Chapter 45 Surprise

Chapter 45 Surprise

Chris had no idea what Nuhra was thinking at the moment. After apologizing, he still felt uncomfortable. He was also worried that if he continued, he would wake Nuhra up, so he had to close his eyes anxiously. As a result, he did not sleep well the whole night.

Chris had originally planned to apologize once more in person, but because he didn't sleep well the night before, he didn't wake up until lunchtime the next day.

He was too lazy to do it himself, so he asked the smart butler to make him a lunch. He sat at the dining table and chewed absentmindedly, the terminal screen in his hand lighting up and going off.

Halfway through his meal, Chris finally finished his mental preparation and sent a video call invitation to Nuhra. Unexpectedly, Nuhra answered the call immediately.

"Good afternoon, Chris." Nuhra was sitting in his office on the other end of the terminal with several documents in front of him.

"Good afternoon," Chris swallowed nervously and asked with concern, "Didn't you have lunch?"

"I've already eaten and am now continuing to deal with some work." Nuhra responded gently, without a trace of impatience on her face.

"Oh, oh... OK." Chris responded woodenly, seeming to want to say something but stopping himself.

Nohra noticed his hesitation and sympathetically changed the subject. "What are your plans for today?"

At this moment, Chris also made up his mind and said what he wanted to say directly: "I'm sorry, brother, I shouldn't have been angry last night. I know that there are many things that I can't do just as I want..."

Both of them were stunned for a moment. They didn't expect that they could speak at the same time with such telepathic communication. The atmosphere suddenly became much more relaxed.

Nuhra moved the documents to the other side of the desk and looked intently at Chris on the video chat, deliberately teasing him: "Were you angry last night? Why don't I remember?"

Corris knew he was trying to brush this matter off, but he still had to explain it clearly to avoid any rifts. "Brother... maybe I relied on you too much, so I just wanted to stay by your side. I will be careful next time."

He spoke sincerely, and Nuhra merely raised an eyebrow, the upward curve of her lips becoming less pronounced. Kris, lost in self-reflection, didn't notice the change in expression.

"It's not wrong to rely on me, baby," Nuhra said earnestly, choosing his words carefully. "I was also wrong yesterday. I shouldn't have pushed you away."

"But what I worry about most is that your dependence on me will hurt you," Nuhra continued. "There will definitely be a time in the future when I'm no longer by your side and can't solve your problems, or even when I become your problem. What will you do?"

Just as Corris was about to say something to explain, Nuhra stopped him with a gesture. "I'm not saying this to deny your abilities. I know you can become a very good person even without me."

"That's why I'm worried that my appearance will disrupt your original growth trajectory, and that the relationship between us will affect your ability to make rational judgments." Nuhra said a lot, and her expression became serious at the end.

"I understand your concerns, brother." After what happened last night, Kris was now able to communicate with Nuhra calmly. "But you can't push me away because of this. Every decision and every thought I make has you in mind. I'm sure I'm very rational."

"Please trust me more, okay?" Corris's eyes were firm and bright as he looked directly at Nuhra who was generated by the holographic projection.

The young man's gaze was as hot as fire, which made Nuhra feel rare and afraid to look directly at him. He felt ashamed of his doubts, desire for control and other dark thoughts.

"Okay." Nuhra finally understood what Chris was thinking and stopped dwelling on it.

He made a decision almost immediately and asked Chris, "Are you free tonight?"

Chris didn't understand why, but he responded honestly: "Of course, it's better to say that I have a lot of free time every day."

Nuhra smiled and focused on another holographic screen. "I've set up a reminder for the smart system at home, and I've entered the address into the hovercar. Just sit back and relax when the time comes."

"Wait, what address?" Chris looked confused. Nuhra had arranged everything in a few words, and he didn't even have time to react.

Nuhra gave Corris a sly wink, not revealing the answer to his question: "A little surprise."

"Surprise?" Seeing Nuhra's expression, Corris's emotions gradually became aroused, and his expression was full of curiosity. "Didn't you say that you would tell me the surprise in a few days?"

"I regret it now," Nuhra said confidently, as if he was not the one who had been hiding the secret from Chris last night.

"Well, I'm really looking forward to it." Kris decided to let things take their own course and wait to find out what kind of surprise Nuhra had prepared.

Seeing Corris's face full of anticipation, Nuhra became a little unsure: "Maybe it's not something particularly good, but I really want to give it to you."

Chris was very open-minded about this. He never measured other people's intentions based on the value of gifts or so-called "surprises", especially when the person who gave the surprise was Nuhra.

"I like any surprise you give me, really." Chris made a solemn oath and assured Nuhra.

