Chapter Thirteen: The Storm is Brewing

Chapter Thirteen: The Storm is Brewing

Yunyao's phone has rung for the third time.

Knowing he could no longer turn a blind eye, he sighed and answered the phone.

Qin Rao's voice, though tinged with amusement, came through the phone: "Baby, why aren't you answering the phone? Have you forgotten what I told you yesterday?"

Yun Yao remained silent for a moment before saying softly, "Qin Rao, I have already refused many times."

There was a pause on the other end of the phone, then Qin Rao's voice, filled with affection, rang out again: "Okay, okay, it's alright, baby. If you don't like this job, we'll find another one. I'll have my secretary pick one out for you."

Yun Yao closed his eyes briefly, and patiently repeated what he had said many times before: "I really thank you, Qin Rao. But I don't plan to work for your company, nor do I plan to work for any of your friends' organizations. I can find a job on my own, so please don't worry about me."

Qin Rao, who had already had the driver take her to the entrance of the dance academy, sneered inwardly when she heard the young man's unhurried words on the phone. With a father who held her back, what good job could he possibly find? And how could it compare to the high-benefit position she had arranged internally? This was something so many people could only dream of.

Qin Rao was also puzzled by Yun Yao's stubborn insistence. His biggest concern right now was finding a job after graduation. She had offered him help in his time of need, yet he was so ungrateful.

Of course, it's impossible to say that Qin Rao had no ulterior motives in letting Yun Yao work at her company.

She has recently discovered some new pleasures, and the thought of forcing a calm and composed beauty like Yun Yao to try it out in the office makes her feel restless.

Even if they did nothing, it was pleasing to the eye that Yun Yao could always be by her side.

Qin Rao, with her flirtatious and perverse nature, was herself curious as to why she could still look at Yun Yao with endless admiration.

It's been two years. No lover has ever stayed by her side for so long before. On the contrary, she finds Yun Yao more and more pleasing to the eye.

Even the originally malicious "pampering" gradually made her unable to distinguish between truth and falsehood.

"Okay, honey, let's not talk about this anymore. You're still at school, right? I've already had the driver park the car at the south gate of your school. Come out now."

Yun Yao was quite helpless about Qin Rao's unauthorized arrival to pick him up. His freedom was not his own, and he couldn't refuse, so he could only end his dance practice early, pack up, and head out of the school gate.

Qin Rao had her driver bring her favorite luxury car this time. The car had a large interior, was very comfortable, and had multiple functions. There was also an adjustable soundproof partition between the driver and the back seat.

She saw Yun Yao approach the car and, without waiting for him to hesitate, pulled him into the car.

The car doors closed automatically, the soundproof barrier rose, and the car started moving smoothly and silently.

Inside the car, however, the atmosphere began to heat up...

"Honey, I've been busy out here for the past two months and haven't spent much time with you. Don't you miss me at all? You even forgot to text me yesterday. Tell me, how do you want me to punish you?"

Qin Rao bit Yun Yao's lips hard, and only when she saw a little blood appear on those beautiful, thin lips did she feel a little better.

Then, her red lips, like a cunning fish, darted upwards, brushing against his beautifully shaped nose. And her fingers had already expertly slipped inside, following the contours of his clothes…

Yun Yao felt that if he didn't say something now, it would be difficult to get off the bus today.

He first grasped the woman's wandering hands, then slightly turned his head away, avoiding her fiery red lips. He then softly explained, "As I told you yesterday, finding a job is my own business. I appreciate your willingness to help, but I really don't have that intention..."

Suddenly, Qin Rao placed a finger on Yun Yao's lips. She looked directly at him, her pupils churning with dark emotions. "Shh... baby, let's not talk about this now. Let's relax, okay?"

Yun Yao looked into her eyes, closed his eyes briefly, and nodded gently without a choice.

He had no choice but to agree to Qin Rao's requests anytime, anywhere.

...

As night fell, what should have been a half-hour drive turned into a nearly two-hour detour by the Qin family's driver.

