Reunion after a long separation

Reunion after a long separation

"The interstellar commander has been on sick leave for several months and has returned to duty today..."

A mechanical insect on a suspended light screen was broadcasting the latest current affairs. A brown-haired insect had its back to the screen, with scars like vines climbing up its spine, appearing even more prominent and hideous in the sunlight.

The brown-haired bug seemed to have heard a key word, and his back muscles suddenly tightened. He was about to continue listening but was interrupted by the doorbell. He turned off the screen, picked up the shirt on the sofa, and walked towards the door while buttoning it.

The smart door received the owner's brain wave command and opened automatically. The male insect standing outside the door saw the oncoming insect and smiled as warmly as spring. Coupled with his shining golden hair, it seemed to disturb the insect's mind in an instant.

“…Why did Morse suddenly come to me?” Bug was not bewitched by the smile. He looked into the emotionless blue eyes and asked.

"Of course the organization has a mission, Mu Xiao. Actually, as an undercover agent, you don't need to be so nervous." Morse deliberately lowered his voice for the second half of the sentence, pushed away the female insect blocking the door, and went in on his own.

Mu Xiao crossed his arms, stared at Morse who was pouring water, and sneered: "I don't have as good an acting skill as you."

The other party was clearly not displeased by his sarcastic tone. His fingertips leisurely tapped the glass wall as he slowly stated his purpose: "I've been helping you gain access to the Toad Organization for three months. Whether I can fully gain their trust and further penetrate the inner world depends on whether you can successfully complete this operation."

Mu Xiao suppressed his teasing expression and raised his eyebrows to signal him to continue.

"Tonight we will attend a dinner as a couple, and your mission is to capture a high-level male psychotic insect."

"You're worthy of your method of making me attack my compatriots." Mu Xiao snorted coldly.

Morse lowered his eyelashes, poured a glass of water, and handed it to the bug. He said, "I've already made the arrangements. As long as you follow my instructions and connect with the 'bug', I won't make it difficult for you. After all, I still rely on you to fulfill my wish in the future, right?"

Mu Xiao couldn't help but think of the brain waves that Morse suddenly transmitted to him in the gap in time and space, saying that he wanted to perform a big show with him. After the show, he would not only know the answer to the question he wanted to ask, but also restore Alred's mental strength and complete the task given by his superiors, but at the same time he had to fulfill the other party's wish.

Because of the danger, he had to fake his death to deceive the male insects who treated him sincerely.

He still remembered those misty, pigeon-blood pupils, filled with grief that no darker color could conceal. His thoughts grew increasingly confused. He took the cup of water, drank it in one gulp, to clear his mind, and asked, "Why am I the only one who can fulfill your wish?"

Morse did not answer the question, but changed the subject: "Then why are you willing to cooperate with me? Don't you hate me?"

"Hate, I will always remember how you pushed me into despair step by step in the jungle. After everything is over, we will slowly settle the score." Mu Xiao did not ask any further questions, but expressed his attitude towards the question raised by Morse.

After Morse gave him the task, he did not stay any longer. Before leaving, he asked him to pay attention to the terminal message and he would pick him up in the evening.

Mu Xiao looked at himself in the mirror and saw that his outfit was too simple. It would be too embarrassing to wear such an outfit to a dinner party, so he sent a message to Morse, asking him to bring a formal suit when he came.

The contact avatar at the top of the address book was gray. It seemed that Alred had never opened the fake terminal since leaving the desolate planet. He pressed his stuffy chest, and the unspeakable emotions in it continued to dissipate.

Just as the terminal was closed, the gray avatar suddenly became bright, but Mu Xiao didn't notice it and missed it dramatically.

In the evening, just as Mu Xiao finished drinking the nutrient solution, Morse arrived. He held his chin and looked at the nutrient solution bag. After thinking for a while, he said, "Why don't you go to the banquet and eat something delicious?"

Mu Xiao waved his index finger and said disdainfully, "You're embarrassing me. Don't lower my standards."

"..." The corners of Morse's mouth twitched, and he was too lazy to even maintain a fake smile.

Mu Xiao changed into the clothes brought by the male insect, and then took the spaceship to the banquet with Morse. He sat by the window, looking at the tall buildings receding, feeling inexplicably filled with emotion, but the sound of a certain insect repeating the characteristics of the docking insect in his ear ruined the mood.

"Are you listening to me carefully?" Morse was a little unhappy with the female insect's absent-minded attitude.

"Red-haired, there's a heart-shaped birthmark on the back of your neck. I've remembered it for a long time. By the way, isn't it too rude to stare at the back of other insects' necks?" If Mu Xiao wasn't highly educated, the male insects on the main star would be too sensitive and fussy. He would probably be beaten for this behavior, causing unnecessary trouble.

"Then you watch secretly." Morse squinted his eyes and chuckled, making a meaningless suggestion.

The spaceship finally landed in front of a European-style villa. Mu Xiao jumped out of the door cabin and happened to step on the red carpet. There were bionic insects standing on both sides of the red carpet. After sensing their arrival, the bionic insects all bent down and bowed, and even smiled with the same arc at the corners of their mouths.

It's not that impressive, but it's really creepy. Mu Xiao is most afraid of these bionic insects. They seem to have data confusion at any time, have independent consciousness, and can take action and wipe out their owners when you are not paying attention.

"Stop being in a daze and go in." Morse held his wrist and walked into the villa.

Just from the outside of the villa, one could guess how grand it was inside, but he hadn't expected so many insects to gather there. In just a few minutes, Mu Xiao saw several red-haired male insects. Could there be a hair color card game?

He was dazzled by what he saw, so he had to eat a few pieces of cake to relax.

"You want noodles and a good look, why don't you eat anymore... I was just kidding." Morse wanted to say something sarcastic, but he saw Mu Xiao stopped biting the cake and stared straight ahead.

Mu Xiao certainly wasn't stagnant because of Morse's words. He looked at the place a few meters away in disbelief, put the cake on the table, and pointed over there: "That's Alred, how come his eyes suddenly got better?"

"Really? He seems to have noticed this. Let's hide first, otherwise something bad will happen." Morse was also a little surprised, but he had a mission to accomplish and couldn't let them get in the way.

Of course, it wasn't just these two bugs that were shocked. Zeyu and Andre, who were protecting the commander, were also stunned. They all looked at Alred, whose temperament had changed drastically after Mu Xiao's 'death'. He was unexpectedly calm. The storm was about to come.

Mu Xiao and Morse ran in the opposite direction of them, but the other party did not give them a chance to breathe and followed them step by step. They had to pay for what they had done. There was only a toilet in front of them and no other way to go. The two insects looked at each other and decided to play dumb.

The two insects walked into the male insect restroom and randomly found a cubicle to get in. In order to pretend to be more serious, Mu Xiao knelt on one knee in front of Morse, took off his suit jacket, ruffled the shirt underneath, and put his hand on the male insect's waist.

The moment the cubicle door opened, he said in a hoarse voice: "Didn't you see I was doing something?"
