with his soul.
This is also why he chose to study classical dance, not only because he has a talent for dancing, but also because when he dances freely to music, he seems to be able to merge into that spiritual realm.
He can be the moon over the river in Tang and Song poems, the bitterly cold snow in the frontier, or just a passing breeze or a drifting autumn leaf... He can become everything in dance.
Learning classical dance is tough, especially for boys with more demanding physical conditions, but he persevered through it.
He possessed the delicate gentleness of a mother and the rationality and self-discipline of a grandfather. He was always strict with himself and dared not slack off for a single day.
Later, the successive deaths of his maternal grandparents and mother cast a shadow over his heart.
But the essence of his soul had not changed. It was just that compared to his previous carefree life, he was more able to understand and empathize with the life and death separations in the world, and he understood the sorrow and joy in the music.
That's how he grew up, and that's how he became the Yun Yao we know today.
If it weren't for his father's affair, Yun Yao thought he would never have had any connection with someone like Qin Rao in his entire life.
The boy knew from the beginning that he and Qin Rao were not on the same path at all.
So no matter how many things Qin Rao did that seemed like true love or pampering for him, Yun Yao was only confused. Shouldn't something as precious as love be something that only like-minded people with a deep connection should have?
Spiritual harmony is more important than physical harmony.
Therefore, he never presumptuously believed in others' feelings.
Moreover, precisely because he saw things so clearly and always had his own plans for his studies and life, he was actually quite helpless and annoyed by Qin Rao's exaggerated behavior.
Qin Rao frequently disrupted Yun Yao's carefully planned life and study schedule. However, Yun Yao couldn't do anything about it, after all, she was his creditor, and he was burdened with a dishonorable contract. He tried his best to maintain his own dignity while forcing himself to deal with Qin Rao's various sudden whims and transgressive tests.
After repeatedly refusing Qin Rao's extravagant arrangements for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation to no avail, Yun Yao gave up on communicating with her and treated herself as a puppet to be manipulated, letting Qin Rao do as she pleased.
What Yun Yao really couldn't stand was that Qin Rao often disregarded his wishes and used various means to make him go to all sorts of extravagant parties.
A group of exquisitely dressed and luxurious people, living a life of debauchery and playing games that they consider themselves superior, Yun Yao really didn't understand the point of it all.
Qin Rao said that experiencing more things would broaden her horizons and increase her knowledge.
Yun Yao witnessed it, but that was all; he remained calm and didn't think it had anything to do with him.
Moreover, these things took up the time he had originally planned for dance practice and study. This inevitably made him feel frustrated.
On this day, the academy officially started its winter break, and Yun Yao was escorted back to the villa by the servants of the Qin family who had been waiting outside.
He politely declined the servants' offers to carry his bag, and after thanking the driver, he returned to the room in the villa where he studied.
But before they could study in peace for long, Qin Rao returned.
Yun Yao noticed that Qin Rao seemed to be watching her more closely lately. It was as if she was observing something, but the more Yun Yao remained calm, the more Qin Rao would try to probe her.
This time, Qin Rao said she would take him on a trip to a warmer coastal area further south during the winter vacation, and attend some cruise parties organized by wealthy people along the way.
"This is the first time Margaret Cruises has hosted such a private banquet. It was sponsored by a long-established wealthy family from Southeast Asia. Honey, look at this, isn't it interesting?"
Qin Rao handed Yun Yao a beautifully packaged cruise ship brochure.
Here we go again. Yun Yao sighed inwardly. He politely flipped through a few pages before closing the book, and looked up at Qin Rao, saying, "It looks pretty good, but I already have other plans for winter break. Thank you for the invitation."
“Baby, we’ve been together for so long, why are you still being so polite with me? I wish you could be more unrestrained with me…” Qin Rao leaned closer to the boy and kissed the corner of his lips as if she were very affectionate.
She asked softly, "What arrangements did you originally make?"
Yun Yao couldn't avoid her closeness, so she could only smile and reply, "I've already found a part-time job during the winter break, as a dance teacher's assistant. Also, I plan to visit my father again in the next couple of days."
Qin Rao nodded on the surface, but in her heart she was rapidly calculating how to change the boy's mind and get him to agree to go to the cruise ship party with her.
There are many exciting things to do at this cruise party, and she can't let the boy miss out.
So far, all her methods that could make most of her prey fall for her seem to have no effect on Yun Yao.
Qin Rao was a little surprised, but at the same time, this increase in the game's difficulty made her even more excited.
No wonder she had her eye on her for so long and spent so much effort and money to finally get her hands on this top-quality item.
That's right, this is her favorite "game" besides making money.
From body to mind, they completely tamed a pure, unruly, and beautiful young man, gradually corrupting him with money and desire, luring him into slow and depraved decline.
Once they are completely dependent on her, on money and privilege, and have become the most greedy, sycophantic, and ugly creatures, then kick them away, sending them plummeting from heaven to hell, leaving the once proud ones kneeling at her feet, wailing and fawning.
This moment marked the climax of her game, a moment that always captivated her. She loved the feeling of manipulating other people's lives.
She was like a twisted demon of desire, not only devouring the flesh and blood of young people, but also their souls, and she didn't care whether she ruined their lives.
This time, she encountered the biggest challenge with Yun Yao, who was also the lover she had liked the most over the years, but the more she liked him, the more she wanted to destroy him.
This boy, who hung high in the sky like the bright moon, still radiated his own pure light even after falling into her palm, often making her feel a little uneasy.
Perhaps, even when he is completely tamed, even when the game is over, she will not let him go...
Who wouldn't want to keep a moon hidden away, even if it's an extinguished moon?
