"Now let's go to Zhengde Hall and invite the prince and the late emperor's concubines."
Princess Shu suddenly felt that her behavior was a bit rebellious and a bit of a betrayal to her ancestors. Her ancestors would definitely not want a princess to become the queen, so she began to hesitate.
This is her personality. She finds it difficult to make decisions when faced with big things. It seems that she still needs Wang Xiaohai to give her some advice.
"Teacher, do you think my ancestors will blame me?" asked Princess Shu.
Wang Xiaohai was stunned, then realized that Princess Shu was hesitating again. Last time, Zhou Jian hesitated to kill the third prince, so the two were forced to flee the palace and attacked again with the help of 10,000 Yulin troops.
"General Guan Zeyuan and Commander Yan Zhuang, you two go and invite the late emperor's princes and concubines over. We will just wait in the Zhengyang Palace." Wang Xiaohai said to the Yulin Army generals in the palace.
"yes."
Guan Zeyuan and others did not dare to disobey Wang Xiaohai's order, so they had to lead their troops to Zhengde Hall and leave a thousand soldiers in Zhengyang Hall to intimidate all officials.
"Teacher, you haven't answered my question yet." Princess Shu continued to ask after seeing Guan Zeyuan and others leave.
"How could your ancestors blame you? You're overthinking it!" Wang Xiaohai replied.
"But I broke the rules set by our ancestors."
"But they can't possibly blame you!" Wang Xiaohai looked at the officials whispering in the hall. "They've all turned to dry bones. How can they possibly crawl out of the ground and blame you? Besides, you saved the Zhou Kingdom. If you hadn't become the new emperor, the Zhou Kingdom would have perished."
"Why would it be destroyed?" Princess Shu thought Wang Xiaohai was exaggerating. "Will the two nearby countries attack?"
"Those people are much more terrifying than those in the neighboring countries."
"You mean the assassins?" Princess Shu said, "But they are few in number and pose no threat to the country as a whole."
"Those guys are much more powerful than you think," Wang Xiaohai said. "They're just not united. Otherwise, they would have occupied Zhou State long ago."
"Your father was assassinated by them," Wang Xiaohai said, "and letting someone else ascend the throne will also lead to assassination."
"I won't be assassinated?"
"Because I'm by your side!" Wang Xiaohai said, "I'm quite confident in my own abilities. I think if I fight alone, none of them can be my opponent."
"But you can't stay by my side and protect me forever!" Princess Shu sighed.
"They can't assassinate you forever. When I leave, they will leave too." Wang Xiaohai saw the Yulin soldiers escorting an old eunuch. "Don't hesitate. You can't give up halfway. You have to be determined, okay?"
"Reporting to Her Royal Highness, we found this old eunuch hiding in a corner crying, so we captured him," said the Yulin soldier.
"Why did you arrest him?" Wang Xiaohai asked, "Who is this?"
"This is the eunuch who served the third prince Zhou Jian's mother." Princess Shu had not been to the palace for a long time, but she still had an impression of this old eunuch.
"Oh?" Wang Xiaohai stared at the old eunuch and asked, "Where did Zhou Jian go?"
"The prince...he is dead!" the old eunuch burst into tears.
"How did he die?" Wang Xiaohai and Princess Shu asked at the same time.
Could it be that Zhou Jian had committed suicide after his life was at the end of his rope? They both found this hard to believe. They both thought Zhou Jian wasn't like that. How could he commit suicide with a broken arm and still dream of becoming emperor? The only possible reason was that he was murdered by someone else.
"Master Lan Ze stabbed me through the heart with his sword," the old eunuch said. "We trusted these masters too much. They are cold-blooded and ruthless. Once they find we are of no use, they abandon us immediately or even kill us!"
Princess Shu glanced at Wang Xiaohai.
"I'm not that kind of person." Wang Xiaohai explained to Princess Shu, "I'm much better than Lan Ze. I won't kill my own companions out of thin air. You can rest assured about that."
"I also don't think you are that kind of person!" Princess Shu always felt that there was a layer of fog covering Wang Xiaohai's body, making it difficult for her to see clearly. She didn't understand Wang Xiaohai's background or purpose of helping her at all, but there was one thing she believed - Wang Xiaohai would not harm her after cooperating with her!
"How do I know you are not lying to us?" Wang Xiaohai did not fully believe what the old eunuch said.
"The body of the third prince is behind the Zhengyang Palace. I can take you to see it." The old eunuch stopped crying and wiped his tears with his dirty sleeves. "I just hope that Princess Shu can bury the third prince properly. As long as he can be buried in the imperial mausoleum, I will die without regrets!" As he said this, he kowtowed to Princess Shu nine times in a row, breaking his forehead and causing blood to flow into his eyes.
"Alright, I'll have a few soldiers go with you. Uncle Heilin, go and confirm it." Princess Shu said to a black-clad guard following behind her, "Take a few palace soldiers with you. If it's really Zhou Jian, find him a place in the imperial mausoleum and bury him with generous gifts."
"I understand." Hei Lin clasped his fists and took the old eunuch to leave.
Several palace soldiers followed Hei Lin out of Zhengyang Palace.
Half an hour later.
Guan Zeyuan and General Yan Zhuang walked into the Zhengyang Palace with a group of princes and the late emperor's concubines. Everyone seemed a little uncomfortable walking from the sunlight into the shadow.
"Sister Shuyi, you have to avenge your brother!" The fifth prince ran towards Princess Shu, "This general of the Yulin Army attacked me and slapped me!" The fifth prince's first words were to complain.
"If you don't offend him, he won't dare to fight with you. I guess you must have said something very excessive to him." Wang Xiaohai stretched out his hand to block the fifth prince, preventing him from approaching Princess Shu.
"What's too much?" The Fifth Prince seemed very angry. "He was just a servant to begin with. How dare he be so rude to our royal family? Isn't it normal for him to be beaten and scolded? Besides, who the hell are you? How dare you stop me?"
