Chapter 41 Undercurrent of Love
Nuhra heard Corris's request and kissed him on the cheek without hesitation. "I'd be happy to do that."
Chris smiled and pushed Nuhra, "Go quickly." and sent Nuhra back to his desk.
Perhaps out of concern for Chris's mood, Nuhra moved more quickly than usual, finishing all his to-do items in no time. He checked his terminal and saw it was time to leave, so he told Chris to leave.
"Do we need to take those documents back?" Chris was a little worried, afraid that someone would come and steal this important document containing so much information.
"It's relatively safe here, but I can't guarantee it will be safe if I take it back." Nuhra glanced at the direction of her desk and said meaningfully.
Chris's heart sank, and he just nodded without saying anything more.
"Let's go. Don't overthink things after get off work," Nuhra said, maintaining her usual relaxed demeanor. She took Chris's hand as if nothing had happened. "What do you want for dinner?"
"I want to go home." Kris stiffened for a moment, then relaxed as he remembered they were alone. He shook Nuhra's hand, gently shaking it.
Nuhra's mood visibly brightened because of Kris's response. "Okay, I'll have the smart butler prepare dinner in advance."
After hearing this, Chris began to think about what he wanted to eat, and let Nuhra lead him to the exclusive elevator.
"Buzz--" Two sounds came from Nuhra's terminal. When he heard the prompt tone, the corners of his mouth, which were originally slightly raised, slowly pursed into a straight line.
"What happened?" Chris was keenly aware of the change in Nuhra's expression, and his mood was also affected, and he frowned.
"It's an urgent meeting. I have to go now." Nuhra pressed the elevator button and said apologetically, "Sorry, Chris, can you go home first?"
Corris understood that something serious might have happened, and subconsciously reached out to touch Nuhra's arm: "It's okay, I'll go home and wait for you."
Nuhra was about to say something when the elevator stopped and slowly opened. Nuhra only had time to squeeze Chris's hand before quickly exiting the elevator. Chris watched him from the elevator until the doors slowly closed.
The elevator went straight to the garage. When Chris got off the elevator, he saw the hover car he had taken to work this morning and Louis standing next to the car.
"Mr. Corris," Louis said, his expressionless face still. "The admiral ordered me to send you home first."
Chris was confused at the moment and didn't know what to say, so he just smiled at Louis as a greeting.
The sensor door opened automatically, and Chris got into the car by himself and sat in the back seat, looking a little restrained.
The car started, and Chris turned his gaze to the scenery outside the window that was constantly receding. Louis, who was sitting in the front driver's seat, also looked at Chris calmly through the rearview mirror.
Many people in the military were not impressed by Nohra's adjutant Louis. They only knew that Louis had been with Nohra since he took up an official position in the Imperial Army, and could be said to be a veteran of the Seventh Army.
What is not well known is that Louis was a colleague of Nuhra during his time as a space pirate... It can be said that, both publicly and privately, Louis is the person who understands Nuhra's personality best.
Because of this, he felt more deeply than anyone else the difference of Corris here in Nuhra.
The young man in front of him had a handsome appearance and the youthful vigor that was typical of young people, but his pale skin and thin face added a touch of melancholy to his temperament - this was a good face in the objective sense.
But Nuhra had seen countless handsome men and beautiful women over the years, and Chris was not the best among them; Louis also didn't think his boss would actively recruit a stranger into his territory just because of his good looks...
Chris's gaze had shifted to the front at some point, and when Louis looked up at the rearview mirror again, he was caught off guard by Chris's blue eyes, as deep as the sea. He couldn't help but lean back slightly.
Corris looked very calm, and those who didn't know the situation would think nothing had happened. "Is there something wrong, Adjutant Louis?"
"Sorry." Louis knew that it was impolite for him to stare at the other person, so he apologized.
Chris gave a polite and gentle smile and waved his hand, indicating that it was okay. Louis secretly regretted that he had not reacted in time.
As the other party involved, Chris was not in a stable state of mind. If he couldn't even accept the scrutiny of others, he would have been driven crazy long ago... Besides, Chris could also feel that Louis didn't actually have any ill intentions.
"Colonel Louis, I'd like to ask, how long will this meeting in Nuhra last?" In order to ease the atmosphere, Chris took the initiative to find a topic.
"The length of the meeting depends on its content," Louis said, immediately regaining his professional demeanor. "Please rest assured, when the meeting is over, I will get the Admiral home safely as soon as possible."
"Okay, thank you for your help..." Chris vaguely felt that Louis's attitude when he said this seemed to mean that he was going to check Nuhra's position. He shook his head and threw away this weird idea.
