Chapter 75 The Ignorant

Chapter 75 The Ignorant

Taking advantage of his physical discomfort, Chris has been sticking to Nuhra for the past two days. They flirt with each other and their life is very colorful.

Although Nuhra indulged him in other areas, he always held Corris to high standards when it came to training. Ever since that day at the Seventh Army training base, Nuhra had taken time every day to personally supervise Corris's training... Even though he was constantly thrashed to pieces under Nuhra's guidance, Corris still felt that he had learned a lot and found it acceptable.

"Remember to keep practicing even when you return to school." The day off ended quickly. The night before returning to school, Chris had already taken a shower and was sitting on the bed waiting for Nuhra, who was giving him instructions, to go to bed.

"I know," Corris agreed obediently. He would have trained without Nuhra's reminder. He was actually more concerned about the progress of the black market investigation. He asked, "Brother, how far has the investigation progressed?"

Nuhra returned to bed and shook her head gently. "Once more forces get involved, the preparation time will be infinitely extended... But I guess it will be for a while."

Chris sighed and said worriedly, "I'm just afraid the night will be too long and I'll have too many dreams." He lay down on the bed and turned his head to look at Nuhra who was sitting next to him.

Nuhra turned off the lights, leaned down, kissed Chris on the cheek, and said goodnight gently, "You have to go back to the academy tomorrow, so go to sleep. Things will work out in due time... I'll also pay more attention to this aspect."

Chris closed his eyes, said "hmm", and stopped thinking about these messy things.

The next morning, Nuhra had a meeting at the military headquarters, so she didn't go directly to the academy with Chris. Before leaving, she said goodbye to Chris, "See you in class this afternoon."

Chris smiled, reached out and hugged Nuhra, and said jokingly: "See you in the afternoon. Will you call me to answer questions today?" Obviously, Chris had a great psychological trauma caused by Nuhra's random roll call in class... It's not that he has never been called before. The problem is that every time he was called, the fear of being called became more serious in his heart.

Nuhra narrowed his eyes, with a half-smile on his face: "You'll know in the afternoon." He rubbed the top of Chris's head, turned and walked out of the villa, got in his car and drove away in a cloud of dust.

Corris curled his lips and watched Nuhra leave helplessly. It was time for him to head to the academy. He walked to the hovercraft that had been prepared long ago, opened the door and climbed into the back seat.

The morning flight course was nothing to be afraid of for Chris. Whether it was the course itself or Lorifeng's intentional or unintentional targeting, Chris remained unmoved. The professor was so angry that he wanted to bite him but he could do nothing about it.

As soon as the get out of class was over, Chris walked out of the classroom from the back door without looking back, and followed the crowd to the shuttle bus. He planned to go back to the dormitory to have a quick lunch and have a good rest to prepare for Nuhra's class in the afternoon.

When Chris returned to the dormitory, Lauren, who was still in her room, heard a noise in the living room and came out to check what was going on. Seeing that it was Chris, she happily came out to greet him, "You're back!"

Lauren seems to be in good condition, slowly coming out of her previous sadness, and working harder in training and studying. Chris thinks this is a good thing, as Lauren can enrich her life by focusing on other things.

Chris naturally came to the bar, poured himself and Lauren a cup of tea at the right temperature, sat on the high stool in front of the bar, and chatted casually with Lauren.

"Chris, you know what?" Lauren seemed to hesitate for a moment, and finally said to him boldly, "It seems that Tim Jax is back..."

Hearing this, Chris's eyebrows slightly lowered, and the faint smile on his face disappeared. He asked Lauren seriously: "Is this true? Did you see him?"

Lauren said with embarrassment, "Actually, I haven't really met him myself. After all, Ian heard some time ago that someone moved all of Tim's things out of the dormitory... Everyone thought he would never come back. Unexpectedly, this morning Tim's classmate posted on the forum saying that he was back to class, and even attached a photo!" As he spoke, Lauren hurriedly took out the terminal and showed the photos he had saved from the forum to the skeptical Chris.

