Chapter 5 Secret Realm 1

Chapter 5 Secret Realm 1

This weekend, Su Yu lay squinting under a tree in the yard, hiding from the sun, watching Su Yao lead her younger siblings in circles in the yard, playing a game called Eagle Catches Chicks, with Su Yao playing the eagle that was deliberately trying to scare the children.

"Wow, the chick can't escape now!"

"Wow, the eagle is here!"

"Aaaaaaah!"

The children's high-pitched laughter and shouts echoed in the courtyard.

“The children are so lively, Mr. Cheng, let’s go to the meeting room to talk.”

The headmistress smiled gently at the children, then firmly blocked the man's view.

The refined-looking man nodded. "I apologize, no offense intended. I just have a particular fondness for children."

Cheng Yi withdrew the scrutiny in his eyes and obediently followed the woman in front of him to the simple meeting room.

After the two were seated in the meeting room and tea was served, the headmistress spoke first: "Mr. Cheng, do you mean that you have come to find the child of an old friend and want to adopt the child?"

Cheng Yi smiled faintly and shook his head, sighing as if to say something unintentionally: "Yes, but my old friend has more than one child, he has a brother and sister, and the older one should be seventeen or eighteen this year."

As he spoke, a look of regret and remorse appeared on the man's face: "It's just that the couple passed away too suddenly. They said they were on vacation as a family, and I was abroad, so I didn't get the news until much later."

The headmistress frowned slightly: "She's already seventeen or eighteen?"

Cheng Yi added with a wry smile, "I had to go to many places to confirm that the two children were here, after all, I'm all alone..."

He sighed, "But I really did come too late, I just wanted a chance to make amends."

The dean's mother didn't say anything; she still felt that this person was strange.

"Well, I don't necessarily want to adopt them, I just want to see how they're doing. The two children's surname is Su, and I'd like to meet with them and talk to them first. Is that alright?"

Cheng Yi had a sincere expression. Although there were some gray hairs in his hair, he still retained the handsome features of his youth. His polite demeanor easily won the favor of others.

The headmistress finally sighed and said, "I'll ask the children for their opinions."

She solemnly told Mr. Cheng, "If the children are unwilling, I hope Mr. Cheng can be mentally prepared."

Although she felt that this Mr. Cheng was a bit strange, he had all the necessary documents, and since things had gone this far, she couldn't just kick him out.

I'll remind Xiaoyu and Xiaoyao later.

After receiving Mr. Cheng's assurance, the headmistress got up and told Mr. Cheng to wait a moment while she went to find Su Yu and Su Yao, as they were the only two children who met the criteria.

She didn't see the increasingly gloomy look in Mr. Cheng's eyes behind her.

"Ding-dong—"

A text message popped up.

His hand gripping the phone tightened for a moment, veins bulging, then relaxed. Cheng Yi was about to type a reply when he watched helplessly as the message was erased after only a short time.

Those in power are losing patience.

He will be abandoned... No!

No no no no!!!

He would never be a piece of junk and dragged away to be used as a test subject!

There's still time. He's already found the two children from the Su family. There's definitely still time!

With his back to the monitor in the meeting room, Cheng Yi's face was terrified and distorted, as if he were facing a demon.

He took a deep breath, regained his composure, and looked towards the door, waiting for his target to arrive.

At this moment, Su Yu and Su Yao, having received instructions from the dean, were on their way to the meeting room.

"Xiao Yao, do our parents have any old friends with the surname Cheng?"

Su Yao's tone was also puzzled: "I don't know. You, as the older brother, should remember more about the past, right?"

"What was the reason your parents wanted to take us out for a trip to relax back then?"

"I just remember they seemed to be in a bad mood at the time..."

"Ah, we've arrived."

The two exchanged a glance, then Su Yu stepped forward, knocked on the door a few times, and then pushed it open, swaggering inside and arrogantly asking, "So you're that Cheng Yi? What do you want with us?"

Not only did Su Yu pull out a chair and sit down, but she also crossed her legs, practically putting them on the table.

Cheng Yi's gentle and friendly smile froze for a moment as he turned his gaze to the girl following behind him, who seemed quieter and easier to talk to.

Su Yao sat down without any hesitation, started playing with her fingers, and glanced at him with a puzzled look: "Why are you looking at me? Just tell my brother if you have something to say."

Hold on! You must hold on!

Cheng Yi took a deep breath and, with a loving face and a regretful voice, told the young man and woman in front of him about how he had become close friends with the Su couple.

Seemingly overcome with emotion, tears even glistened in Cheng Yi's eyes.

Unbeknownst to him, the two people he labeled as rebellious fools were already exchanging glances right under his nose.

The siblings' bickering only stopped abruptly after Mr. Cheng finished reminiscing about the past, at which point they reverted to their rebellious, troubled youth personas.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to find you, but I still hope you can give me a chance to take care of you." Mr. Cheng's eyes were full of sincerity.

"You can tell me any ideas you have, and I will try my best to accommodate them."

He looked at his older brother, who was in charge of making the decision, and asked, "Xiaoyu, would you like to move in and live with me?"
