Wang Yao felt that the hook at one end of the fishing line had disappeared from his mind, and a hazy golden light had appeared at the other end. A large question mark was flashing in the golden light, asking Wang Yao what secret the green-robed ghost wanted to know.
"What is the Green-Robed Ghost most afraid of?" In his desperation, Wang Yao could only ask the most important question.
The green-robed ghost was completely unaware of the spell being cast on Wang Yao. He simply waved his hands repeatedly, and thick yin energy danced and crisscrossed around him like a dragon. With each strike, a large white patch appeared in the corridor, and in the blink of an eye, dozens of ghosts turned to ashes under his attack.
In the short time it took for Wang Yao to arrive, the man in green robes had already killed no fewer than several hundred ghosts. He killed them cleanly and decisively without hesitation, which must have been an order from above, vowing to kill all these ghosts who had betrayed the underworld before he would stop.
Wang Yao's question arose from the depths of his heart, and the golden light in his mind immediately dispersed, revealing a picture: a green-robed ghost kneeling on the ground, with an old man in a Western-style suit and a white beard standing there, fiercely rebuking him. The green-robed ghost lowered his head, his face full of fear.
There was a line of small characters next to the old man's head: "Gu Qi, the judge and master of floor zero in the underworld."
"Oh, this green-robed ghost is most afraid of being taught a lesson by this old guy named Gu Qi." Wang Yao was certain in his heart and immediately shouted.
"Gucci is here!"
Upon hearing Wang Yao's shout, the green-robed ghost trembled and immediately stopped killing the ghost. It turned its head and looked around, finally staring at Wang Yao suspiciously.
"What are you yelling about? Where is Lord Gu?"
“Aren’t you afraid that Gu Qi will punish you for this indiscriminate killing?” Wang Yao shouted.
"Nonsense! This was ordered by Lord Gu. Why would he punish me?" the green-robed ghost said, blinking his eyes. He could tell that Wang Yao was bluffing him. Although he was curious about how Wang Yao knew Lord Gu's name, he didn't want to delve into it and just wanted to complete the task.
As he spoke, the green-robed ghost turned around and saw that the ghosts, surrounding Hui Shuo, had already run off a bit further.
After hearing what the green-robed ghost said, Wang Yao realized that the person who had just spoken to him while invisible was most likely that Gu Qi. Seeing that the green-robed ghost was about to chase after Hui Shuo again, he hurriedly shouted loudly again.
"Won't Gu Qi punish you for what he ordered? There are probably several thousand of these ghosts. You killed them all, completely annihilating them. The ghost population in the underworld is already strained. If several thousand ghosts suddenly disappear from Floor Zero, won't the higher-ups hold Gu Qi accountable?"
"If Gu Qi is held accountable by his superiors, will he feel good about it? Who does he hate the most? Isn't it you, who personally killed these thousands of ghost mouths?"
Just as the green-robed ghost was about to make his move, he heard Wang Yao's words and stopped in his tracks, his expression shifting rapidly. Wang Yao had really hit the nail on the head. He had always served under Gu Qi and knew Gu Qi's temperament best; Gu Qi was a man of unpredictable temper.
He had a particular fondness for taking his anger out on ghosts. The green-robed ghost had been wronged by Gu Qi countless times, which was why he was so afraid of him. After all, if you knew why you were unlucky, you could avoid trouble and seek peace of mind. But with Gu Qi, there was absolutely no clue to follow.
For example, the ancient-style blue robe he was wearing was because Gu Qi once angrily said that he looked too ugly in Western clothes, so he changed to ancient clothing to avoid trouble. However, even after changing to an ancient robe, Gu Qi was still not satisfied. It wasn't until he changed the color of the robe to blue that Gu Qi stopped making a fuss about his clothes.
Unexpectedly, he even earned the nickname "Green Robe." It's alright if he eventually figured it out; the worst thing is when Gu Qi gets angry for no reason at all. It's like when he went to run a part-time job during his work break, and Gu Qi came back furious.
He guessed that Gu Qi didn't want him to do part-time work and interfere with his main job, but if he didn't do part-time work for ten days in a row, Gu Qi would definitely scold him for not being ambitious and not even having a part-time job. This put him in a difficult position. He simply didn't know whether it was better to do part-time work or not.
So when serving Gu Qi, he often felt completely lost, always feeling that no matter what he did, he was wrong. Even when trying to read Gu Qi's expression, he would sometimes make mistakes. Gu Qi's face might seem gentle and kind, but often, the moment he turned around, a slap would land on his face, and it was impossible to defend against it.
This is also the so-called "management technique" used by many unit leaders: to prevent others from guessing what they are thinking. To put it nicely, it's called having personality; to put it bluntly, it's called proactive mania. It keeps subordinates in a constant state of tension, making them feel that they might be wronged at any moment, in order to show off their abilities and leadership authority.
The green-robed ghost suffered greatly from Gu Qi's ailment. Upon hearing Wang Yao's words, he immediately became suspicious and felt that it was indeed true. However, he was told not to kill the ghost, which was clearly Gu Qi's order, and he dared not disobey. But if he really killed the ghost, he was afraid that Gu Qi would settle scores with him later.
Now the green-robed ghost was in a dilemma, his face growing increasingly grim, clearly unable to think of a solution and extremely anxious.
“Let me tell you, that monk is no ordinary monk. Why didn’t Gu Qi dare to kill him? It’s because…” Wang Yao was overjoyed to see that his words had worked, and he planned to trick the green-robed ghost into sending Hui Shuo away as well.
This monk is a highly respected monk, and he has connections with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Even though Gu Qi might pretend to be angry, he would surely praise the green-robed ghost for his competence and might even reward him in the future.
He had already thought about what he was going to say, but unexpectedly, the voice above his head rang out again.
"Green Robe, don't listen to the Old Man of the Moon's nonsense, carry out the order!"
"Yes!" The green-robed ghost shuddered and took off chasing after him again, but his speed was far less than before, clearly indicating that his concerns had not been completely dispelled.
