Chapter 30 Protection

Chapter 30 Protection

Nohra pulled herself out of her memories and stood up again to check on Chris's condition. Seeing that Chris was alright, she had the robotic arm push the sofa chair to the bedside, and she settled herself against the nightstand to sleep for the rest of the night.

When Chris woke up, he felt much better, but he had no specific memory of what happened last night. Only a few unclear images remained in his mind - such as him vomiting on the ground in front of others.

Chris closed his eyes in despair. Now that he was conscious, he naturally knew who the "figure" that had suddenly appeared and taken care of him all night was...

He slowly sat up and looked around. The sofa chair beside the bed was empty, and Nuhra herself had disappeared somewhere.

Chris felt a little disappointed, but after putting himself in his shoes, he realized that Nuhra was already so busy with work, and since he was fine, there was no need to force others to take care of him...

He definitely did not covet the momentary tenderness that Nuhra showed last night, absolutely not... But it felt so good to be cared for by someone, and Chris could not deceive himself on this point.

Just as Chris was still lying on the bed with his eyes wide open and thinking about something, the door opened and Nuhra, who was wearing casual home clothes, walked in. Her eyes met Chris's as he was looking towards the door following the sound.

"You're awake." Nuhra came over and, while checking the data on the monitor, spoke to him briskly, "You gave me a real scare last night."

"Thank you," Corris smiled upon hearing this, "I thought..."

"Why?" Nuhra gently steadied the instrument and sat in a chair beside the bed. He noticed that Chris was hesitant to speak and asked.

"I thought you were going to work and didn't care about me anymore..." Chris's voice gradually became quieter. Realizing that his words were ambiguous, he hurriedly added, "But I'm fine now. Sorry to bother you again..."

As Corris spoke, his eyes drifted away, refusing to meet Nuhra's gaze.

"Don't you consider this place your home? Then I'm also your family, right?" Nuhra stared at Corris without moving her eyes. "Isn't it normal to take care of your family? Don't feel any psychological burden."

When Corris heard him say this, he didn't know how to respond for a moment, so he had to change the subject abruptly, "Then, then you don't have to go to work at the military headquarters today?"

"I've asked for leave," Nuhra shrugged. "I haven't had a vacation in a while, so it's time to rest..."

"Oh, oh..." Nuhra blocked all of Chris's questions with just a few words. His eyes rolled around, and his brain couldn't think of any suitable topic. The room fell silent.

"I've finished explaining. Now isn't it your turn to explain it to me?" Nuhra asked, with a hint of inquiry in her expression.

"Ah, what do you want to explain?" Chris was surprised when he heard this. It seemed that he had not done anything bad, right?

"How did you get yourself into this state?" Nuhra restrained his smile, as if he was going to call someone to task, but his eyes were still gentle and calm... Chris knew that Nuhra was just teasing him.

"I don't know... maybe I'm too tired lately?" Chris was also distressed. Now that he talked about it, he remembered the strange feeling in his body when he was exercising with Joan and the others, and immediately told Nuhra.

"Why didn't you tell me about such a serious matter?" Even Nuhra was a little scared after hearing what Chris described.

"I thought I recovered after that, so it wasn't a big deal..." The more Chris spoke, the more he felt that he was indeed too careless at the time. He lowered his head and twisted his fingers, his eyes secretly glancing up to observe Nuhra's expression.

"No, you should rest well here recently and don't go back to the academy." Nuhra was even more scared. He directly gave orders to Corris to rest here.

"What about my family? Besides, I have an appointment with my classmates to train together..." Chris didn't think much about going back to school. He wanted to stay in Nuhra's house and lie down every day, but reality did not allow it.

"I will talk to your father in person. Didn't he want to get in touch with me before? Then give him some benefits..." Nuhra was very open-minded. These things were small problems in his eyes. "As for training, with an experienced, free and patient admiral like me here, do you still want to follow someone else?" Nuhra frowned, with some dissatisfaction in his expression.

"How could that be?! You must be the best, and of course I need you." Chris was very sensible. He started to speak well of Nuhra right away, and he was 100% sincere.

"...Okay, I'm done teasing you." Nuhra maintained that expression at first, which made Chris wonder if he was unhappy. Just as he was about to say something, Nuhra put on a friendly smile and said, "Don't think too much about things that haven't happened. The most important thing is to live in the present moment."

"Then... I'll go ask for leave first?" After Nuhra's tireless persuasion, Coris also learned to relax.

