Chapter 143 Blockade

Wu Ying thought that as long as the shield was replenished every four hours, there shouldn't be any problems.

Wang Yao was a little puzzled when he heard this. He felt that it shouldn't last that long, and he was worried that the protective shield might be shortened due to the invasion of corpse energy. After discussing it, Wang Yao decided that it would be more appropriate to insist on three hours.

Wu Ying's expression turned somewhat unpleasant, but Wang Yao assumed it was because he was overwhelmed with worries and didn't take it to heart.

After walking for a long time, the corridor gradually widened again, becoming no different in width from other corridors. Then they came to a side road, and Wuying told Wang Yao that this was the main road leading from the Underworld Queen District to the Underworld Affairs District.

After thinking it over, Wang Yao decided that it would be more appropriate to have Hui Shuo guard the corridor, since moving many people and ghosts quickly would be a physically demanding task.

He figured that since Wuying was a ghost, he should be more used to being with a ghost, so he let Huishuo stay, which would lighten Wuying's burden a bit.

He had Hui Shuo start chanting scriptures in the middle of the corridor, carefully checked the range of the golden light, and arranged for several ghosts to be divided into two rows to ensure that the corpse energy had no gaps to penetrate. Then he began to look for ghosts who were willing to go with him to the other main roads and wind tunnels to block the corpse energy.

Although sealing off the passage and blocking the corpse energy was a dangerous thing for these ghosts, they were all still very enthusiastic. However, as soon as they heard that they had to leave Huishuo, none of them except Qin Su were willing.

Wang Yao tried to persuade them for a long time, but each ghost wanted to tell the others to leave so they could stay and keep the holy monk company. After arguing for a while, none of them took the initiative.

Finally, Wuying came up with a solution. He pointed out that there was a node in the wind tunnel nearby, so there were a total of seven locations that needed to be sealed off from the corpse energy, including the four nodes in the wind tunnel. Two of these locations were near Huishuo.

Everyone would draw lots based on luck, and there would be nearly a one-in-three chance of accompanying the holy monk. The corpse energy must be blocked, otherwise everyone would eventually die anyway. The ghosts all thought this made sense, and so they started making a ruckus again to draw lots.

After much bickering, the ghosts finally settled on the rules regarding how to capture, what to capture, and who should go first. Only then, under the supervision of the high-ranking ghosts in green robes, including Wuying, did they begin the capture process.

When the results came out, those who had accompanied the holy monk, such as the ghost of transportation Huang Sheng, were naturally overjoyed. Those who had gone to other places were arrested, and they began to question whether Wu Ying and his group had tampered with the lot.

Wuying immediately turned hostile and told the ghosts that if they didn't want to go, they should say so now. They could just go home and have one last beheading with their ghost wives and children, and then wait to die at home.

The ghosts reluctantly agreed, but then they all whispered among themselves and ran to Hui Shuo's side, saying that the ghost wife was just something Wu Ying made up, but it had nothing to do with them. They were all single, and even if they had ghost wives in the past, they were planning to divorce them now.

However, most of the ghosts do not need to go into battle for the time being. Wang Yao told them to be prepared. Once the corpse energy gets into a place, these ghosts will have to put on protective shields and sacrifice themselves to destroy it.

After settling Hui Shuo and the other ghosts who were happily picking up scraps on the main road, Wu Ying led Wang Yao to the area below the nearby wind tunnel node, opened the air intake grille, and let the ghosts crawl in one by one.

There's not much need for ghosts here; three of them climbed in one after the other and completely blocked the air duct.

After hastily dealing with the passage between the Underworld Queen District and the Underworld Affairs District, Wuying prepared to take Wang Yao to the main road between the Underworld Queen District and the Underworld Residence District. He could only take one ghost or one person at a time, so he had to make several trips back and forth. Fortunately, it would take some time for the corpse energy to arrive, so Wuying wasn't in a hurry.

"Lord of the Moon, be careful!" Wuying shouted softly, and black mist rose from beneath his feet. Wang Yao was worried that his immortal body might hurt Wuying, but unexpectedly, Wuying did not make contact with Wang Yao at all; the black mist simply spread to Wang Yao's feet.

As the black fog gradually thickened, Wang Yao and his companion felt as if they were floating on clouds in the stairwell. Then, Wu Ying shouted, "Go!"

As if a slow-moving car had suddenly accelerated, Wang Yao leaned back, and with a "whoosh," the walls on both sides of the corridor rushed past him, the wind whistling in his ears.

Wuying's speed technique is indeed powerful. Although it is not teleportation, it is more suitable for moving through complex buildings like the Underworld. Wang Yao felt as if his body had suddenly turned into a bullet fired from a gun barrel, rushing toward the target at an unstoppable speed.

The process was so fast that it caused his body and vision to split apart. While his vision was still fixed on a wall that was getting closer and closer, his body had already sped off into a stairwell beyond several side streets. Wang Yao could hardly think, as if even his breathing had stopped.

At that moment, only scattered fragments remained in his mind: the rapidly approaching wall, the suddenly shrinking corridor, the corner that suddenly slammed into him, and the fear of not being able to control his own body. His heart was filled with the helplessness of being manipulated by an irresistible force.

This reminded Wang Yao of the roller coaster he had ridden before his time travel. That thing was somewhat similar to this one, especially when the roller coaster was rushing down from a height, and you were looking at the ground getting closer and closer, and your mind was completely blank.

When they stopped, Wang Yao began to tremble uncontrollably, shaking so violently that he could barely stand. He leaned against the wall of the stairwell, closed his eyes, and calmed himself for a long time before gradually recovering.

As soon as he regained the ability to act, he immediately labeled himself a "good guy," secretly wondering what Wuying meant. Did he want to kill him?
