Misunderstand
When he returned to his residence, all of Alred's things disappeared. Mu Xiao finally realized that he had made up his mind. He went to the refrigerator to find two ice cubes and put them on his red and swollen eyelids. After the pain cooled down a little, he opened the terminal and requested a video call with the male insect.
The default system ringtone mechanically repeated the same audio. He thought the other party was waiting for it to automatically hang up, but then the light screen clearly reflected the image of the insect. The male insect seemed to be falling asleep, with its long hair that was usually tied up scattered casually, and its loose and soft pajamas revealing its snow-white and lean chest.
"Anything else?"
Mu Xiao: "We still have the mark, don't we need to take some time to remove it?"
"No need, I have a way to eliminate it alone. If there's nothing else, I'll take a rest." The male insect's tone was calm without any extra emotions. Even the dumbest insect would understand that he was unwilling to continue to pester.
Mu Xiao stared at Alred's expressionless face, wanting to say something but stopping himself. Finally, he said "hmm" woodenly, ending this unnecessary call.
He tossed the terminal aside and collapsed wearily onto the mattress. A few seconds later, the terminal flashed green. Thinking it was a message of regret from the male insect, he quickly picked it up. In reality, Morse's disgusting face appeared in his field of vision. "What's wrong?"
Morse didn't know how he had offended him, but it didn't matter. He tapped his neck and fixed his gaze on the punishment ring worn by the female insect on the screen: "I think I've found a way to break the punishment ring. Do you want to take it off?"
Mu Xiao rolled his eyes and ruthlessly exposed the male insect: "If you want to take a risk with me, just say so."
"Will you refuse?" Morse asked with a smile, curling his eyes.
Mu Xiao fell silent after hearing this. The punishment ring tightly around his neck was like a time bomb, threatening his life all the time. He would rather lose than compromise in this kind of controlled life.
"What do you think? When can it be removed?" He stuck his fingers into the gap between the punishment ring and the flesh, pulled it out disdainfully, and slowly released it at the last second before the warning sounded.
Morse knew that Mu Xiao was not afraid of death, but he still gasped at this action. If he had let go a second later, he would have seen a bloody fireworks display. "Tomorrow."
After Anthony's lesson, Mu Xiao quickly responded to the three words "tomorrow". He made an OK gesture and quickly cut off the communication. Thinking that there might not be another tomorrow after tomorrow, he opened the terminal again and ordered a lot of fresh food.
Alred, who was about to take a rest, changed into casual clothes and came to Mu Xiao's door. He remembered that he had deliberately left a piece of clothing behind, so he came to get it, and also gave the female insect another chance to organize her words.
His bony fingers bent, and just before he locked the wooden door, he pressed the doorbell button next to him. He glanced coldly at the strange female insect that appeared at some unknown time.
The female takeaway insect, carrying a thermal box, was in such a hurry that she didn't even notice the insect next to her. After seeing the food clearly, she was so scared that she dropped the food in her hands. Fearing that the goods would be lost, she hurriedly picked it up and stammered, "This...this insect...ordered...food. I'll deliver it."
He didn't want to offend the male insect, so the suddenly open door was like a savior. He stuffed all the things into the hands of the female insect that came out, and then ran away.
Mu Xiao was holding the food, completely bewildered. He looked at the male insect with a bad expression and stammered, "Is there... something wrong?"
Alred was so angry that he laughed. He casually picked up the lychee in the female insect's arms, peeled the shell methodically, and stuffed the snow-white, crystal-clear flesh into her mouth. His voice was so cold that ice chips could fall off: "Are you happy that I'm leaving you?"
The male insect asked a good question, which directly put Mu Xiao in a difficult position. He couldn't just say frankly that he was afraid that he didn't have much time left, so he just let himself go and took the blame. The consequence was that he had to stand at the empty doorway and get blown by the wind.
Mu Xiao threw the food into the refrigerator. His little appetite was gone. He sat on the bed for a long time, then sent the words he had organized to Alred. The response he received was neither angry nor sad, but a striking red exclamation mark.
He accepted his fate, covered his head with the quilt and went straight to sleep. In his dream, he saw the male insect he couldn't let go of. The other party's black hair when they first met made the insect dazed.
The next day, Mu Xiao woke up very early. He curled up on the sofa downstairs and waited quietly. After the punishment ring was removed, he would be free regardless of life or death.
"It seems you are looking forward to it." Morse walked in, turning the key, and lied to the depressed female insect with his eyes open.
Mu Xiao's eyes stayed on the toolbox in the male insect's hand, thinking that this crack was a physical crack, and the punishment ring would explode, so he must hold on to the other party's hand tightly.
He craned his neck like a dead pig, watching Morse pick out a tool from the clattering stream of tools. He gestured confidently in the air, "Don't worry, if it works, the success rate is 100%."
Mu Xiao didn't understand the meaning of this nonsense and urged: "Hurry up, can you please hurry up?"
The sharp and piercing sound of metal collisions echoed in the room. Morse wiped the sweat from his forehead with a serious expression, as if he was trying to overcome some world problem. Mu Xiao, who was not too nervous at first, became nervous.
"If... you only have a few seconds left to live, what will you do?" The male insect who was dismantling the punishment ring said something inexplicably earnest. Mu Xiao knew that he was doomed and his heart calmed down.
"I will..." I will return to his paternal home planet with Alred.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and calmly accepted his fate: "When will it explode?"
"What's exploding? I successfully dismantled it." Morse, who was deliberately doing mischief, held up the punishment ring that was broken into two pieces to show off his superb skills.
Mu Xiao was so angry that his fists crackled. This time, he punched the male insect on the nose without mercy and sneered, "I'll show you my skills too."
He touched the deep indentation on his neck from the long-term use of the punishment ring, and once again fell into confusion. Removing the punishment ring was a good thing, no longer under the control of the organization, but what should he do after that? Would he be able to adapt to a peaceful life? The more he thought about it, the more he felt like a worthless person.
Morse seemed to see what he was thinking, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "If you're worried about having nothing to do, I can help you find something interesting to do."
"What's the matter?" Mu Xiao didn't think that this bad guy had any good intentions.
The male insect weighed the metal tool in one hand and clenched the broken punishment ring with the other: "Don't you want to save the female insects who entered the base with you?"
"What happened again? You won't push me to do something that's not in your best interest."
Morse sneered at himself, the image of Ruowen curled up on the ground and trembling appeared in his mind: "I know it was me who alienated you and Ruowen, but Ruowen is in trouble."
Mu Xiao frowned, pulled the male insect by the collar, and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Ever since I took him home, he's had tingling pains all over his body every night. I've consulted many doctors and even went to the laboratory, but I can't find any results. It must be related to that organization."