"If you can't handle it, let me do it." Nuhra didn't say anything else and let him go.

Taking advantage of the time he had, Chris grabbed the terminal and tried to request leave through the college's academic affairs system. As soon as he opened the terminal, countless missed communication requests from the Narr couple popped up.

Chris was speechless in front of these countless records, and finally decided to make a move and block all contact information of these two people.

"Huh..." The process of adding someone to the blacklist didn't take long and could be done immediately through the system on the terminal, but Chris felt as light as if he had thrown away a heavy burden.

"You look so happy. What good thing happened?" Nuhra had been watching Chris's every move and asked curiously when she saw that he suddenly relaxed a lot.

"The good thing is, I finally got rid of some annoying flies." Kris raised his head from the terminal and responded lightly, then lowered his head and began to fiddle with the system to apply for leave.

Nuhra did not intend to make any judgment on Chris's family relationship. When she heard him say this, she just smiled and said nothing.

"It seems that requesting leave requires specific proof." Before Chris could be happy for long, a new problem arose. The leave application process at Vincent Military Academy was cumbersome and strict. Proof that met the requirements was required before proceeding to the next step of the approval process. Even after approval, there was a high chance that it would be rejected...

Nuhra raised an eyebrow and decided to use some unconventional means: "It's okay, I'll let Louis contact the head of your department."

"Isn't this a bit bad..." Chris looked a little embarrassed. He thought that Nuhra would at most issue him a certificate of eligibility, but he didn't expect that she would directly find someone to solve the problem for him.

Nuhra leaned forward, reached out and squeezed Corris's shoulder, and said soothingly, "Since I chose this method, it means it won't have any impact. It's just a matter of saying something. If you're really worried, I'll also provide the corresponding materials..."

"What's more, if you want to catch a big fish, you have to put down good bait first." Nuhra's words were meaningful. Seeing this, Coris knew that he had his own plans and stopped struggling.

"Okay, then I'm too lazy to care." Chris adjusted his mentality quickly. After accepting the current situation, he turned off the terminal and put it aside.

"Your most important task right now is to take care of your health." Nuhra was very satisfied with Corris's actions. "But we have to go downstairs to eat first. Let's go."

Speaking of eating, Chris vomited last night and slept for a long time... He only now realized that he was hungry.

Nuhra went to the restaurant to wait for him first. Before leaving the room, she repeatedly confirmed whether Chris needed help, but Chris embarrassedly evaded her.

Chris brushed his teeth and washed his face in the separate bathroom in the room. He scooped up the cool water in his hands and splashed it on his face, feeling more awake.

He seemed to have sensed something, and looked up at himself in the mirror. Although his face in the mirror still looked a little pale with a few drops of water on it, overall, Corris was in much better shape than when he first crossed over...

There were a lot of things to worry about before, but fortunately now there is someone else to worry about it with him...Chris's eyes were a little more relaxed, and the corners of his naturally upturned mouth were filled with a smile from the heart.

He took the towel, wiped the water off his face casually, and walked downstairs casually to find Nuhra.

Nohra was still busy at the kitchen stove, wearing an apron. Kris watched from a distance for a moment, then walked over to Nohra, put on an apron as well, and wanted to help.

"You're here?" Nuhra had been staring at the cooking machine with her arms crossed. When she saw Chris approaching, she turned and spoke to him, "What do you want to eat?"

"Waffles, chocolate cake, petal jelly..." Chris had a funny idea and started to list the names of the dishes - but they were all desserts.

"You have indeed recovered, but it's better not to eat these things for now." Nuhra laughed and shook her head.

"Yes, sir." Although Chris was almost recovered, his throat still felt a burning pain from vomiting so hard last night. In fact, he didn't dare to eat too much.

"The department has approved your request for leave." Nuhra turned her attention back to the cooking machine in front of her and informed Chris.

"Have my parents come to see me?" Chris asked cautiously.

"I guess he's still thinking about countermeasures... At the latest, by the time I return to work at the military, your father will come to visit you." Nuhra said with a smile, her tone as casual as if she was talking about dinner.

"Then... when will you go back to work?" Chris stood there, hesitating for a moment, and took the opportunity to ask the question that really concerned him.

"Don't you want me to be at home?" Nuhra did not give an accurate answer immediately, but asked back.

Chris leaned closer and responded in a voice only the two of them could hear: "I'm asking because I hope you stay home..."

Nuhra was unusually silent, but she had already quietly added the extended vacation time to the most urgent column of pending matters.