"Hmm..." Nuhra had wanted to chat with Chris some more, but he seemed to have a new job, so she had to end the call regretfully. "Sorry, I have some urgent work to deal with right now."

"Okay, I'll go pick up the surprise on time." Kris's lunch was almost over, and he said goodbye to Nuhra, "See you tonight, brother." Kris also blew Nuhra a kiss.

Nuhra chuckled, her face showing obvious fondness and sweetness. She gently reminded him to take care of his health during exercise and ended the call.

Chris thought about it and made a rough schedule in his mind. He planned to review the course notes that Lauren had just sent him, then do basic training, take a shower after the training, and then go to the place designated by Nuhra.

Chris's mood today is completely different from yesterday. Yesterday he was still struggling. After yesterday's communication and just now, Chris let go of a lot of burdens in getting along with Nuhra.

After all, they have always been equal in matters of the heart, and Nuhra is not completely without concerns and worries. It is not only Chris who is worried about gains and losses.

Chris was completely absorbed in his plan until the alarm clock rang, and then he came to his senses and prepared to take a shower.

Since Corris had no idea about the Empire's clothing style, he still asked the intelligent system to match him a suitable casual suit. He had originally planned to go out like this, but before leaving the cloakroom, he turned back to the mirror.

Chris looked in the mirror and fished out a necklace from his coat. The pendant was a glittering ring—his and Nuhra's wedding ring. Chris stared at the glittering brilliance of the wedding ring in the mirror, took it off the silver chain, and put it on his finger.

This was the first time he put on his wedding ring after choosing it with Nuhra. Chris stared at the hand wearing the ring in the mirror for a long time. At the reminder of the intelligent system, he left the cloakroom and hurried to the garage.

Chris got on the back seat of the hovercar, which had already set its destination in advance, and slowly drove towards Nuhra's villa, leaving the familiar street scene behind.

This trip lasted longer than Kris's recent trips, and based on Kris's memory of the route and surrounding environment, it seemed to have left the first and second blocks.

Chris looked out the window carefully for a while, but couldn't figure out what was going on, so he gave up and chose to lean back in his chair, close his eyes and take a nap.

The vehicle continued on the road and finally stopped in a residential area. Chris got out of the car, but saw a villa with a yard in front of him. A rough estimate showed that the total area was smaller than the villa they lived in now.

Chris even felt that Nuhra's villa could be called a manor, and the one in front of him was the villa in his understanding... Back to the point, the villa in front of him was pitch black, and Chris was inexplicably scared and wrapped his coat tightly.

He looked around carefully and approached the door cautiously. He wanted to ring the doorbell, but unexpectedly the door suddenly opened slowly, revealing the main entrance and garden of the villa.

The villa looked brand new, and the garden had been well-maintained. With a sense of relief, Kris walked towards the door. Just like before, the door opened from the inside before Kris even touched it.

Chris stood at the door for a long time before he mustered up the courage to walk into the house. Unexpectedly, a pair of hands suddenly reached out from the side and pulled him over.

This action triggered Corris's muscle memory, and he subconsciously fought back. The person who intended to attack him also reacted quickly, neutralizing his action with a few moves and even gaining the upper hand.

In his panic, Kris bumped into something and both he and the man fell. Kris closed his eyes and prepared to hit the ground directly...

At this moment, the lights in the room, which had never been turned on, suddenly became brightly lit. The pain that Chris expected did not come, but instead he heard a muffled groan and the touch of another person's body.

Kris opened his eyes in shock and shouted loudly, "Nuhra?" Because of panic and intense exercise, Kris was obviously panting when he shouted.

Nuhra, who was pinned down by Corris, looked calm and composed. She did not feel embarrassed at all after falling. She just looked at Corris's face intently.

"Oh my God! Nuhra, what are you doing?!" Chris was so frightened that he almost had a nervous breakdown. His whole face was distorted. He tried to help Nuhra stand up together. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Nuhra raised her hands, which were relaxed at her sides, and put them around Chris's neck, forcing him towards her. She first kissed the corner of Chris's mouth, then turned her head and kissed him directly on the lips.

Chris wanted to struggle, but the moment their lips touched, he gave up all movements and devoted himself to the kiss.

The atmosphere was heating up, and the two people's tightly pressed skin transmitted the unusual heat of each other's bodies. Finally, it was Coris who took the initiative to lean back and end the kiss.

Nuhra's eye-catching golden eyes were filled with intoxicating affection, and her fingers slid down along Chris's lips and across Chris's rolling Adam's apple.

Corris grabbed Nuhra's restless hand and stopped moving. He finally said the first words since entering the room. His voice was hoarse from the intimate contact, and his tone was lazy: "Your surprise, don't you want to check it out?"
