Chapter 10 The Hua Family

Chapter 10 The Hua Family

Su Yu was startled by the voice and scratched her head, looking at Uncle Wu to the side.

"Uncle Wu, this shouldn't be Young Master Hua, right?"

Uncle Wu coughed awkwardly a few times and said, "The young master is inside. That was the head of the family."

Su Yu subtly turned his toes; he had no intention of getting involved in the Hua family's affairs.

"I see. Then I'll come back another time to catch up with Young Master Hua."

“Twelve is in there too,” Uncle Wu whispered, “and the head of the family should already know we’re here.”

Su Yu suddenly looked up at him, feeling as if she had been betrayed.

No, why are you so eager to drag him here if they have a conflict? And what does this have to do with his little twelfth son?

Uncle Wu glanced at the still-closed study door; the sounds inside had subsided and weren't as frightening as before. He understood the patriarch's tacit approval, so he pulled Su Yu aside to explain.

Originally, when Hua Xian brought Feng Twelve back to the Hua family, the head of the Hua family, Hua Meng, didn't care. It was just another mouth to feed; they could afford to support it.

But who knew that Hua Xian kept talking about when A Jiu would arrive, and from time to time she would pull that Twelve aside to subtly inquire about who A Jiu really was.

That's all. Hua Meng was just surprised that her youngest son had someone so interested in him.

However, the day before yesterday morning, when the head of the family came to check on the young master's studies, he heard Hua Xian muttering outside the window that he wanted to run away from home with that Ah Jiu and wander the world!

Good heavens, instead of studying when he should be studying, he's always thinking about running off with these shady friends of who-knows-where. Hua Meng was furious. She kicked the door open and grabbed Hua Xian, giving him a good scolding.

If Hua Xian had honestly admitted his mistake, even if it was just a superficial apology, the matter would have been over. But this young master, like his father, had a truly fiery temper.

And so the two stubborn individuals began to argue.

Hua Meng said that at this age, the little brat should be at home diligently cultivating and studying!

Hua Xian said that A Jiu was very capable and that together they would definitely make a name for themselves. This age is just right for them to go out and make their way in the world!

Uncle Wu coughed lightly and said, "They're still being stubborn."

"That kid, Twelve, was brought here by the father and son as evidence. He's fine; he's just sitting there drinking tea and eating snacks."

Su Yu nodded to show that she understood, and felt a little relieved.

Uncle Wu continued earnestly, "So, Ah Jiu, the key to resolving family conflicts lies with you!"

"Me?" Su Yu pointed to herself, looking troubled. "Uncle Wu, I'm afraid..."

A bag of magic stones was stuffed into Su Yu's hands.

“Our patriarch wouldn’t kill demons indiscriminately; he just wanted to make the young master give up.”

"Ah Jiu, you and the young master are still young, how can you go out and make your own way in the world?"

Su Yu's expression hardened: "Uncle Wu is right!"

Uncle Wu smiled kindly and then looked Su Yu up and down.

I hadn't noticed before, but this child was probably covered in dust and dirt from traveling all day in Shanghai; there was some dust and grass stuck to his trousers and shoes.

"Let me help you clean up first. It's not very polite to see the head of the family like this."

After skillfully performing the cleaning procedure on Su Yu, he led her forward to knock on the study door.

Su Yu looked down and his eyes lit up instantly. He liked this cleaning technique; he had never learned it before and wanted to learn it.

With a creak, the door opened by itself when no one was there.

A tall, robust, middle-aged red-haired demon stood by the desk, his face grim. Hua Xian sat cross-legged on the floor in front of his father, arms crossed, looking utterly displeased.

Feng Shier sat on a chair to the side, holding a cup of tea that was no longer hot, lost in thought as if nothing was happening to him.

Suddenly he heard a noise and realized the door was open. He turned around and saw two people outside the door, one of whom, Su Yu, was smiling at him in the light.

Feng Shier's eyes lit up immediately, and he jumped off the chair and ran towards Su Yu.

"Brother! You're back!"

Su Yu smiled gently and was about to open her arms to catch him when Feng Twelve stopped a few steps away from her.

Su Yu blinked, thinking he might be shy, so she took a step forward and hugged him.

He understood that the orphans adopted at the shelter were initially shy around the caregivers.

Feng Shier's ears turned a faint red without being noticed, and he tugged at Su Yu's clothes, pressing himself against him.

The familiar, light scent filled his nose, just like the day he was caught in her arms, quickly putting him at ease.

Su Yu had no intention of abandoning him.

Then... then he won't abandon Su Yu.

Even if he misjudged Su Yu before, and Su Yu didn't have any resources or status, he still wanted to follow him.

Following, brother.

Seeing that Feng Twelve was keeping his head down and staying close to him without saying a word, Su Yu assumed that the child was excited because he hadn't seen a familiar person in a long time. So she temporarily put aside her plan to have a heart-to-heart talk and looked up at the Hua family father and son who were already looking at them.

Hua Xian perked up when he saw that A Jiu was finally looking at him.

He stood up, hopped over to A-Jiu in a few steps, put his arm around his shoulder, and said to Hua's father, "Look, A-Jiu really came out of the Dark Rose Forest by himself!"

"So as long as the two of us are careful when we go out to make our way in the world, we're sure there won't be any major problems!"

When Hua's father first saw Su Yu, a complete stranger, and discovered that he had actually entered the Foundation Establishment stage and wasn't just some random, shady friend, his expression softened, and he wanted to maintain the Hua family's image.

But as soon as Hua Xian said this, the Hua family head's face darkened.

"Go on adventures my ass! Did you even ask them if they wanted to go on an adventure with you?!"

Hua Xian looked at Su Yu with anticipation.

However, Su Yu also received a suggestive look from the Hua family head. Oh well, after all, he had already accepted the money.

“Young Master Hua, you really didn’t tell me about this…” Su Yu said somewhat embarrassedly, “Besides, it was because Sinbei City was arresting people everywhere that Twelve and I managed to escape.”

"Liuhua City is relatively stable now, so we can find a place to settle down. Twelve-year-old and I are still young, so let's wait a few years before we go out to gain experience."

Hua Xian pouted. He knew that Uncle Wu must have reminded him beforehand by bringing Ajiu along, but he still spoke up reluctantly: "Then when you go out to train in the future, remember to tell me, and I'll go with you."

Su Yu smiled politely and nodded.

At this moment, Hua's father, who was watching from the sidelines, spoke up: "I have something else to say about this training."

"Young friend Ajiu, please come with Huaxian as well."

Mr. Hua sat down with a deep expression, and Uncle Wu tactfully withdrew, closing the door behind him.

Hua Xian originally wanted to just leave and anger his father to death, but when he looked around, A Jiu had already led Twelve to find chairs and sit down.

He snorted softly, found a chair, and sat down next to A-Jiu, ready to help his friend fend off his father's evil forces at any time.

But Hua Meng didn't look at his son. Instead, he asked Su Yu, "I wonder if you would be willing to accept the Hua family's sponsorship?"

Su Yu was somewhat surprised: "What does Patriarch Hua mean by this?"

Hua's father said, "Then I'll be frank."

He laughed heartily, stood up, patted Su Yu on the shoulder, and said, "You have quite the talent, kid. You're already at the early stage of Foundation Establishment, and you have a good relationship with this rebellious son. I hope that you can go to Yuanfu to cultivate with Hua Xian in the future."

“You’re not that far apart in age, so you can look out for each other if you go together.”
