He didn't believe Qin Su and Wang Yao could be lovers. After all, immortals and ghosts are different, and their bodies cannot touch each other. Immortals have strong yang energy, which would burn ghosts to death. He only thought that Qin Su must have had some interaction with this immortal in her previous life, which was already an extremely coincidental thing in the underworld.
Regardless, the Daoist Master of the Impermanence had already decided that this female ghost must be properly protected. Right now, the protection of Floor Zero is entirely due to the Old Man of the Moon. If Qin Su were to die by accident, the immortals would be enraged, and everyone would all be doomed.
Wang Yao followed the Daoist Master to the front of the blockade, where he saw a fierce ghost with a bare upper body, holding a rusty horse-slaying sword with several fingernails missing from the blade, roaring fiercely.
"Charge!" The fierce ghost roared, brandishing his saber. The ghosts at the front of each line also shouted and charged forward. A hundred meters ahead, the fallen ghosts filled the corridor, piled up and stretched far into the distance, their end invisible.
Dozens of little yellow men, some in front and some behind, were hopping and jumping on the fallen ghost, closing in. When Wang Yao saw this, he knew it was the old trick of the underworld district: using ghost lives to block the corpse puppet.
The fierce ghost wielding the horse-slaying sword was observing the situation. As soon as it saw the corpse puppet approaching and there were no more ghosts to stop it, it immediately howled and urged the ghosts to rush out and intercept it.
In truth, these ghosts who rushed forward were unwilling to die, but they were surrounded by high-ranking ghosts. At worst, they would be infected with corpse qi and have a chance of being saved. If they hesitated, they would probably be annihilated immediately. So these ghosts had no choice but to fight to the death.
If I have to blame someone, it's because I became a ghost too late, my realm in the underworld was too low, my seniority was too shallow, my contributions were too few, and I didn't have any solid connections.
Wang Yao first added protective shields to each of the ghosts lined up, then leaped out and rushed towards the hopping and approaching yellow men.
The Dao Master of the Impermanence Dao was not a coward either. Like the Dao Masters of the Yin-Yang Dao and the Yellow Spring Dao whom Wang Yao had seen, he also let out a shout and rushed out after Wang Yao.
Seeing the Dao Lord rush out, all the ghosts with protective shields along the blocking line, including the fierce ghost holding the broken horse-slaying knife, also leaped out of the blocking line. Qin Su also wanted to rush forward, but she was already held back by several ghosts around her.
Dozens more chimneys appeared in the corridor, and the situation at the blockade point in the Underworld District finally stabilized. Wang Yao didn't have time to turn around and greet Qin Su, and he didn't have time to adjust the formation of the blockade point. He couldn't care less about that now.
Seeing that there were no more corpse puppets ahead, he gave a brief instruction to the Daoist Master of the Impermanence Path, and then had Wuying use a speed spell to carry him into the Underworld Queen Zone.
Although the ghosts lying on the ground could probably still be healed, Wang Yao was in a hurry to get to the next area with Wuying, so he could only leave the ghosts lying on the ground and pray that they could buy him some more time.
Traveling through areas shrouded in corpse fumes is not very convenient, mainly because the black smoke from the two protective shields is too thick, obstructing visibility.
Fortunately, Wuying has its own soul lamp to guide it, so it doesn't rely entirely on its eyes to determine direction. As long as there are no large obstacles on the way, it won't be greatly affected when casting spells.
Two ghosts, trailing long plumes of black smoke, rushed forward and lay on the ground. The number of fallen ghosts infected with the corpse aura gradually decreased, and the corridor began to feel deserted and eerie. Wang Yao could only hear Wu Ying's heavy breathing, but after quickly turning a few corners, the fallen ghosts reappeared.
The mournful howls of a vengeful spirit suffering from moderate corpse aura could be heard echoing through the corridors from time to time. The howls were amplified by the echoes in the empty corridors, sounding like the dying cries of a wild beast, which made Wang Yao feel a sense of desolation and helplessness.
Further on, you can even occasionally see some fierce ghosts biting and tearing at each other, and there seem to be one or two little yellow people jumping around in the corridor. Their invisible magic is swift, and as long as they are not forced to stop, they will pass by them in a flash.
Wang Yao's original plan to easily eliminate the Minions was thwarted by the speed difference. When he felt his body rise up almost imperceptibly, it meant the ambush point was approaching, and the fallen monsters beneath his feet began to pile up densely.
As it turns out, rescuing the blockade from the front and back is an extremely effective method. A ghost was howling and lunging at the Minion, but when it grabbed him, not only did it emit thick black smoke, but the Minion also turned into a chimney.
The ghost was stunned, but when it saw an immortal walking by, it knew it had escaped death and immediately cheered with joy.
The two minions fought their way to the blockade, and before the screams at the blockade had even stopped, most of them had already been covered in or had protective shields added to their bodies.
Wang Yao didn't say much to the ghosts. Black mist rose from beneath Wuying's feet, and the two turned back and rushed back to the Underworld District, heading towards other blockades.
They passed through the first few checkpoints in this way, and everything seemed to be going smoothly. However, after passing through the return air passage checkpoint, the situation gradually became more serious. Sometimes, the two of them had to step over the fallen ghosts and run up to the boss to find the checkpoint.
The reason, of course, is that the first line of defense has been breached, and the ghosts in the building have begun to retreat to the second line of defense.
There were various reasons why the defensive line was breached. Some were because the cannon fodder ghosts did not follow up, but most of the time it was because the high-level corpse puppet little yellow man was too agile. He evaded several cannon fodder ghosts and rushed directly into the blockade point.
If just two or three little yellow men rush into the blockade, the blockade will naturally collapse. In other cases, because the air is thick with the aura of death, most of the ghosts at the blockade have fallen, forcing the supervising ghost to move the defensive line back.
