Chapter 40: Where the Heart Desires
Chris is not going to be fooled so easily this time. He must get a positive answer from Nuhra.
He tilted his head slightly to avoid Nuhra's movements, and used his hands to create some distance between the two of them.
"I won't kiss you," Kris said to Nuhra righteously, "and you can't play tricks on me."
Nuhra moved forward relentlessly, directly wrapping Chris between her arm and the table behind Chris.
They were of similar height, but Kris looked slimmer than Nuhra, and this movement made their bodies stick close to each other.
The touch of the other person's body and the questions came along with the contact, and Chris's face blushed belatedly, but this time he did not look away, and still stared at Nuhra stubbornly.
Nuhra's eyes were calm and gentle, as he focused intently on Kris before him. Then, repeating his old trick, he quickly kissed Kris on the cheek before saying leisurely, "I understand. Just do as you wish."
"However, I have one request," Nuhra added before Corris could respond. "Before you take any action, you must not hide anything and must discuss it with me."
Chris knew this was Nuhra's bottom line, and he was quite satisfied with the outcome. After all, if Chris were in Nuhra's shoes, he would have proposed the same conditions.
"Deal." Chris nodded in agreement. The debate over assisting in the investigation had come to an end. He was now more concerned with something else...
"Can I kiss you now?" Nuhra seemed to see through his thoughts, and a playful smile flashed in her bright golden eyes.
Chris's expression finally returned to normal. Nuhra's blunt question almost made him lose his composure.
"...Didn't you kiss her already?" Chris muttered. He lowered his eyes, and his trembling eyelashes showed that he was not calm at the moment.
"Okay." Nuhra's eyes inadvertently swept across Corris's pursed lips, and a hint of disappointment appeared in her words.
"What is the relationship between us now?" The successive emotional shocks made Chris confused for a short time, and he had to cautiously seek confirmation from Nuhra.
"A romantic partner with a legal status?" Nuhra pondered for a moment before offering a rather amusing definition. Kris was unable to refute and could only remain silent.
The relationship between him and Nuhra is so empty that the word "love" sounds too empty. The word "like" is more appropriate, but considering their married status, it seems a bit absurd.
"Okay, Mr. Ambiguous Object." The more Chris thought about it, the funnier it became. He forced himself to suppress his laughter and teased seriously.
"As your ambiguous object, can you kiss me?" Seeing that Corris accepted it well, Nuhra smiled and lowered her head, softly inviting the young man in front of her.
Kris couldn't hold it in any longer and laughed uncontrollably, his whole body visibly relaxed and happy. He closed his eyes and decided to follow his heart for once and kissed Nuhra on the lips.
Everything was so natural, as if this action had been performed between them countless times - at the moment their lips touched, the world fell silent, and the only sounds in their ears were the soft breathing and the pounding heartbeats of each other.
It was not known who reached out his hand first, but by the time Koris realized it, his hand had already touched Nuhra's handsome and deep face... Nuhra narrowed his eyes slightly, and the two hands that were originally on the table turned to press on Koris's back, pressing him tightly in front of him, wishing he could rub Koris into his body.
The kiss was a bit intense, and they finally broke apart to breathe. Nuhra pressed her forehead against Kris's, their hands still on each other, and they cuddled quietly in this position.
"I like you..." The atmosphere was so good that Chris was so excited that he confessed again in a low and hoarse voice.
Nuhra didn't say anything, but just kissed Corris lightly, expressing the same feeling with her actions.
After this intimate contact, both of them had some physical reactions. Nuhra and Kris tacitly gave themselves some space to calm down.
Nuhra reached out and wiped Corris's moist lips, his gestures revealing a rare warmth. "Once I finish my work, we'll go home."
Chris thought back to the kiss just now and felt shy belatedly. He nodded and simply replied, "Yeah."
They stayed in the rest room for a while longer, until the reaction wore off. Nuhra straightened his wrinkled jacket and trousers, and even smoothed the back of Chris's uniform, which had been rubbed by Nuhra.
Chris collected all the information and put it back into the confidential file bag, followed Nuhra out of the lounge, and took the direct elevator back to the office.
After giving a few instructions, Nuhra returned to his desk and quickly got into work mode, beginning to handle matters seriously.
Chris also wanted to shift his attention to the terminal content he had not finished reading, but every time he started thinking, his brain would uncontrollably recall the kiss just now.
Nuhra's lips, Nuhra's skin, Nuhra's hands caressing his body...Chris couldn't ignore these real sensory experiences. This was the first time in his life that he had such a level of close contact with other people, and he couldn't help himself.