Fortunately, the military building wasn't far from Nuhra's villa, so Chris didn't have to rack his brains to find something to talk about. Louis parked the car steadily in front of the villa gate. Chris thanked him, got out, and walked into the villa.
As soon as he entered the house, the intelligent system lit up all the lights and directed Chris to the dining room for dinner. He then remembered that he had forgotten to give the intelligent housekeeper cooking instructions in advance. This must have been handled by Nuhra...
Nuhra hadn't returned yet, and coupled with his anxiety about the urgent meeting, the delicious food on the table didn't pique Chris's interest. He ate until he was only about 70% full, so he asked the robotic arm to clear the table and put the remaining food in the fresh-keeping area.
Chris had nothing to do, so he walked around the villa. Finally, he returned to the bedroom, took a quick and simple sonic bath, and then lay down on the bed.
He was still thinking about browsing the terminal while waiting for Nuhra to come back, but he never expected that he would become more and more sleepy, and finally fell asleep holding the terminal...
It was not until late at night that Nuhra finished the meeting and was sent home by Louis. He tiptoed into the bedroom and saw Chris curled up in a ball on the bed with the quilt. A gentle smile suddenly appeared on his face.
Nuhra walked over to Kris's side of the bed and found him still clutching the terminal. He smiled silently. He carefully pried open Kris's fingers, took out the terminal, and placed it on the bedside table. Only then did he go to wash up contentedly.
In his sleep, Corris seemed to feel the movement of others. He groaned meaninglessly, turned over, and turned his body to the side where Nuhra was going to sleep.
Because it was too late, Nuhra also chose to take a sonic bath. After a while, she walked out of the bathroom feeling refreshed.
Nuhra slowly crawled into the quilt from the edge of the bed on his side. Just as he lay down on the bed, Coris beside him accurately sensed his presence, came over and hugged Nuhra's waist, rubbed his furry head around, and finally buried himself in Nuhra's shoulder with satisfaction.
Nuhra was already used to it. She turned over to face Kris, calmly pulled her hand out of the other's arms, and gently placed it on Kris' waist.
A few rays of pure moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, falling on Kris's relaxed brows, making him appear peaceful and calm. Nuhra felt pity for him, bent down and kissed Kris's smooth forehead, whispering, "Good night."
Nuhra closed her eyes and enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep.
The next morning, Chris, who had slept soundly, opened his eyes to the sound of birds singing outside the window. The first thing he saw was not the ceiling of Nuhra's bedroom, but Nuhra's chest.
Chris was shocked and puzzled. How could he and Nuhra sleep together and so close to each other?
If it were anyone else, Chris would have jumped three feet high and crawled out of bed... But the person in front of him was Nuhra, and he could only feel joy and happiness.
Corris couldn't help but reach out and touch Nuhra's distinct features. His fingertips brushed against Nuhra's thick, curled eyelashes, her high nose bridge, and her full lips...
Nuhra was very sensitive to the outside world. The moment Corris moved out of surprise, he had already woken up... but he chose to continue pretending to be asleep, waiting for Corris's next move.
Corris stroked his face lightly, and every pause was like a butterfly landing on his palm, bringing a slight itch.
After satisfying his curiosity, Chris felt ashamed belatedly and chose to snuggle into Nuhra's arms, burying his head in Nuhra's soft chest muscles and holding her tighter with his hands, as if he was holding his beloved doll.
Nuhra then opened his eyes and looked down at Nuhra's motionless head, savoring the rare moment of intimacy.
Nuhra had violated the prophecy he had made for himself, saying that he would never develop an intimate relationship with anyone in this life. Now it seems that he was too arbitrary.
From the moment he appeared, Kris had an undeniable attraction to him. Nuhra admired Kris's unique personality, worried about his situation, and couldn't help wanting to keep him by his side, no matter what means... because Kris brought unique changes to his life.
Perhaps he was staring at Kris too intently, and Kris noticed it and raised his head from in front of him, but the tip of his chin was still pressed against his chest muscle, and he said shyly: "Good morning."
"Good morning." Nuhra reached out to brush away the hair that was about to get into his eyes. He was calm and didn't seem to feel uncomfortable with Chris's actions.
"Are you going to work at the military headquarters today?" Chris asked with concern, remembering that Nuhra must have come back very late yesterday.
"Of course, but there is still an hour left, we can sleep a little longer together." Chris was actually woken up early by the birdsong, and it was not yet the time that Nuhra usually set to get up.
"Well, I'm here." Chris was not particularly awake, and after hearing what Nuhra said, he felt a little sleepy again... He patted Nuhra's back seriously, like coaxing a child to sleep, and closed his eyes again.
Nuhra felt the warmth of Corris in his arms, and realized for the first time that he could no longer live without Corris.
