Chapter 62 Invitation
Because of the long delay in the hospital, Nuhra finally did not choose to take Chris home, but sent him directly back to the college.
"I'm going to talk to the higher-ups at the academy... send me a message after class." Nuhra drove to a place a little further away from the main gate and let Chris get off the car first. He would then enter the academy through the door on the other side.
Chris had no objection to this. He gave Nuhra a reluctant kiss on the cheek and quickly stepped off the hovercraft. Nuhra watched him disappear from her sight before the vehicle started up again.
Chris was lucky today. He saw the shuttle bus just after entering the door. He confirmed that he had plenty of time, so he planned to go back to the dormitory to rest and see how Lauren was doing.
Although he was determined to tell his friends about his relationship with Nuhra, Chris was still troubled by how to explain it. Should he say that he and Nuhra were truly in love? However, given their current teacher-student relationship, it was hard to believe.
After leaving the shuttle, Kris pulled out his phone and opened the team chat, which he hadn't paid much attention to in the past two days. Ever since Kris sent a message to let everyone know he was safe, everyone felt more at ease and stopped trying to call him.
Chris hesitated as he walked, but before entering the elevator, he made up his mind and directly extended the invitation:
[Chris: Good afternoon everyone. Is there time to get together at my house this Saturday? We might need to discuss our plans for the black market investigation and update everyone on Tim Jax's hospitalization.]
Ian: ?
Ian: Has our relationship reached the point where we can go home together?
Ian: Yes, I do.
Chris was helpless in the face of Ian's bizarre text messages... Fortunately, he agreed very readily and didn't need Chris to explain too much.
Lauren: Thank you for inviting me. Is there anything I should prepare? This is my first time being invited to someone's home...
Lauren followed Ian and agreed, but he seemed to be thinking about what gift to bring. Chris quickly thanked him and advised him not to bring any gifts.
[Chris: Lauren, no need to bring a gift, just come and have afternoon tea together, just a small meeting.]
Joan probably didn't care where the meeting was going. When she saw that they were going to discuss the black market plan, she directly asked Chris for his home address. Chris sent the location, and she lurked in the group without anyone noticing and stopped speaking.
Margaret: Wow, you live so close to the college. No wonder you can apply for on-campus housing...
【Margaret: Joan and I will arrive on time, don't worry! 】
Chris casually picked an emoji and replied. Seeing that everyone agreed, his pressure eased instead of increasing... How was he going to explain their identities then? He couldn't just make up a story that he and Nohra fell in love at first sight at a military banquet, could he?!
It was unclear whether Nuhra fell in love with him at first sight under the circumstances at that time. Chris was in a daze. When he woke up in the hospital, Nuhra came to visit him. It would be a lie to say that he was not scared... But it was also a coincidence that they were attracted to each other by nature and finally fell in love with each other.
Thinking of this, Chris couldn't help but smile sweetly on his face until the elevator reached the floor where his dormitory was.
Before exiting the elevator, Chris intentionally adjusted his expression to avoid being mistaken for a foolish grin. Returning to the dormitory, Lauren and Ian were not there; they must have gone somewhere else.
Chris glanced at the living room clock, confirming there was still time before class, then returned to his room and lay down on his bed, browsing his computer. He searched the college forum for two part-time positions he was considering, and from other students, he learned about the interview requirements and job descriptions, preparing for his online interviews this weekend.
He stared at the terminal intently for a long time, until his eyes felt a little tired. He then put down the terminal temporarily, closed his eyes on the bed, and waited for the reminder set on the terminal to sound before heading to the class.
This class is not an important one in essence, but since the college has very high requirements for attendance, students need to sign in through pupil recognition for each class. Chris gave up the idea of skipping class and decided to just sit there and stare blankly.
Mixed in with the students in groups of two or three, Chris entered the classroom, chose an inconspicuous seat in the huge classroom, sat down contentedly, and prepared to spend the entire class staring at the textbook. Taking advantage of the students in front of him to block his view, he browsed the Star Network aimlessly - this was the best experience Chris got from modern university life.
Except for Chris, most people were not listening to the class seriously. They were all quietly doing other things in their seats. The teacher on the stage was probably used to this situation. He just gave them a few verbal reminders and let them go.
After more than an hour of class, Kris stood up and stretched slightly, eager to contact Nuhra through the terminal. He wanted to communicate directly with Nuhra, but considering that she might be talking to someone else... Kris didn't want to disturb Nuhra's work, so he just sent a message:
【Chris: Brother, class is over. Where can I find you?】
To Chris's surprise, Nuhra replied almost immediately, but he didn't seem to be in a good mood. He rarely complained about his work to Chris:
[Nuhra: I'm starting to regret agreeing to Samantha's request... Talking to these old, pedantic guys, I just want to use a gun to force them to say something useful.]