When Yun Yao was led out of the car by Qin Rao, he felt as if a fire was burning inside him. He deeply felt that his plan to become a boring, wooden figure and make Qin Rao dislike him seemed to have failed.

For two years, he had been unable to escape this dreary life. He wasn't a qualified "actor" either; he was just an ordinary person being manipulated. He simply couldn't understand why Qin Rao's interest in him remained undiminished for two years, given that he hadn't done anything to flatter or take the initiative.

His handsome appearance, which everyone praised since childhood, became a source of trouble and burden for him.

the next day.

Yun Yao was woken up by a cell phone ringing. After returning home last night, Qin Rao had dragged him into the bathroom and spent quite a bit of time with him, so they both went to bed late today.

Yun Yao found his phone among a pile of clothes. The caller was a lawyer from the law firm that had been handling his father's case.

Yun Yao quickly answered the phone.

Meanwhile, Qin Rao, who had also been awakened by the ringing of the bell, received the message that her subordinate had sent her that morning.

Two years after the verdict in Yun Yao's father's case, a new and dramatic turn of events occurred.

The court received a new batch of witness testimonies and physical evidence, and some of the people who were originally convicted as principal offenders in the first instance actually filed for a retrial.

Qin Rao also learned that the person in charge of handling this major case had been suddenly transferred the previous week. A new leader had been parachuted in, and things were starting to look tense…

Inside a top-tier law firm in downtown Hangzhou, Yun Yao and Qin Rao, along with their legal team, reviewed the existing documents and the latest news regarding the case.

Qin Rao also used her own secret connections to find out some inside information, but the situation was not optimistic.

Compared to two years ago, many of the existing staff have been transferred or dismissed by new leaders. However, judging from the series of actions taken by higher authorities in recent days, a second trial is inevitable.

The verdict of Yun Yao's father as an accomplice in the first instance may also become unpredictable due to this rather unexpected retrial.

"There's a lot of room for maneuver here," the lawyer told Yunyao and the others. Due to the special nature of Yunyao's father's case and the wide range of connections involved, it was already a very rare outcome that a verdict was reached in the first instance. In cases of economic crimes involving multiple people, the distinction between principal offenders and accomplices is unclear, and everything depends on the legal teams behind each party gathering evidence favorable to their side and carrying out related operations.

"You need to be mentally prepared for this." The lawyer told Yunyao that the main culprit in the first instance had definitely come prepared by filing for a retrial at this sensitive time.

If they win the second trial and are reduced from principal offender to accomplice, someone will definitely be pushed forward to "take responsibility." After all, wouldn't it be ridiculous for such a big case to have no principal offender? This is the most insidious and unpredictable time, when all sorts of powerful figures will display their extraordinary abilities.

Yun Yao's face was pale. He felt a ridiculous sense that all his two years of forbearance and effort had been in vain.

Seeing his grim expression, Qin Rao told the lawyer to go home first.

She hugged Yun Yao and, unusually seriously, coaxed her, "Don't be afraid. I'll ask around again. After all, we paid such a large sum of money back. When it comes to shifting blame, it might not be your father's turn. And to be honest, among these people, your father's actual crime wasn't a huge deal, but it wasn't insignificant either. If the situation is favorable, he could become a marginal figure in the case."

However, the situation became increasingly serious. Because the case was to be reopened, Yun Yao's father was re-detained.

During his final visit to his father before being taken into custody, the man, who had already received a message from his lawyer, looked panicked. He told Yun Yao that the main culprits who had suddenly launched the retrial were actually a small group of relatives and friends within their own group. Their network of connections was very complex, and they had been lying low for two years, perhaps waiting for an opportunity.

Among this group, Yun Yao's father was the least influential. This terrified the man, who felt he was about to be sacrificed.

Yun Yao comforted his father, but as he left the visiting room, he himself felt quite lost and worried.

He thought that his father's economic crimes deserved punishment, whether it was imprisonment or paying back debts; they would accept it. But if he had been framed and pushed out by someone else, that would be too unfair.

But what could he do? These things were all too far removed from ordinary people like him...

Two years later, Yun Yao once again felt lost and desperate.
