Chapter 713 Just an Acquaintance

Wang Xiaohai was resting on an ancient recliner in Ganyang Palace, with Heilin on his left and Heisen on his right.

The three of them formed a circle and surrounded the front of the Lady Queen's bedroom, and sent an unarmed female official in to serve the Lady Queen. There was no door to the bedroom, so if the female official had any ill intentions, as long as she made a loud noise, the two guards and ministers would rush in.

Although Heilin and Heisen were appointed as the Minister of Guards and granted an independent mansion, the two still regarded themselves as the personal guards of the former, protecting the Lady Queen at all times, and had no intention of returning to live in the mansion they were awarded.

"Imperial Master, you should take a rest first. We will notify you if there is a situation that we cannot handle." said the two guard ministers.

The two of them decided that one would guard the first half of the night and the other would guard the second half.

The next day.

Wang Xiaohai slept very soundly. If there was any danger, his premonition would wake him up immediately.

"I miss sleeping and working hard." Wang Xiaohai sighed.

After leaving Zhou State, he may never have to sleep again.

A loud noise was heard outside Ganyang Palace. Wang Xiaohai immediately jumped out of the recliner and walked out of the palace gate.

Li Wu and several soldiers were standing in front of the palace, arguing with several palace maids who were blocking them from entering.

"Li Wu, what are you doing!" Wang Xiaohai shouted.

"National Master."

Li Wu stopped and several palace maids retreated to the side of the stairs.

"We forced an assassin into a house and sent soldiers to surround it," Li Wu said. "But he was guarding the door. We couldn't get in, so we had to hold him at bay."

"You've surrounded an assassin?" Wang Xiaohai asked excitedly, "This is incredible! Take me to see it!"

Wang Xiaohai had just taken two steps when he suddenly realized that the Queen was still in Ganyang Palace. Every second he protected her would give him some influence, so there was no need to take risks. If someone came to assassinate the Queen right after he left, he would still be able to advance to the next level, but he would feel frustrated.

"I won't go, otherwise there will be no one to protect the Lady Queen." Wang Xiaohai knew that the two guards and ministers could not stop these fellow traitors. "You guys find some steel chains and firewood, burn the house down, smoke and fire, I don't believe he can still hide in there and not come out. If you catch him, remember to tie him up with thick ropes and iron chains, and then bring him to me."

"yes!"

Li Wu left with his soldiers, not daring to ask any more questions. He was worried that Wang Xiaohai was still holding a grudge against him for his betrayal.

"You did a good job. No one can be released without the consent of the two guard ministers." Wang Xiaohai said as he turned around and walked back to Ganyang Palace.

"Do you think the Imperial Master is particularly handsome?" Several palace maids whispered after Wang Xiaohai left.

"I didn't see the Imperial Master with his family. Is he single? Even if he isn't, you can still take me as your concubine."

"Okay, stop being so infatuated and get back to work!" urged one of the oldest palace maids.

The two guards and ministers stood in front of the bedroom, motionless like two iron towers, only their eyeballs moved with Wang Xiaohai's movements.

"Are you two numb?" Wang Xiaohai asked.

"No, we're just trying to save energy. We're too lazy to do anything unnecessary." The two black-clad guards said, "This is a form of semi-rest for us. What happened at the door just now?"

"General Li Wu has surrounded an assassin. Do you two want to go and see?" Wang Xiaohai found a chair and sat down.

"Not interested." The two of them didn't move even their hair except their lips.

What a strange way of practicing.

The palace maid brought in the breakfast prepared by the imperial kitchen. There were nine dishes in total, mostly porridge and noodles.

"Your Majesty, breakfast has been served." A palace maid knelt in front of the Emperor's bedroom.

After Shu Huang finished dressing with the help of the personal maid from the princess's mansion, he walked towards the long table in the center of Ganyang Palace.

The female tasting official used silver chopsticks to pick up a small piece of each dish and put it on a plate for tasting.

Ten minutes later, Emperor Shu sat on the main seat to eat and waved to Wang Xiaohai and Heilin Heisen to come and eat together.

The two guards and ministers did not dare to eat more and only took a bun.

But Wang Xiaohai was not polite. He used his chopsticks to pick up all the food on the table, and even reached out to scoop up some soup from the soup pot in front of Shu Huang.

"Don't you know how to maintain proper hygiene? You casually put your chopsticks into my soup pot." Shu Huang said, "If foreign envoys see this, they will mistakenly think that our country has no etiquette."

"It's okay. We saw it, so what? Can they eat us?" Wang Xiaohai said, "If you don't accept it, we'll beat them until they obey."

"Don't use violence to solve everything." Shu Huang had already eaten his fill and put down his chopsticks.

"If foreign countries had etiquette, they wouldn't be fighting us so often," Wang Xiaohai said. "Ritual is just a facade. Besides, how I eat is none of other people's business. You're just too cautious, and that's why you're so ineffective."

Wang Xiaohai spoke so directly and criticized without mercy. He did not treat Shu Huang as a person of noble status at all, but treated him just like an ordinary person.

Heilin and Heisen had nothing to say. Most of them had been practicing martial arts since childhood, so they had no say in these knowledge and principles.

"I'm going to Zhengyang Palace to attend court." Emperor Shu said as he stood up and walked out of Ganyang Palace.

The two guards and ministers immediately followed behind him, and Wang Xiaohai also stood up and followed. When he stepped out of the gate of Ganyang Palace, he saw several palace maids who were cleaning up stuffing their uneaten buns into their arms.

Outside the Ganyang Palace, there was a sedan chair carried by eight people prepared by the imperial guards. The Emperor Shu walked into the sedan chair with the help of her maids. The bearers lifted the sedan chair, and everyone headed towards the Zhengyang Palace in a mighty procession.

The civil and military officials arrived earlier than the emperor and were already waiting in the Zhengyang Palace. Wang Xiaohai waited outside the palace and asked two guards and ministers to accompany the emperor into the palace for the morning audience.

The voices of civil and military officials kept coming from the Zhengyang Palace, and Wang Xiaohai leaned on the railing to look out.

Suddenly, a hundred-man team of soldiers came from a distance, carrying a person tied with ropes and chains on a stretcher, and walked towards Zhengyang Palace.

When they were still twenty meters away from Zhengyang Palace—

Wang Xiaohai jumped off the railing, ran down the stairs, came to the team of soldiers, and found that the leader was Li Wu.

"Have you caught the assassin?" Wang Xiaohai asked.

"That's right. In order to save his life, he honestly surrendered to us and let us tie him up." Li Wu said proudly, and pulled the chain on the assassin's body. The chain made a "clattering" sound, and the assassin's body turned over, his face facing everyone.

"Tanke!"

Wang Xiaohai was very surprised. He didn't expect that the person who was arrested was Tang Ke!

"Wang Xiaohai!" Tang Ke also saw Wang Xiaohai. "If you want to kill me, do it. Don't try to insult me. I have plenty of ways to commit suicide."

"Grandmaster, do you know him?" General Li Wu was a little puzzled. He thought to himself, how could he capture any assassin who was known to the Grandmaster? Could it be that all the assassins in the palace were connected to the Grandmaster? Then, was the Grandmaster also... He didn't dare to think about it anymore! He always felt that there was something wrong with the Grandmaster, otherwise he wouldn't have planned to arrest Wang Xiaohai and Lin Cun in the princess's mansion.

"Just an acquaintance, not a friend," Wang Xiaohai replied.

"Just an acquaintance..." Tank sighed.