Chris didn't expect that the college leaders couldn't even stand someone like Nuhra who had perfect social skills and patience... But think about it, if even a guy like Lorifeng who was servile and arrogant could become a professor, the college leadership was probably not much better.
Thinking of this, Corris felt very sympathetic towards Nuhra and responded:
[Chris: Brother, you’ve worked hard... I’ll be waiting for you at school.]
Nuhra told Chris an unfortunate situation:
[Nuhra: Don't wait for me, I can't leave for a while.]
[Nuhra: Baby, go home first. I want to have a good chat with these people.]
Chris was not disappointed when he heard this arrangement. He walked to the main gate of the college as before, called his car at the villa, and left first.
Chris originally thought that Nuhra would be able to get out of it in no time, but when he finished taking a shower and was sitting on the bed drowsy, he didn't hear Nuhra come home.
Moreover, when Chris was sitting in the bedroom, he suddenly realized that he had missed a very important thing: Nuhra did not seem to say whether she wanted to move back to the bedroom.
Thinking of this, Kris, who was almost asleep, suddenly woke up a lot. He was determined to wait until Nuhra came back to have a serious talk with him about this matter... As for why he didn't mention it on the terminal? What if Nuhra rejected him through the message? Kris wouldn't even have the chance to act coquettishly in person to save the relationship.
Ever since Nuhra left a message saying that he wanted to have a good talk with the college leaders, he hadn't sent anything via text message... Chris forced himself to wait for a while, but finally couldn't wait any longer and fell asleep leaning against the headboard.
The sky was already covered with dark night. The intelligent system sensed someone at the door and automatically and silently opened the bedroom door. Nuhra was standing at the door, looking into the dark room, and saw a young man sleeping in an uncomfortable position at the head of the bed.
He frowned, slowed down his pace and walked into the room, stood beside the bed, and tried to pick up Chris and put him steadily on the bed so that he could lie down and sleep well.
As soon as Nuhra's hand touched Chris, Chris woke up with a start. He saw someone in a daze and subconsciously reached out to turn on the bedside lamp.
Nuhra was worried that the light was too glaring, so he identified himself: "It's me, baby." He sat down on the edge of the bed, face to face with Chris.
Hearing Nuhra's voice, Corris relaxed, rubbed his eyes, and muttered, "Why did you come back so late..."
"In order to extract some information from those old foxes, I chatted with them for a whole night, and they finally gave me some scattered information... Haha, I don't know who they are sending away." Nuhra felt a headache when he mentioned what happened today. He stood up, took off his military jacket, and put it on the back of the chair next to him.
"No wonder Captain Samantha specially invited you. If she were here, she would have burst into tears." Think about Samantha's character, and then look at what even the usually emotionally stable Nuhra has been forced into...Cris teased.
Nuhra also laughed briefly. As a longtime colleague, he knew Samantha's character better than anyone else. After much reflection, he could only sigh, "This is why I don't want to teach at Vincent... Dealing with this group of people will shorten my life. If they hadn't begged me this year, I wouldn't have gone at all."
Chris didn't expect that there were so many twists and turns behind the scenes. He also learned for the first time why Nuhra had only come to teach twice in his more than ten years of military career in the empire, and this was only the third time.
"Brother, let's not talk about this anymore," Kris changed the subject without hesitation. "There are more important things right now..."
Nuhra had a vague guess, but he just wanted to hear it from Chris himself, so he pretended to be calm and prepared to leave, going to get his coat that was on the chair.
As expected, Kris immediately became anxious and quickly grabbed Nuhra's wrist. "Don't go! Move back... Didn't we agree on this?"
Nuhra turned around with interest and studied Corris's features in the darkness. "What did we agree on? How come I didn't know?"
Chris gritted his teeth, thinking it would be a shame to let Nuhra go like that! Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he offered something Nuhra couldn't refuse: "But you said you loved me today!"
Nuhra laughed heartily, showing no sign of actually leaving. He turned around and ruffled Corris's hair, looking quite amused. "You really know how to say things I like to hear... Well, since I do love you, I'm moving back in. Are you satisfied?"
With these words, Corris became more confident. He waved his hand and told Nuhra to go back quickly: "Go take a shower. I'll wait for you to come to bed with me."