Tim Jax in the photo was visibly pale and thin, looking like a withered tree on the verge of collapse, devoid of life. Chris frowned. He'd assumed Tim would remain under the watchful eye of the Royal Guards, but he'd unexpectedly returned to school... Could his safety be guaranteed? Had this been agreed to by Samantha and Nohra?

Chris looked at the photos carefully several times and didn't see anything wrong, so he handed the terminal back to Lauren. He felt a sense of unease in his heart: "I have to find a chance to talk to him... Thank you for telling me this." Lauren waved her hands repeatedly in response to Chris's thanks, saying that this was what he had to do for the investigation.

Chris had a quick lunch, leaving the mess to the smart butler and robotic arm, then returned to his room. Chris was worried about Tim. He and Tim had only met face-to-face a few times, and they didn't have any contact information. Now, if he wanted to contact him, the quickest and most direct way would be to confront him at school. Otherwise, Chris would have to rely on his connections to get his phone number...

Considering that there was a "highlight" in the afternoon, Chris had to put the matter aside in advance, have a good rest, and recharge his energy for Nuhra's class in the afternoon - from his attempts in the morning, he knew that Nuhra would most likely call on him to answer questions in this class.

As expected, as soon as the afternoon class started, Chris was the first one to be called up by Nuhra to answer a question. Normally, Nuhra wouldn't repeatedly question the same student, but Chris's situation couldn't be considered "normal"...

"Mr. Corris, what are your thoughts on the Imperial Army's collective replacement of new firearms?" Nuhra's first question was about the Imperial Army's recent military operations outside the domain. After he continued to expand on the topic, he asked Corris a topic that was completely different from the original question.

The sympathetic gazes from others were almost tangible, focused on Chris. He gritted his teeth, brainstormed in his mind, and talked about everything from organizational structure to personnel training. Finally, he managed to get it over with, and Nuhra mercifully asked him to sit down.

"Huh..." He sat back down, still apprehensive, his legs numb and weak from standing. A message popped up on his terminal. It was from Joan, who was sitting two seats away from him:

【Qiong: Did you two have a fight?】

The corners of Chris's mouth twitched, and he thought to himself: I want to know too. However, he did not reply to Joan like this, but just said some polite words in a tactful and respectful manner:

[Chris: He probably wants to train my thinking ability...]

Joan was probably shocked by the complex emotions expressed in this message, and finally chose to respond dryly:

【Qiong: It’s good. Keep it up.】

Chris thought sadly that from today on, his image in Joan's mind might be shifting ever closer to that of a love-brained person, forever gone. After a few words, Chris, worried that Nuhra might notice their little antics and call him up to answer a question, quickly turned off his computer and listened to the lecture attentively.

Fortunately, Nuhra was not as unkind as Chris had imagined. Chris did not "win the prize" again and was able to be dismissed safely.

Before get out of class ended, Nuhra made a major announcement: "Students, remember the assessment I mentioned earlier? It's scheduled for next week. Please prepare in advance. My smart assistant has emailed you the specific requirements and precautions."

This was considered a bombshell piece of news. Nuhra knew that many people needed time to discuss it, so she announced the news right on time. As soon as she finished speaking, the bell for the end of get out of class rang... Nuhra walked out of the classroom without looking back, ignoring the noise that was boiling in the classroom.

Chris's team had already started preparing early, and the overall results were good so far, but they didn't know the situation of other groups. Based on the principle of anticipating the enemy, they trained with increasing intensity and organized several coordinated training sessions.

Joan packed up her things, stood up first, and said calmly to her companions in front of her: "In the sprint stage, we have to work harder than before." The atmosphere among everyone was a little solemn for a moment, and they all stood up and prepared to go to the No. 2 training hall.

