Chapter 18: The abandoned woman of the 1980s remarries

Chapter 18: The abandoned woman of the 1980s remarries

It's finally here.

When Qin Fengnian and Rong Zhen heard the news, this thought flashed through their minds at the same time.

Nearly half a month had passed from before to after their wedding, and the people from the northwest finally arrived.

Rongzhen had informed Wang Fengxian about this matter in advance, and the whole family knew about it, so naturally they didn't mind selling it in a good way now.

Before Qin Fengnian could speak, Wang Fengxian said enthusiastically, "Have Chanchan and Juanjuan's brothers arrived? Xiao Qin, go and bring them over for us to meet. The elders can also prepare a couple of dishes. Today is a perfect time for us to have a reunion dinner and get to know each other."

When Chanchan and Juanjuan heard this, they jumped up and down happily and said they wanted to meet their new brother. Maomao also joined in the fun, dancing for joy because they were about to have two more little friends.

Rongzhen had no choice but to remind them: "Mom, they just arrived and must be tired. Why don't we forget about it today? Let's take them here in a couple of days after they've rested up and introduce them to the locals."

She hadn't seen the person yet and didn't know what it looked like. She didn't dare bring it to her parents casually. She had to examine it first.

Zhang's father also had the same idea and persuaded Wang Fengxian to give up the idea.

Qin Fengnian understood Wang Fengxian's good intentions and kindness.

He appreciated it and said, "Don't worry, mother-in-law. Once we've settled them down, Zhenzhen and I will bring the children over. Just don't mind them being too noisy when the time comes."

Of course Wang Fengxian didn't mind. It was more lively when there were more people, and having more children made the house look prosperous and popular. She wished they could come more often.

Qin Fengnian quickly followed the factory director's secretary away, and Rong Zhen called the two sisters to go back to the courtyard and wait.

Zhang's father asked Zhang's eldest brother and his wife to pack a bag of food and drinks for them, and gave it to Rongzhen, instructing her: "Xiao Qin is a good person. We have all seen how he treats Chanchan and Juanjuan. So you must remember to return the favor and be nice to his two nephews. Only in this way can you live a long life."

Wang Fengxian agreed: "Yes, even if you can't treat them as your own children, you should always treat them equally and not hurt Xiao Qin's feelings."

Rongzhen assured them that she knew what to do.

That is the key to her second mission. It is unlikely that she will be kind to others wholeheartedly, but it is not easy to raise several children fairly and impartially.

Wang Fengxian and Zhang's father saw that she had made up her mind, so they stopped talking and turned around to hug Chanchan and Juanjuan and told them to get along well with their new brother, not to bully others, and not to let others bully them.

Chanchan and Juanjuan should agree obediently.

By the time Rongzhen was finally able to leave with her bags, it had been a while since Qin Fengnian left.

Chanchan was full of curiosity about her new brother. As soon as she left the family compound, she couldn't wait to act coquettishly with him: "Mom, can we go find Dad?"

Qin Fengnian is probably in the office of the machinery factory now, not far from here. If they want to meet him in advance, they can actually go there directly to find him.

However, Rongzhen disagreed and explained to the two little ones, "Your father has just reunited with his family. We need to give them enough space to meet. Once he brings them home, you'll be able to see them. Now why don't we go back and prepare a welcome gift?"

When they heard that they were going to give gifts, the two sisters became excited. Chanchan was ready to contribute the snacks she had hidden, and Juanjuan planned to give away the pair of toys she liked very much.

The two little ones chattered all the way until the bus arrived at the stop, then they stopped with a sense of satisfaction.

When Rongzhen got home, she first ventilated the west wing, then started the stove again. While boiling water, she also made a pot of easily digestible noodle soup.

When Chanchan and Juanjuan learned that it was made for their two new brothers, they diligently helped her pick onions and chop garlic, and were very busy.

The noodle soup was ready and Qin Fengnian came back.

When the two sisters heard the door open, they ran out to greet them with joy.

Rongzhen wiped her hands, walked out of the kitchen door and saw Qin Fengnian leading two dark-skinned and reserved-looking half-grown children in.

They were wearing new clothes, which must have been bought before coming. They were a little ill-fitting and made them look thinner, but they looked in good spirits.

Because of his tanned skin, not much can be seen in his appearance, except that his eyes are the same typical phoenix eyes as Qin Fengnian, and his facial features are somewhat similar, which makes people know at a glance that they may be related.

While Rongzhen was looking at them, two little boys in their teens were also secretly looking at her.

The woman in a cotton floral shirt and wide-leg Dacron pants was fair and beautiful, with a gentle and amiable smile, and her temperament was very similar to the mother in their memories.

The two brothers subconsciously wanted to get close to each other. The one who was one year younger even blurted out "Mom" and instinctively wanted to rush into Rongzhen's arms.

The older one quickly pulled him back and scolded him softly, "Have you forgotten what Aunt Jiaojiao told you before you came?"

He thought his voice was very soft, but Rong Zhen and Qin Fengnian could hear it.

Aunt Jiaojiao?

Hearing this unfamiliar name, the two looked at each other calmly, guessing that it might be the person who took care of them in the northwest.

This is not important. Rong Zhen spoke at the right time: "You are here, welcome, welcome. What are their names?"

Qin Fengnian pretended not to hear his eldest nephew's muttering and introduced them one by one: "The one who is one year older is Qin Huaijin, and the one year younger is Qin Huaiyu."

With their talents in mind, it seems their parents have high expectations for them.

"Mom, are they my brothers?" Seeing that the two ignored them, Chanchan and Juanjuan ran back to Rongzhen to ask.

