Chapter 30 The Childless Middle-Aged Man (Part 29)

Princess Changning's tone was full of disdain for Jiang Jingyue, and even the Empress Dowager next to her couldn't stand it anymore and couldn't help but growl at her in a low voice.

"Changning, what are you doing? If you continue like this, you can go back to your princess residence. Don't cause trouble here."

The Empress Dowager's shout made her long face look even uglier, but she suddenly laughed, touched her belly, and gave Jiang Jingyue a somewhat provocative look.

Then he watched as the Empress Dowager slowly began to speak.

"Mother, Consort Jing has been in the palace for some time now, so it should be time for us to hear from her! But there's still nothing. It seems I was right after all; it's my brother's problem."

What the Empress Dowager disliked most was anyone saying in front of her that the Emperor's lack of offspring was Mo Yuhan's fault.

Although what they said was true, the Empress Dowager just didn't like to listen.

When the Empress Dowager heard Princess Changning say that, her expression immediately turned ugly.

However, the person in front of her was, after all, her daughter whom she had pampered since childhood, so she still couldn't bear to do anything to her.

All I could do was yell at her.

"Changning, you can't talk about these things carelessly. If you keep talking nonsense, go back to the palace and never come here again."

As soon as the Empress Dowager finished speaking, Princess Changning burst into laughter.

"Mother, I don't think you'll agree to let me go back to the Princess's residence. I'm pregnant. I've already discussed it with the Prince Consort. If the child is a boy, he'll stay and be raised by you as my younger brother's child."

As soon as Princess Changning finished speaking, the Empress Dowager stood up abruptly, her eyes filled with disbelief.

She slowly walked up to Changning and reached out to touch Changning's stomach, her hand trembling slightly with nervousness.

"Changning, are you telling the truth? You're not lying to your mother, are you? Your mother can't be deceived now."

Changning touched her belly and shook her head shyly.

"No, how could Changning deceive Mother? This matter is true, and the Prince Consort has also agreed. It just depends on whether Mother agrees or not."

The Empress Dowager nodded. How could she possibly disagree with such an important matter? The princess's child was also a royal child.

Perhaps because the princess had never had children before, the Empress Dowager hadn't thought of this issue. Now that the princess had brought it up, the Empress Dowager was pleasantly surprised.

"Of course I agree. I will have someone summon the Emperor right now to discuss this matter. If the baby is a boy, I will have the Emperor name him Crown Prince."

The Empress Dowager's words immediately brightened Changning's expression; this was exactly the result she had always wanted.

It seems that once she gets back, she'll have to find a child, someone around this age.

The Empress Dowager no longer cared about Jiang Jingyue; she supported Changning and kept staring longingly at her belly.

It seems that if we look at it this way, the child in the princess's belly will come out.

"Changning, should we call the imperial physician to come and take a look at the baby in your belly and see how it is and when you can give birth?"

Upon hearing that the imperial physician should be summoned, Princess Changning's expression changed instantly, and fear flashed in her eyes, though it was so quickly that almost no one noticed.

Jiang Jingyue, who had been watching her closely, immediately realized that there was definitely something fishy about Princess Changning's pregnancy.

"Mother, there's no need to call the imperial physician. I already had him examine me at the princess's residence, and there's nothing wrong. The baby in my belly is only two months old, so it's too early to tell anything."

Since Princess Changning had already said that, the Empress Dowager did not mention sending the imperial physician to take a look again.

"Come here and help me peel some melon seeds. My baby wants some."

When Jiang Jingyue saw that the person she was pointing to was her, she couldn't help but point to herself, her eyes full of confusion.

"Is the person the Princess is referring to me?"

Princess Changning nodded. This was the first time she had ever seen someone so tactless. Shouldn't she be trying to curry favor with her at a time like this?

After all, the child she's carrying is the future crown prince. If she doesn't curry favor with him, when will she ever get another chance?

"Hurry up and come here. Do you expect me to peel it myself?"

How could Jiang Jingyue do such a thing? No matter what she said, Jiang Jingyue just wouldn't budge.

This infuriated Princess Changning, who felt that in her current state, she should be served by others.

"Changning, just let that maid help you peel it. Why make things difficult for Consort Jing? Be careful when your imperial brother comes over and holds you accountable."

Princess Changning is not afraid at all now. She feels that she has nothing to fear now that she is pregnant.

The emperor certainly wouldn't do anything to her; otherwise, she wouldn't dare to order the emperor's concubines around like that.

"No, Mother, I want her to peel it for me. If she doesn't peel it, I will feel uncomfortable, and if I feel uncomfortable, the baby in my belly will feel uncomfortable."

The child in Changning's belly is the lifeblood of the Empress Dowager. When she saw Jiang Jingyue, she hesitated.

After hesitating for a moment, he suddenly spoke.

"Consort Jing, I hereby order you to help the Princess peel melon seeds."

After saying this, the Empress Dowager suddenly softened her tone and looked at Jiang Jingyue.

“Consort Jing, you should think about this. Given how much the Emperor dotes on you now, Princess Changning’s unborn child might have to call you Mother Consort. If it’s your child, you can consider it as getting to know the child in advance.”

The Empress Dowager's words almost disgusted Jiang Jingyue; she had never imagined such a thing could happen.

Jiang Jingyue took a deep breath, then looked at the Empress Dowager above and slowly began to speak.

"Your Majesty, I am still young and I am sure I can give birth to a prince for the Emperor. I don't need someone else's child."

As soon as Jiang Jingyue finished speaking, Princess Changning above burst into laughter.

"Don't you know that the Emperor could never have his own children? What you're thinking is utterly delusional."

As soon as Princess Changning finished speaking, she glared angrily at the Empress Dowager.

"Mother, judging from Consort Jing's words, she doesn't like the child in my belly at all. If that's the case, then what I just said doesn't count. I was reluctant to part with my first child anyway, and I can raise it myself."

Upon hearing the Princess's words, the Empress Dowager immediately became anxious and yelled at Jiang Jingyue.

"Consort Jing, how dare you! Quickly apologize to the Princess!"
