Chapter 153 The Immortal King's Daughter
Inside the palace, an illusory, enormous chessboard was laid out.
Exotic flowers bloomed all around the palace, filling the air with their fragrance.
A pretty young girl with her hair styled in two buns was playing chess with a red-haired boy. The girl held a delicate fan in her hand, fanning herself from time to time. The red-haired boy opposite her held a large gourd of wine, taking sips every now and then.
Beside them were a man in blue and a young man in black.
The girl with the double buns was Wei Ruo'er, the daughter of the Immortal King Wei Bai. Wei Ruo'er possessed the strength of a Golden Immortal, but this was not her true form; it was merely an avatar at the True Immortal level.
Wei Ruoer and Hongye were having a great time when they saw Han Wei leading a group of people into the palace. All eyes turned to Han Wei.
Wei Ruoer said with a smile:
"Is it ready to challenge me after a good rest?"
Han Wei didn't recognize Wei Ruoer, but hearing her words, she knew that this girl, who looked to be thirteen or fourteen years old, was the guardian of the seventy-four peaks. This girl must be an immortal!
"Seniors and Senior Hongye haven't finished yet. I'm not in a hurry. I can challenge them after they've finished," Han Wei said, cupping her hands in greeting.
"Alright then, you wait here for a bit. It won't take me long to deal with this guy," Wei Ruoer said with a smile.
Upon hearing her words, Hongye gritted her teeth in anger.
Han Wei and Xu Lingyue both walked to the side, and seeing Luo Xuan there, they walked towards him. Upon reaching Luo Xuan, Han Wei and Xu Lingyue both clasped their hands in a respectful greeting: "Senior Luo."
"You've arrived! We've been waiting for you for a long time," Luo Xuan said with a smile.
Han Wei and Xu Lingyue couldn't help but look at the unfamiliar young man next to Luo Xuan. The young man was dressed in a gorgeous robe, with long purple hair that reached his waist, extremely white skin, and a bewitching appearance that was both strange and alluring. He was a rare and handsome man.
Luo Xuan smiled slightly at Han Wei and Xu Lingyue, and when he saw their gazes fall on Xie Wei beside him, he introduced, "This is Mr. Xie!"
Han Wei and Xu Lingyue hurriedly said, "Greetings, Senior Xie."
Xie Wei looked at Han Wei, a slight smile playing on his lips. Such a woman of such elegance and beauty was rare even in the Upper Realm. He asked with a smile, "Are you confident you can win at which peak?"
Upon hearing this, Han Wei asked, "I heard that as long as you defeat the master of the Chess Saint Palace, you can obtain three wishes. Is that true?"
She seemed to be giving an irrelevant answer.
“That’s right. As long as you defeat the Palace Master, you can have three wishes. As long as the Palace Master can do it, he will definitely grant them to you. The Palace Master’s cultivation is unfathomable. Whatever you want, he will surely make your wish come true,” Xie Wei said.
Han Wei smiled and said, "Then I really need to think carefully about what I want to wish for."
Xie Wei: "..."
Luo Xuan: "..."
Even Xu Lingyue, who was standing to the side, looked at Han Wei in shock. How arrogant! She actually wanted to defeat the Palace Master of the Chess Saint Palace!
"Hahahahahaha..." Xie Wei was stunned for a moment before bursting into laughter. "You have ambition, you have ambition, you are truly fearless like a newborn calf! Do you know that in the past hundreds of thousands of years, no one has ever beaten the Palace Master? Even in the Upper Realm, no one can beat the Palace Master."
Han Wei smiled and said, "You have to have dreams."
Xie Wei burst into laughter again after hearing this. Those around them, seeing them chatting so happily, couldn't help but look at them.
Han Wei looked at Xie Wei and asked, "Senior, which peak are you the reigning champion of?"
“The eighty-first peak,” Xie Wei said with a smile.
Han Wei nodded and said, "Then we'll be able to match up soon."
Xie Wei: "..."
She's so arrogant!
Luo Xuan looked at Han Wei and felt that she was too arrogant. She had only reached the seventy-fourth peak and hadn't even gotten past Wei Ruoer yet.
On the other side, Hongye and Wei Ruoer were locked in a fierce battle on the chessboard when suddenly Wei Ruoer burst into laughter. A cloud of blood mist enveloped the chessboard, and Hongye looked annoyed. Then, one by one, his white pieces were captured by Wei Ruoer.
"Hahahaha, you lost, you lost!!" Wei Ruoer laughed loudly.
After yet another crushing defeat, Hongye stood up, dejectedly walked over to Hanwei, and said, "Alright, it's your turn. Go!"
Han Wei glanced at Xu Lingyue, who gave her an encouraging look. Han Wei then walked towards Wei Ruoer.
A faint fragrance wafted through the main hall, and on the enormous, illusory chessboard, all the white and black pieces had vanished.
Two jade thrones were set up on either side of the chessboard. A pretty young girl dressed in a light blue gauze dress, with her hair in two buns and wearing a gold lock and pearl earrings, sat on one of the thrones, holding an exquisite folding fan.
Han Wei walked to another throne carved from white jade and bowed to Wei Ruoer, saying, "Han Wei greets Senior!"
Wei Ruoer looked at Han Wei, her almond-shaped eyes gleaming with blue light. She unfolded her folding fan, revealing an arrogant, young lady-like expression on her pretty face: "Little one, you have such delicate skin. But I'm very fierce, you know, I won't hold back, hehe~"
The other person had the face of a thirteen or fourteen-year-old and called her "little one." Han Wei really wanted to say that she was not young anymore, but when she thought that the other person might be an old monster who was tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of years old, she didn't say it.
She clasped her hands in a fist salute and then sat down on the throne.
The game begins.
Before Han Wei and Wei Ruoer had even made a move, many people watching from the sidelines became nervous for Han Wei.
————
Half an hour later.
"You flatter me!" Han Wei stood up from the throne and bowed to the girl who had turned into a wooden sculpture.
Wei Ruoer still couldn't believe she had lost. She had actually lost to a little girl, a little girl who hadn't even become an immortal yet.
"Aa ...
Wei Ruoer let out screams, which created a series of sound waves that immediately formed a storm that spread outwards, frightening everyone around her and causing them to raise their light shields to protect themselves.
Han Wei stood in the storm, her body radiating spiritual light, with strands of immortal energy automatically protecting her. Everyone was astonished to see that she, a mere early-stage Mahayana cultivator, had actually cultivated immortal energy, and even thirty-six strands of it at that.
Even Luo Xuan, Hongye, and Xie Wei were surprised. Han Wei had never used her magic before, so even they hadn't noticed that she actually had thirty-six strands of immortal energy.
Wei Ruoer stopped screaming and looked at Han Wei in shock: "You've actually cultivated immortal energy? What's going on? You... you're only at the Mahayana stage!"
Han Wei hadn't expected to reveal that she already possessed an ethereal aura. She forced a smile and said, "Well, well, it's a long story."
