Chapter 125 Ghost Marriage

Wang Yao took the soul lantern and discovered that, under the light of the lamp wick, the winding route of part of the building appeared on the white paper lantern, and in the center of the pattern, there was a white dot.

"This must be me, right?" Wang Yao had used navigation before he transmigrated, so he wasn't surprised to see the paper lantern. However, navigation required manual or voice operation, while this paper lantern could be controlled with just his mind, making it more advanced than the technology of the humans before he transmigrated.

He carried the lantern and silently prayed for a ghost marriage. Sure enough, outside the route shown on the paper cover, another bright spot appeared and kept flashing.

"Um... how about you give me another wick? I'm afraid the wick will run out before I even get on the shuttle, and we can't walk fast like this, right?" Wang Yao planned to go to several places in the Underworld, and one wick wouldn't be enough.

"Don't worry, it's enough for you to get back to Exit 1." The bespectacled ghost shook his head repeatedly. "This soul lamp was made by a genius. We ghosts can't make it at all. Even if we gave you the wick, you wouldn't be able to install it."

"Then give me another lantern. As you said, if the lantern goes out on the way, it will be quite a hassle," Wang Yao discussed with the bespectacled ghost.

"Here, that lantern must be lit with my soul fire. If I give you a lantern, you won't have any soul fire, so it's useless. Hurry up and go. There are rules above that an immortal can only give one lantern at a time when descending to the mortal realm. Don't make things difficult for me. If you had time to linger here with me, you would have arrived at your destination long ago."

The bespectacled man waved the lighter at Wang Yao. Wang Yao tried to reason with him for a while, but the bespectacled man just shook his head and eventually stopped talking altogether.

With no other option, Wang Yao had to take the Soul Lamp and walk out with Hui Shuo. With the Soul Lamp to guide them, they weren't worried about getting lost, but the Soul Lamp's time was limited, making it difficult for Wang Yao to wander around the Underworld.

But then he thought again, if he went to the Underworld Marriage Office, couldn't he get another soul lamp? Would the ghosts in the Underworld just watch him, an immortal, wander around aimlessly? This interface panel of his was related to the Old Man of the Moon's professional skills, his livelihood, so it was extremely important.

Now that I'm in the Underworld, I should try my best to open the Underworld interface window. At the very least, I should figure out why the interface was closed so I can figure out a solution when I get back to the Immortal Realm.

Once he made up his mind, Wang Yao took the soul lamp and went directly to the Underworld Marriage Office. In fact, the area where Wang Yao was located should be the gathering place of all the underworld officials on this floor, so the Underworld Marriage Office was not too far away from here.

The building was just too big. After all, the Underworld Marriage Office and the Wandering Soul Office had different functions, so even though it wasn't far, it was still quite a walk. Wang Yao carried the soul lamp shakily. Fortunately, there were no ghost skateboards here, otherwise, if those skateboards had glided by, they would have created a gust of wind, and the soul lamp would have been in danger.

The two went through this door and that door, walked down a corridor, and then through a series of doors. Wang Yao followed the signs and saw that the Ghost Marriage Office was just ahead. He went through one door and found that there were four open doors inside. Male and female ghosts were coming and going in pairs between the four doors.

It seems that the business of organizing ghost marriages is quite busy.

Wang Yao nodded and went through the large door on the far left. Inside was a rectangular room of about ten square meters, with rows of seats on both sides, similar to a small church of a foreign religion. In front, where there was a shrine to a foreign god, stood a ghost with a fierce face.

A male and a female ghost stood opposite the evil spirit, listening to what he was saying. Two other ghosts stood beside the pair, seemingly their friends, also listening intently.

"...You've only been married for seven years, why are you getting a divorce already? What we in the underworld dislike most is whirlwind marriages and divorces. You've been married for seven years and haven't even had a child. What are you getting a divorce for? Are you trying to take advantage of some ghost marriage?" the evil ghost said gruffly.

Upon hearing this, Wang Yao realized he had entered a place for divorce proceedings. Listening to the evil spirit's words, he thought to himself, "Seven years is not a short time in the human world, but it's considered a quick divorce in the underworld?" He was only curious and not in a hurry to leave, so he stayed there to listen to what they had to say.

"Your Majesty, I am certain that my client would never dare to covet the dangers of a ghostly marriage. The divorce was truly a last resort for him," a ghost suddenly spoke up.

"Hongying not only doesn't work hard as a ghost, but since marrying Guo Ran, she relies entirely on him for social security and housing fund benefits. She also loves buying designer brands and acting like a socialite. She spends all the money she earns on luxury goods. She doesn't even look at cosmetics that aren't from Manjusaka, leather goods from Bull Head, or clothing from Love Life..."

"Guo Ran married Hong Ying because he wanted to live a good life with her in the underworld and have more little ghosts to contribute to the underworld. But he was already doing eight part-time jobs as a ghost. After paying for his family's social security and housing fund, he had very little money left. Even so, he never thought of divorcing Hong Ying."

"It was Hongying who insisted on the divorce, and Guo Ran had no choice but to come to the underworld marriage office. I beg Lord Underworld to make a wise decision."

"Guo Ran, is what this ghost says true?" The underworld official looked at the male ghost.

“My lord, everything the ghost said is true. I was thinking that although I haven’t earned much money and my wife and I have no hope of being reincarnated, as long as Hongying doesn’t mind, I still plan to live well with her. Having a companion will make being a ghost more comfortable, and having a little ghost will also earn me some contribution…”

“But Hongying is determined to divorce me now, and I’m afraid that if I force her to, I’ll end up being cuckolded and have no face left to live on. Besides, I’ll be more relaxed after the divorce and can even dream about being reborn into a better family. So I don’t want to continue this relationship. Please grant me a divorce.”