So this is love, this is kissing... Chris's brain was a mess, and he could only remember that he and Nuhra kissed, he and Nuhra kissed!
Chris was still worried before, not knowing whether his feelings for Nuhra were just a dependence... But starting from today, he has figured out that his dependence on Nuhra does not conflict with the fact that Nuhra herself is attractive to him.
Nuhra is older than him, has experienced more, and their actual social status is also different...Chris's dependence on Nuhra is actually the result of many factors.
This dependence gives Chris more opportunities to understand Nuhra, and Chris is also attracted to Nuhra in the process of relying on her, both physically and psychologically.
After sorting out the key points, Chris suddenly became enlightened and decided not to dwell on it anymore... Maybe Chris still didn't understand what true love was, but at least they liked each other at the moment, and Chris felt unprecedented happiness, which was enough.
"What are you thinking about?" Nuhra tapped her slender fingers rhythmically on the desk, looking at Chris who was in a daze with interest.
"I was thinking about you." Chris came back to his senses and answered subconsciously.
This answer was beyond Nuhra's expectation. He showed a surprised expression at the right time and asked, "Can I know?"
"Why... do you like me?" Chris could understand why he liked Nuhra, but on the contrary, he didn't understand why Nuhra liked him?
After hearing Corris's question, Nuhra laughed dumbly: "You are very good, so good that I have an illusion."
"It's like, I will never be alone again." A complex emotion flashed across Nuhra's eyes. He sat in his seat, looking at Chris from across half the office.
"I've never had any desire for love, and no one has stayed with me for a long time..." Nuhra said, turning her gaze back to the document in front of her. "It's because of you that everything has changed."
"But we only agreed to get married in the beginning," Kris said, a little confused by Nuhra's explanation. "If you find someone else to marry, you'll still have someone by your side, right?"
Nuhra shook her head helplessly, stood up from her seat, and walked over to Coris. "Why would I marry someone else? I noticed you at the party, and ever since then, you've been special to me."
"I don't deny that I initially chose to get married due to investigation needs, but if it wasn't you I met at the banquet that day, I wouldn't have chosen this form of marriage by agreement." When it comes to feelings, Nuhra never deceives himself, let alone deceives others. What he said now is his true inner thoughts.
Chris didn't know how to respond. Compared to his love for her that was based on purely emotional needs, Nuhra was more realistic and calm about this relationship, which made Chris feel a little dislocated.
"I understand..." Finally, this was all Chris could say. He couldn't say he was sad, but he just suddenly woke up from his overheated state.
"I'm sorry, I think my words disappointed you." Nuhra squatted in front of Chris, put his hands on Chris's knees, "I... I really don't know how to do it..." A rare expression of regret appeared on his face, and he sincerely apologized to Chris.
Seeing Nuhra like this, Chris could understand. After all, everyone has a different attitude towards emotions, and he couldn't expect Nuhra to be the same as him... Originally, Nuhra was the one who took more risks and responsibilities between the two of them, so rationality and calmness were necessary.
That was the truth, but Chris's emotional loss was still difficult to control for a moment. He didn't want to put any emotional pressure on Nuhra, so he calmed down and smiled at Nuhra.
How could Nuhra not see the feelings that Kris was deliberately hiding? Seeing Kris like this, Nuhra couldn't help but frown - his mood had unconsciously fluctuated with Kris's emotions.
Nuhra was about to explain something, but Kris leaned in and silenced him with a kiss. After the kiss, Nuhra forgot much of what he had been about to say. Kris spoke first, "As long as...as long as you like me."
"I kind of want to go home." Chris changed the subject, his tone as gentle as usual, but Nuhra just couldn't let go.
"I only like you," Nuhra wanted to reassure Corris and express his feelings, but any method he could think of would be counterproductive if used here.
At this time, Nuhra would agree to whatever Chris said, "We will go home soon." Nuhra didn't have much work to finish, and he had just completed most of it. There were still some that were not urgent to complete. After estimating the situation, he didn't plan to finish them now.
Chris wanted to go back, but he didn't want to affect Nuhra's work. "It's okay, I can wait until you finish before going back. I'm not in a hurry."
Nuhra took a deep breath, frowned and said, "No, I'm anxious. I want to make you happy."
"Well, how about this...how about you give me a kiss too, maybe I'll be happy?" Seeing Nuhra worried about him, Chris's mood actually improved a lot, and he suggested with a smile.