They were silent all the way, and Chris's mind was full of recalling the shooting skills that Nuhra had taught him in the past few days, and he kept memorizing the details... His physical fitness and other aspects had been significantly improved, and in Joan's eyes, he was considered to have passed the test. However, he had not seen any good results in shooting. It was only under Nuhra's strict teaching that he finally got the hang of it.

When Chris and his friends arrived at their usual training room, they met an unexpected person: Tim Jax, who had disappeared from the eyes of outsiders for two weeks.

He stood at the door of the training room. Seeing Kris and the others coming, he slowly stood up straight and said to Kris, "I want to talk to you."

So, the others went into the training room first, and Chris took Tim to the rest area where they first met and found a secluded corner seat to sit down.

"Thank you for helping me." Tim forced a smile, obviously knowing that he was able to escape successfully last time thanks to Chris's help.

Corris was patient, waiting for him to get to the point. He didn't accept Tim's thanks. "Don't thank me. I'm not that capable yet... How are you?"

Tim answered honestly, also explaining his reason for returning to the academy: "I'm feeling much better now. We're just observing for any aftereffects or residual medication."

"I didn't want to stay in the ward, so Captain Samantha finally approved my discharge to go to school, but I had to wear a 24/7 monitor and be followed and protected by a dedicated person." Although Tim had a serious illness, his mental state seemed to be much better, perhaps because he knew he had successfully obtained asylum.

"Congratulations on getting what you wanted." Chris smiled politely, took the drink cup and took a sip of cold fruit tea. He knew that Tim wanted to say more than that.

Sure enough, after hearing what Corris said, the bitter smile on his face became even more difficult to conceal: "I just had no other choice, so I resorted to this desperate measure..."

"Actually, I came to you today to ask you to do me another favor... Please, please find my brother." Tim choked up halfway through his words, and the last few words almost came out of his throat.

"Your brother?" Chris knew that Tim's brother had joined the R&D organization behind Reliance, and his whereabouts were unknown. Chris sympathized with Tim's situation, but he couldn't make a promise lightly. "I can't promise you anything. Besides, Captain Samantha is more capable than me if we need to find someone."

As if seeing hope, Tim said something shocking, shouting in pain: "He's still alive, he's still alive! Duke and the others accidentally let it slip before, using my brother to threaten me to listen to them..." Realizing his own loss of composure, Tim's voice gradually lowered, "I know he might have committed a crime, but my family has been looking for him for a long time. I just hope to see him in person again, even just for a moment..."

Kris remained silent for a long time. On the one hand, he understood Tim and his family's long-held obsession. On the other, Kris felt pessimistic about the situation. Even if they found this person, who could guarantee that this sin-tainted person was still their former family? But Kris knew that all this was Jax's family's choice.

Tim observed Chris's expression, his heart sinking to the bottom. He knew that his request was too much, but this was also the only chance for him and his elderly parents to see his brother again. Tim had to try everything: "I know that you have close relations with some high-ranking military officials. If you ask for it, maybe it will work!" He blurted out, and Chris's expression in front of him changed immediately.

"You want to threaten me?" A surge of anger surged in Chris's heart. He looked at Tim coldly with a bad tone.

"How dare I? I just have no other choice..." Tim smiled sadly, and all the light in his eyes disappeared.

It was impossible for Chris to agree to Tim's request on his own initiative. In addition, he was shocked and angry when Tim tried to threaten him, so he didn't want to stay with Tim anymore. But when faced with this peer who was struggling to survive in misery, he couldn't turn a blind eye.

Corris stood up and said coldly, "Whether you and your family can meet again depends entirely on fate... Out of sympathy, I can help you inquire about whether it's possible. Beyond that, I'm sorry, I can't do anything else."

This answer was enough for Tim. With tears in his eyes, he kept muttering, "Thank you, thank you..." After Chris finished speaking, he left the rest area directly. I don't know if he heard his thanks.
