Chapter 6

Su Maner curled her lips. Does Chi Yunchen actually love Hu Yujiao so much?

She didn't know why, but she felt uneasy when she heard this.

She wanted to listen to what was happening outside, but she felt dizzy again. Her vision went dark and she passed out immediately.

It was almost five o'clock in the afternoon when Su Maner woke up.

She woke up and looked at the two guys standing in front of the bed, her expression slightly stunned.

In front of the bed stood a young man of about thirteen or fourteen, and a little boy of only five or six years old.

The little boy was malnourished and skinny, and his clothes were patched, which made the clothes look very strange.

The young man had a delicate face, like a handsome boy who had walked out of a painting. However, his face was pale, revealing a sense of weakness and sickness.

Su Maner knew that the boy was Chi Yunchen's younger brother, Chi Yunbo. Chi Yunbo was in poor health and had been a sickly child since he was young.

But he has good academic performance and always ranks first in his grade in every exam.

People in his family have high hopes for him, hoping that he can study hard and get into a good university in the future.

However, she recalled that Chi Yunbo died very early. It seemed that he...did not live past the age of sixteen.

The little boy was the son of Chi Yunchen's elder brother. Chi Yunchen's elder brother was a soldier in the army. But two years ago, there was a sudden bad news that his elder brother had died on a mission.

This was undoubtedly bad news for the Chi family. But Su Maner knew that the eldest brother was not dead at all. He was just carrying out a secret mission. He would come back after completing the mission.

"Third Auntie, are you awake? Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?" The little boy looked at Su Maner timidly with his big round eyes.

Su Maner recalled that she had bullied the kid yesterday, saying that he was a fatherless child, snatched his sweet potatoes, and pushed him to the ground.

Thinking of the original owner's behavior, Su Maner held her forehead.

I have to say that the original owner was very childish. How could she argue with a child? Especially such a cute and pitiful child.

Su Maner smiled at the young man and said gently, "I'm not hungry. Jiayue, do you know where your uncle went? Why isn't he in the room?"

Su Maner's smile scared both Chi Jiayue and Chi Yunbo.

These past two days, "Su Maner" has always had a sullen face at home and has been weird to everyone.

It's really weird to suddenly see her smiling now.

Chi Yunbo looked at Su Maner with a wary look on his face. He pulled Chi Jiayue back two steps, frowned and said, "My third brother went to the mountains. He wanted to cut some peach wood and make a new walking stick for grandma."

"Oh, so you went to the mountains." Su Maner smiled again and turned over and sat up from the bed.

After sleeping for a whole afternoon, she felt much better and the pain in the back of her head was gone.

Chi Jiayue watched her stand up and stepped forward to help her: "Aunt, does your head still hurt? Uncle San said you had a brain injury."

Su Maner looked at this little guy who was a little afraid of her but also wanted to help her.

She touched the boy's head and said, "It doesn't hurt anymore. It doesn't hurt at all after a good sleep."

Chi Jiayue was stunned by Su Maner's action.

The third aunt touched his head. The third aunt actually touched his head like his mother did.

Chi Yunbo looked at Su Maner with even more caution. He didn't know what Su Maner was up to. Su Maner suddenly became so kind, was she trying to play some tricks?

Su Maner did not ignore the wariness in Chi Yunbo's expression.

She remembered that yesterday, the original owner had also bullied Chi Yunbo, saying that Chi Yunbo was a sickly person and that Chi Yunbo would definitely die early.

Su Maner raised her hand and supported her forehead again, remaining speechless.

The original owner was such a troublemaker.

She moved to get off the bed, and Chi Jiayue stretched out her little arms and hands and hurried to help her: "Third Auntie, let me help you."

Su Maner smiled and said, "Thank you, Jiayue. Jiayue is so good."

Chi Jiayue was praised and smiled until her eyes narrowed into slits: "Third uncle told me and my younger uncle to take good care of Third aunt."

Su Maner raised her eyebrows. The male protagonist Chi Yunchen was quite considerate.

Thinking of what she heard before she fainted, she frowned and quickly asked Chi Jiayue and Chi Yunbo, "Where is Hu Yujiao? Where is Hu Yujiao?"

