Chapter 19 Eighteen: A Childless Middle-Aged Man

As soon as Su Changde walked up to the little servant, he frowned and asked in a low voice.

"What are you doing here? The Emperor is in a bad mood. Are you here to get scolded?"

The young servant also lowered his voice, somewhat hesitant, but finally spoke.

“Master, Consort Jing has arrived and brought me something to give to the Emperor. I was going to handle it the same way as before, but Consort Jing kept watching me, so I couldn’t just dispose of it directly.”

Upon hearing that Consort Jing was bringing something over, Su Changde's eyes lit up immediately.

"Where is it? Bring it here so I can take a look."

The young servant was somewhat puzzled by his master's excited expression.

"Master, the things are here. See what we should do with them."

Upon receiving the item, Su Changde immediately smiled. He was certain that if this item were presented to the Emperor, the Emperor would be pleased.

"You wait here. I'll take the things to the Emperor now, and you can just wait to receive your reward."

After Su Changde finished speaking, he grabbed his things and hurriedly ran inside.

Such a commotion made Mo Yuhan, who was already furious, even angrier. He raised his head and gave Su Changde a cold look.

That one look was like looking at a dead man; Su Changde trembled with fear at that gaze.

He subconsciously handed over what he was holding.

"Your Majesty...Your Majesty, this is something sent by Consort Jing. Would you like to take a look?"

Mo Yuhan, who was originally full of anger, instantly calmed down upon hearing Su Changde's words.

"Yueyue brought it, but where is she? Why won't you let her in?"

Mo Yuhan was practically a master of changing expressions; the moment he heard Jiang Jingyue's name, his face softened instantly.

If Su Changde hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed it.

"Consort Jing should still be outside! This servant will go and invite her in now."

After Su Changde finished speaking, he hurriedly ran outside, afraid that if he was a step too slow, Consort Jing would be gone.

Jiang Jingyue was still waiting outside. She believed that if the Emperor knew she had arrived, he would definitely not prevent her from entering.

Upon seeing the young servant, Su Changde immediately asked him a question.

"Where is Consort Jing? Is she still outside?"

The young servant was taken aback for a moment, but still nodded. When he came in, he saw Consort Jing still waiting there, and she should still be outside now.

Hearing that Consort Jing was still outside, Su Changde breathed a sigh of relief.

He immediately pushed open the door and ran outside.

"Consort Jing, Consort Jing, please wait a moment, His Majesty requests your presence."

Jiang Jingyue burst into laughter, lifted her skirt, and walked step by step into the Imperial Study.

Su Changde saw Qiu Hua preparing to follow him in and immediately grabbed her.

What the Emperor desires most right now is to be alone with Consort Jing. If she goes in, wouldn't that be getting in the Emperor's way?

Qiu Hua, who had been pulled back, looked at Su Changde with a strange expression, her eyes practically spitting fire.

Her master went inside, and she was going to go in to protect her master from being bullied.

"Eunuch Su, please release me. I need to go in and serve my master."

Qiu Hua struggled fiercely, looking like she was determined to go in even if it meant death. Su Changde had no other choice but to pull her in even harder; he knew he couldn't let her in.

Fortunately, Jiang Jingyue, who was walking ahead, heard the commotion. She looked at Qiu Hua, who was being pulled back, and couldn't help but speak up.

"Qiuhua, wait for me outside for a moment! I'm just going in to have a word with the Emperor, I'll be right back."

Qiu Hua immediately stood up straight and nodded. Su Changde was stunned by her quick reaction.

Jiang Jingyue walked inside and saw Mo Yuhan looking at the things on the table with a furrowed brow, seemingly lost in thought.

Jiang Jingyue tiptoed to Mo Yuhan's side and suddenly hugged him from behind.

She even rubbed her little head against Mo Yuhan's back. Mo Yuhan, who was fine at first, stiffened up when she rubbed against him like that.

"Your Majesty, I pay my respects."

This unconventional way of greeting was something Mo Yuhan had never seen before.

He turned around immediately, put his arm around Jiang Jingyue's waist, and pulled her into his arms.

Mo Yuhan's sudden action startled Jiang Jingyue, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Your Majesty, what are you doing!"

The woman's voice was soft and pleasant, and Mo Yuhan's heart melted at the sound, his hand unconsciously tightening.

"Yueyue, I'm having a bit of a headache. These ministers are really too much of a worry. Look at the nonsense they spout every day."

Jiang Jingyue looked at the scattered memorials on the ground with some doubt, picked one up and took a look.

When Jiang Jingyue saw the contents clearly, her expression immediately turned serious.

"Your Majesty, why do the ministers want you to make Prince Cheng the Crown Prince? Aren't Your Majesty's own sons ineligible to be the Crown Prince? Have I made a mistake?"

Although Jiang Jingyue knew what was going on, she had to pretend she didn't know at this point.

Mo Yuhan frowned, unsure whether he should tell her about it. But he also felt that it was unfair to her not to tell her something so important.

Mo Yuhan hesitated for a long time before looking at Jiang Jingyue and slowly speaking.

"Yueyue, I will never have a prince of my own in this lifetime. This was told to me by the head of the Imperial Hospital. I have always been very resistant to women. No matter which woman, I cannot touch her, until I met you."

"Yueyue, you are the first woman I could touch. I'm sorry I can't let you have a prince of our own. But don't worry, I will treat you well."

When Mo Yuhan said this, his expression was heavy with worry.

After saying this, Mo Yuhan kept his eyes fixed on Jiang Jingyue, wondering if she would care about this matter.

After all, not having children is a very serious matter for a woman. Although he caused this, there will still be gossip, and Mo Yuhan is worried that Jiang Jingyue will not be able to bear it.

Seeing that Jiang Jingyue was standing there in a daze without saying a word, he thought that Jiang Jingyue couldn't accept it, so he couldn't help but look at her and speak again.

"Yueyue, you don't need to worry about the prince. I will make sure you have a child. I will carefully examine those royal princes and see which one has the most talent. Then I will bring him into the palace, adopt him into your family, and make him the crown prince. That way, you will have a child, and no one will gossip about you anymore."
