Chapter 60
After a very satisfying dinner, Roger lay on the sofa, rubbing his belly while searching for travel guides in Copenhagen.
He Songgao passed by and asked, "Have you decided where to go?"
Roger said, "I want to go to the Christmas market!"
He Songgao: "Let's go."
The New Port Canal is downstairs from the hotel, and there are many tourists. Roger originally wanted to use his mobile phone to navigate to the Christmas market he had just found, but he found that the tourists on the street were walking in a certain direction in an orderly manner, and he had some premonitions in his heart. So he put away his mobile phone and took He Songgao to a crowded place.
When they went in, they saw many people coming out, holding a cup of mulled wine in their hands, and children holding colorful Christmas candies in their hands, wearing Santa Claus hats and cute elk, snowflake, gingerbread man-shaped hairpins on their heads.
"So cute!" Roger was almost dizzy with cuteness. He didn't like children and sometimes felt disgusted when he saw naughty children, but maybe it was related to the fact that they were in the fairy tale kingdom, he strangely had some tolerance for children.
The Christmas market was not far away. There were a lot of people. Roger and He Songgao squeezed in for a long time. There was a booth at the entrance that gave out free mulled wine. They went over and got two cups. The red wine tasted very rich, with spices, crushed nuts and fruit slices. Roger took a sip and exclaimed, "So warm!" The sourness of the red wine was melted, and the entrance was sweet with fruit and fragrant spices. It warmed the heart.
There were so many people that Roger kept holding on to He Songgao's arm for fear of being swept away by the crowd. There was a small square in the center of the market where you could take pictures. There were glowing snowflakes and Christmas trees on the square, and a transparent glass house with Santa Claus and his elk sitting inside.
Luo Jie wanted to take a photo, but he didn't trust He Songgao's photography skills: "Please don't take a picture that looks bad on me. If you really can't, I'll cover my face with my hands."
He Songgao: "I'll try my best."
Luo Jie jumped and ran to the bottom of the snowflake wreath. Many people were queuing up to take pictures. Luo Jie waited for a long time, and finally it was his turn. He stood close to the base of the snowflake wreath. He Songgao waved at him and asked him to stand in front. Luo Jie did so. He gestured to He Songgao to take more pictures, and he also changed several poses.
"Are you done?" Luo Jie shouted to He Songgao.
From a distance, he saw He Songgao nodded.
He ran over and snatched the camera from He Songgao's hand. Well, the technique was good, but it was too far away and the faces were a little unclear.
"How was it?" He Songgao asked.
"Not bad, not bad." In order not to undermine the president's self-confidence, Roger said hypocritically. Looking at the tall and handsome president, an idea suddenly popped up in his mind, "Let's take a photo together!" He pointed to the glittering Christmas tree and said.
"Okay."
He still had to queue up. When it was their turn, Roger randomly grabbed a passerby, a very tall European lady, who was very enthusiastic. She asked Roger if he needed some decorations. Roger said, "What decorations?"
The lady called her companion, and the two took off their headbands and handed them to Roger, saying, "Wear this."
It was a deer antler headband and a Christmas tree headband. Roger wore the deer antler headband himself and gave the other to He Songgao: "You wear this."
He Songgao looked hesitant.
Roger put the headband on his head without saying anything, and pulled him to stand under the Christmas tree: "Christmas, just cooperate."
The lady instructed them to pose and kept asking them to get closer. Roger thought, why get so close, we are not a couple. But he still squeezed hard against He Songgao. Finally, He Songgao lost his patience and simply hugged his shoulders. Luo Jie froze and could not move at all.
The lady: "Smile!"
Luo Jie grinned subconsciously and made a silly "Yeah".
After taking the photo, Luo Jie quickly left He Songgao's arms. When he thanked the lady, his face was still red. The lady said generously: "Is he your boyfriend? You two
are a good match." Luo Jie's face turned even redder, and he waved his hands desperately to explain: "No, no, no, we are not lovers, just very good friends."
"Not yet?" The lady smiled.
"No!" Roger's expression became serious, "Not in the future. Just friends."
The lady showed a regretful expression: "Okay. I wish you guys have fun."
After saying goodbye, He Songgao came over: "What are you talking about?"
"Nothing." Roger covered the camera screen and pointed to a row of wooden houses with different decorations and said, "Let's go buy something."
The wooden houses are actually stalls selling souvenirs and snacks. Roger looked around and felt that the souvenirs inside were all imported from Yiwu, except for some European-style handicrafts. He bought two very beautiful hand-painted alien mugs, a little bear pendant and an ugly and cute Christmas elf.
He Songgao saw that he had no intention of stopping, so he asked, "Do you like these little things?"
"No," said Luo Jie, "I'll take them back and give them to my niece."
"Are you an uncle now?" He Songgao said, laughing as he spoke, as if he thought this was something very interesting.
"I've been an uncle for several years, and I have two nieces."
After buying souvenirs and eating some snacks, he was about to leave when the crowd in front suddenly burst into exclamations. Luo Jie looked over there and said excitedly, "What's going on? What's going on?"