Chi Jiayue quickly looked up at Su Maner: "Aunt Yujiao was driven out by Third Uncle. Now Aunt Yujiao lives at Great Grandma's house."

Su Maner: “…”

Hu Yujiao went to Li Cuihua's house? That's good. Li Cuihua is not a good person, and Hu Yujiao will have a hard time in the future.

Su Maner put on her shoes and coat and walked out.

Chi Yunbo looked at the wound on the back of Hu Yujiao's head, frowned, and wanted to say something. But when the words came to his lips, nothing came out.

The three of them left the house and went out into the yard.

In the yard, Chi Yunchen's mother, Xiao Wanxiu, was peeling radishes.

Xiao Wanxiu became blind three years ago. As a blind person, she cannot work in the fields and can only do the simplest housework at home.

At this moment, the knife was in her hand, and Su Maner was always afraid that she would cut herself.

On the other side, a lame old lady was hanging clothes. The old lady's hair was all gray and she looked to be over seventy years old.

The clothes that the old lady was hanging on the wall were Su Maner's pants.

And this is Chi Yunchen’s grandmother - Hong Qingzhen.

Su Maner couldn't help but breathe harder when she thought of the situation at home.

In this family, Chi's mother is blind and Chi's grandmother is lame. Chi Yunchen's eldest brother "died" two years ago. Chi Yunchen's second brother went north to Kyoto to do business more than a year ago. But on the way, he was robbed and killed.

Now in this family, there are only two strong laborers: Chi Yunchen and Chi Yunchen's sister-in-law Hong Yashan.

In order to reduce the burden on her family and to earn money for her children's primary school tuition, Hong Yashan went to work in a brick factory in the neighboring village.

A woman went to work in a brick factory, a job that many men cannot do. If life didn't force her, who would want to do this?

Chi Yunchen, in order to make life better for his family, worked several jobs by himself.

He was obviously a gifted child and should have studied at university, but for the sake of his family, he had to give up his studies and juggle between several jobs.

Speaking of the heroine who originally lived in this house, Su Maner wanted to sneer again.

Hu Yujiao pretended to be gentle and kind all day long, and pretended to be wise and capable all day long.

But she didn't know how to do any hard work at home. She could only do light work like sweeping the floor and washing vegetables. Even washing clothes was done by her grandmother.

Because the heroine thinks she is an intellectual and that she will go to college in the future, she thinks she shouldn't do these things.

So she would not work at home if she could avoid it. She would only sweep the floor and wash the vegetables when she couldn't stand it anymore.

Su Maner sneered secretly and glanced at the neighbor next to her.

Li Cuihua's family lives next door. Now that Hu Yujiao is in Li Cuihua's house, she can go and cause trouble for Li Cuihua's family!

"Man'er, why did you get up? Doesn't your head hurt anymore?" Grandma Chi turned around and saw Su Man'er. She quickly put down the clothes in her hands and walked towards Su Man'er with her crutches.

When Xiao Wanxiu heard that Su Maner had gotten up, she showed a trace of worry on her face and asked hurriedly, "Maner, how did you get up? You hurt your head, you should rest more."

Su Maner looked at the concern on the faces of her mother-in-law and grandmother, she smiled slightly, and was quite moved in her heart.

The original owner had behaved like that at home before, but she didn't expect her grandmother and mother-in-law to still care about her so much. These two old people are very kind.

However, if it weren't for his kindness, he would not have welcomed Hu Yujiao into his home.

She walked towards Grandma Chi and said with a smile, "I'm not in pain anymore. Grandma, let me hang the remaining clothes."

Grandma Chi was a little surprised.

Why is Man'er laughing? And she even asked me to help her hang out the clothes?

And at this moment, inside the mountain.

Chi Yunchen held a machete in one hand and dragged a peach wood branch in the other, and walked quickly down the mountain.

But suddenly, a figure walked towards him.

Seeing this figure, his face darkened slightly, and a hint of displeasure quickly appeared on his face.

"Third brother." Hu Yujiao looked at Chi Yunchen. She took a breath and quickly smiled ingratiatingly at him and said, "Are you here to cut peach wood? Do you want to make a walking stick for grandma? I'll help you."
