Chapter 181 The Garden of a Hundred Beasts

"Let's go take a look!" The fairy nodded and strode forward, with Wang Yao quickly following closely behind.

As they approached, Wang Yao discovered that the ghostly procession was actually a caravan, with carriages lined up one after another, numbering in the hundreds at first glance. Two rows of ghosts followed on either side of the procession. When they saw Wang Yao and his companion approaching, the ghosts ignored them and urged the carriages forward.

Wang Yao was astonished to discover that there were question marks next to the heads of these ghosts, and that the cultivation levels of these cart-driving ghosts were all above his.

"Two immortals, we are the family of King Pingdeng. The upper eighteenth floor of the train station in Falling Moon Valley has been occupied by corpse puppets, and we can't go down. We can only take refuge in King Biancheng's hunting grounds. Are you two immortals here to help my underworld resist the corpse energy?"

A manager stepped forward, bowed to Wang Yao and the other two, and said...

"The family of King Pingdeng? What about King Pingdeng? And King Biancheng?" the fairy asked.

“King Biancheng left long ago. Our lord has been busy with the matter of the corpse energy and was the last to move out of the eighteenth floor. As a result, our last group can’t leave. Fortunately, the corpse energy isn’t spreading too quickly, otherwise we would all be doomed,” the steward ghost said, shaking his head.

"This is King Biancheng's hunting grounds? Why haven't we seen any animals?" Wang Yao clicked his tongue, somewhat puzzled. They hadn't seen any living creatures except for grass. Hunting? What kind of hunting? Were they just cutting grass?

"Um... Immortal, you may not know this, but His Highness has a special animal park where all kinds of rare and exotic beasts from the Six Realms are kept. They are only released into the hunting grounds as needed before a hunt. The hunting grounds are too large, and if they are released randomly, they will be difficult to hunt if they run away."

The manager explained to Wang Yao.

"Is your prince still here?" The fairy couldn't help but interrupt when she saw Wang Yao and the steward ghost chatting about some irrelevant things.

"Our lord took the previous caravan down there, and he ordered me to escort this caravan to clean up the mess. I never expected that in just two days, we would be unable to leave Luoyue Valley," the steward said with a worried expression.

"Have you seen any immortals on your way here?" the fairy maiden asked, glancing in the direction the caravan had come from.

"Aside from you two immortals, we haven't seen any others. These immortals are strange. A while ago, when we came and went from our palace, we saw quite a few immortals. But these past few days have been strange; we haven't seen a single one. Could it be that other places are more dangerous than here?"

"My lord, this eighteenth floor is where the Kings of Hell work and live. There is no place more important than this in the entire underworld. You immortals must not lose sight of the bigger picture for the sake of the small. What does it matter if a few of those rotten ghosts below die? Our underworld has plenty of ghosts."

“But if any of the Kings of Hell above suffer even the slightest injury, it would be a tremendous loss to our Underworld!” the supervising ghost said solemnly to the fairy.

"Hmm, you have quite the high level of awareness, are you a ghost lord or a ghost marquis?" Wang Yao laughed.

"I wouldn't dare," the ghost steward said somewhat ashamedly. "I'm incredibly clumsy in cultivation and wasn't originally qualified to come to the eighteenth floor. It was only because Lord Pingdeng saw that I was quite meticulous in my work that he specially promoted me to be a third-class steward in the palace. I'm still a ghost now."

"Oh, Japanese soldiers are in charge? Are all these drivers ghost men and ghost soldiers?" Wang Yao asked in astonishment, looking at the ghost streamers walking silently past him.

Having spent so long in the underworld, he had already gained a general understanding of the levels of ghosts and the realms of immortals. Yama, the Ghost King, and most of the Ghost Lords were probably similar to immortals in the Integration stage, while this Ghost was equivalent to a figure like Cai Xia in the Divine Transformation stage.

The ghost man and ghost merit were either Nascent Soul cultivators or Transformation Realm cultivators. Wang Yao couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement at the thought that these powerful ghost cultivators were actually working as coachmen here.

"How could that be? Ghost men and ghost merits are at least retainers serving the Ghost Lord. This place mainly consists of ghost warriors, and some ghost leaders and ghost protectors." The steward ghost hurriedly shook his head.

"Oh, I see?" Wang Yao blinked a few times before he finally understood. He had been wondering where the Ghost Warriors, Ghost Leaders, Ghost Protectors, and Ghost Assistants had gone, since on floor zero, besides the Ghost Generals and Ghost Commanders, he had mainly seen Ghost Warriors and Ghost Geniuses.

It turns out they were mainly doing odd jobs for higher-ranking ghosts.

"Stop arguing here, let's go take a look at the Prince of Biancheng's palace." The fairy urged Wang Yao, and walked ahead on her own. Wang Yao smiled at the Japanese soldier and quickly caught up with the fairy.

The fairy godmother teleported with Wang Yao twice more, and a large lake appeared before them. Weeping willows were densely planted along the lake, and a cobblestone path wound around the lake. On the opposite shore, one could vaguely make out the shapes of buildings and houses. The air here was still fresh and did not seem to be polluted by the corpse aura.

Wang Yao and the fairy walked along the cobblestone path toward the buildings and houses. Gradually, various flowers appeared amidst the greenery on both sides of the path. Later, both sides were covered with blooming flowers, and the two felt as if they had entered a garden.

The buildings and houses were nestled among the blooming flowers. As Wang Yao and his companion walked over, they saw that the building was a hip-roofed structure with double eaves and upturned corners, and the plaque above the entrance bore the three large characters "Hundred Beasts Garden".

"This...this isn't the Prince's Mansion? How come the Soul Lamp shows that it's the location of the Prince of Biancheng's Mansion?" The fairy looked at the plaque of "Hundred Beasts Garden" and then at the Soul Lamp in her hand, frowning and asking blankly.

"The Prince's Mansion should still be ahead, right?" Wang Yao looked around and saw that the path continued to extend forward from the gate of the "Hundred Beasts Garden," so he pointed to the path and said to the fairy.

“How could that be? This place is backed by mountains and faces a lake, it’s the best environment…” Fairy was still wondering when suddenly a deep roar came from the “Beast Garden”, like a tiger’s roar, but much louder.