It turned out that Santa Claus had come out. The crowd automatically parted to the sides, and a white-bearded Santa Claus carried a huge cloth bag and distributed gifts to the people at the market.
"Wow!" Luo Jie exclaimed, the people who received the gifts were so lucky. However, according to his observation, many of them were children, so he should not be included.
Christmas songs that fit the occasion rang out in the square. Behind Santa Claus followed a performance team, which included beautifully dressed Santa Claus babies and some actors in animal costumes.
Roger stretched his neck to look over there. It was too crowded. He could not move at all. He was even stepped on by an excited bearded man. He Songgao stood behind him and took his arm around his waist which was leaning back in pain. "Are you okay?"
"It's okay." Roger said with a frown.
He Songgao's voice rang in his ears. If he was not mistaken, his face was very close to his own... Thinking of the position they were in now, he could not help but blush. The crowd was making a noise, probably because they were afraid that he would fall. He Songgao never let go of his waist after holding it. Roger twisted his body, thinking that it was okay now and he could let go. But a wave hit him, and he lost his balance and fell into He Songgao's arms.
"..." So embarrassing, help me.
He Songgao supported his waist and back and whispered, "Can you stand up?"
"Yes." Roger was almost embarrassed to death, and stood up with the help of He Songgao.
At this moment, Santa Claus, who had been spinning in circles, suddenly came in front of him. Roger was frightened by the particularly realistic old man makeup. Then Santa Claus took out a gift in red socks from his pocket, handed it to him, and said in English with a heavy accent: "Merry Christmas, sweet baby from Asia!"
"..." Roger shuddered at the corny words, "Thank you, Mr. Santa Claus."
After the parade, the performance team danced in the square under the Christmas tree. After watching the performance, Roger took He Songgao away.
When leaving, he received another cup of hot red wine. Maybe because he was too happy, Roger forgot the severe cold of the Nordic winter. He stood on the platform beside the canal and opened Santa Claus's gifts, which were several cute Christmas badges, very delicate.
"Here's one for you." Roger gave He Songgao a gingerbread doll-shaped badge and grinned, "Merry Christmas to you."
"Thank you." He Songgao said.
Large flakes of snow floated in the sky. It was hot just now, but now it's cold. Roger's nostrils suddenly flowed with some clear snot. He sniffed and said, "Let's go back."
"Have you had enough fun?" He Songgao helped him hold the red wine glass and said.
"Enough fun."
It snowed all night, and when he woke up the next day, Copenhagen had become a real ice and snow kingdom.
Roger stood in front of the French window and looked at the city covered by ice and snow. Suddenly, he thought it would be nice to move to Northern Europe... Oh no, thinking of the long dark nights in winter, he backed off again. He decided not to go there. If he couldn't see the sun often in winter, he would get depressed.
"What are you thinking about?" He Songgao came over, stood side by side with him, and looked out the window.
"Nothing." Roger stretched his back and said, "Did you order breakfast? Let's go out after breakfast."
They wandered around the city. The attractions were concentrated and could be visited on foot. Roger took the map provided by the hotel and marked it on the map in advance, intending to check in like a special forces soldier. He Songgao said, "There are only so many places, you have visited them all in one day, what shall we do tomorrow? Let's go slow."
Roger thought, that's right, let's go slow, so he adjusted his plan and visited only two places in the morning and afternoon, the Central Railway Station and Christiansborg Palace in the morning, so he didn't have to rush, and it was indeed much more relaxing. When visiting Christiansborg Palace, he heard that you can climb to the top of the castle to overlook the panoramic view of Copenhagen, so he pulled He Songgao and lined up to climb the top with great interest. It was indeed spectacular. Copenhagen doesn't have many high-rise buildings, but low buildings, with some churches/castles with pointed or domed roofs interspersed from time to time in the middle. Now they are all covered with snow, and it looks like an exquisite snow scene sandbox.
After getting off the Christiansborg Palace, they went to have lunch at a random pizza shop on the street. The pizza tasted good and the crust was very soft. After lunch, they were going to Longeli Park to see the Little Beauty statue, but Roger saw a port where he could take a cruise, so he bought a ticket and went up. There was some sunshine at noon, but it was still very cold. The boat sailed from the narrow inner river to the outer river. You can enjoy many attractions along the way. The guide explained at the bow. When passing by the densely packed cafes on both sides, tourists on the street and on the boat waved to each other, and there were also some private boats passing by. In short, it was a very novel experience.
It was just a little cold. In order to keep the camera steady, Roger did not wear gloves, and his hands were frozen red, and he almost lost consciousness.
The wind was very strong at the beach. He put down the camera, shivered, put his hand to his mouth, and breathed warm air.
"Are you cold?" He Songgao said. The two sat together, very close to each other. He Songgao grabbed Luo Jie's hands, put his red hands in his palms, and rubbed them.
His palms were large and warm, rough to the touch, but very soft, tightly against the back of his hands. An indescribable feeling filled his heart. Luo Jie's ears were hot, and his heart was beating strangely at a very unfamiliar frequency.
"Thank you, thank you." He said, without pulling his hand away.