Rong Zhen nodded and introduced them to the brothers, "Huai Jin, Huai Yu, these are your sisters Chan Chan and Juan Juan. From now on, we will be a family of six. You four siblings should get to know each other first."

Chanchan and Juanjuan immediately called him brother and presented him with the gifts they had prepared.

The two brothers came empty-handed, and were a little at a loss when they saw this. They stood there motionless for a while.

Qin Fengnian patted their tender shoulders, pushed them towards the two little guys, and encouraged them: "Go, don't be afraid."

Rongzhen also pushed Chanchan and Juanjuan, and the two sisters immediately understood and ran forward to hold the hand of each brother and go play.

Under their lively and enthusiastic invitation, and with the buffer of snacks and toys, Qin Huaiyu was the first to be unable to resist. She ignored her brother's little movements and pulled, and ran after her sisters, leaving Qin Huaijin standing there awkwardly and stiff.

Qin Fengnian explained to Rong Zhen with a helpless look on his face, "This kid isn't having a good time over there. He has to constantly protect his younger brother, so he's a bit stressed out in this unfamiliar environment. I hope Zhenzhen will bear with me for a few more days. I'll help them adjust as quickly as possible."

Rong Zhen understood, walked up and touched the little guy's head, and received a wary look from Qin Huaijin like a wolf cub.

Rong Zhen felt amused and softened her voice, saying, "Your name is Qin Huaijin, right? My name is Zhang Yuzhen, nice to meet you."

Qin Fengnian reminded him, "I've told you two brothers before that she is my wife. From now on, you can call her mother or aunt."

"Just call her mom. Chanchan and Juanjuan both call her mom." Rongzhen suggested.

Otherwise, if I call her aunt, how can I fulfill my task as a stepmother?

This is good for the two brothers as it will help them integrate into the family as quickly as possible and avoid being looked at strangely by others outside.

Qin Fengnian thought about it and realized that it was true. He urged his nephew not to stand there stupidly but to call for help.

Qin Huaijin moved his mouth but couldn't open it.

Rong Zhen didn't make things difficult for him and changed the subject, saying, "Let's eat first. I just made a pot of noodle soup. After we finish eating, I'll give them both a bath and a good sleep. We can take our time with the rest. We'll have plenty of time later, so there's no need to rush."

Qin Fengnian sighed and said that this was the only way for now.

The hot soup noodles were served, not only sprinkled with chopped green onions and sesame oil, but also with poached eggs and lard underneath, which smelled very fragrant.

Chanchan and Juanjuan were like greedy little cats. They ran over as soon as they smelled the food and wanted to eat it too.

Since there was more food in the pot, Rongzhen poured a small bowl for each of them, tapped their noses and asked, "Who said you were full just now and you're hungry again so soon?"

Chanchan patted her belly and said, "It's growing, so it needs to digest quickly."

Juanjuan was still holding Qin Huaiyu's hand, and said with a legitimate reason: "Mom, I want to eat with my brother."

Qin Fengnian laughed when he heard this, and brought out a square dining table and benches, ready to set them up for them.

Qin Huaijin helped silently, with a lively look in his eyes, but he was unwilling to say much.

Qin Fengnian saw it all but did not force it. He first let Chanchan and Juanjuan accompany the two brothers to eat their fill. After that, he personally rubbed them all over in the big bathtub. The strangeness and alienation between the uncle and nephew immediately disappeared.

During this time, Chanchan and Juanjuan wanted to run out to watch, but Rongzhen grabbed one of them and locked them in the room, taking the opportunity to spread gender knowledge.

Chanchan took note of everything she heard, but Juanjuan was still confused. She was busy asking why the brothers were so dark, why the eldest brother didn't like to talk, why the youngest brother swallowed his food without chewing, and so on and so forth. There were a hundred thousand questions.

Rongzhen was so overwhelmed by her questions that she patiently explained for a long time. When she finally finished washing them and coaxing them to sleep, she felt drained all over.

Fortunately, Qin Fengnian took good care of the two brothers, so she didn't have to worry about them anymore, otherwise she would really be grateful.

When children are cute, they are really cute; when they are naughty and annoying, they are real little devils.

Rong Zhen closed the door for them with a mixture of love and hate. Seeing the lights in the west wing go out, she tiptoed over and met Qin Fengnian at the door.

Rongzhen: "How is it? Are you all asleep?"

Qin Fengnian nodded and exhaled, "Let's sleep. Neither of them recognizes the bed. Don't worry."

Rongzhen also relaxed after hearing this. The couple went back to their room and massaged each other's shoulders. After talking for a while, they fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, Qin Fengnian was still sleeping. Rongzhen woke up and quietly got up and put on her clothes.

As usual, she went to the east wing to check on the two sisters who were sleeping like pigs, tucked in the corners of their quilts, and then came out and pushed the door open and walked into the west wing.

The layout and arrangement of the west wing were similar to those of the east wing. Without turning on the lights, Rong Zhen could reach the bed unhindered. With the moonlight coming through the window, she covered the two brothers with quilts and touched their foreheads.

Fortunately, I didn’t have a fever and slept well.

After doing all this, Rongzhen went to check whether the window was closed tightly, and then closed the door and left. The whole process was quiet and did not disturb the two people who were sleeping soundly on the bed.

But she didn't know that after she disappeared for a moment, the two pairs of eyes on the bed opened and looked towards the door for a long time.

"Brother, she really looks like mom." Qin Huaiyu suddenly spoke.

Qin Huaijin, who was lying next to him, hummed and corrected him: "They only smell and have similar temperaments, but they don't look alike at all."

Qin Huaiyu muttered something softly, and the room became quiet again.

When they really fell asleep, Qin Fengnian's tall figure flashed past the window.
