A sliver of green light flew out from the roller shutter door, returned to Cao Xian's hand, and then vanished without a trace.
"Old Cao, what level is your amoeba?" Fairy asked from the side.
"Only level three, it can't transform into a living being yet, it can only do things like sneaking into doors and picking locks," Cao Xian replied.
"That's just how Director Cao is. He doesn't learn any of the powerful magic techniques, but he insists on learning these low-down methods."
"You know, most of the immortals in our office have a bit of OCD. If they hide something, they'll keep wanting to check it, always afraid that Director Cao will use this evil magic to take it away silently," Liu Xikai said to Wang Yao.
"You little brat, you love to talk nonsense. When have I ever stolen anything from you?" Cao Xian said irritably.
"Last time, Shan Laowu's brand new phone was stolen before he even used it, locked in his own bedside table drawer. You dare say you weren't the one who tampered with it?" Liu Xikai sneered, glancing sideways at Cao Xian.
"When have I ever stolen Shan Laowu's phone? Don't talk nonsense, kid. Whoever steals a phone, may their whole family die!" Cao Xian was angered by Liu Xikai's words and shouted curses.
His voice rose, highlighting the desolation of the city around him, and Wang Yao's face suddenly turned pale.
"No...no, everyone's dead?" Wang Yao stared wide-eyed at the fairy, stammering as the city's desolate state easily conjured up unpleasant images.
Before he finished speaking, suddenly with a "whoosh," a dump truck, like a prehistoric monster, rushed past the immortals, bringing with it a gust of wind, as if the driver had intended to run over these immortals but had carelessly lost his aim.
“How is that possible? It’s midnight, how could there be so many people on the streets of the human realm?” Fairy glanced at the speeding dump truck and said to Wang Yao.
Upon seeing the dump truck, Wang Yao realized he had misunderstood. He didn't feel embarrassed at all; instead, he felt a huge weight lifted from his heart.
Immediately afterwards, Wang Yao's hand was taken by the fairy, Cao Xian took the fairy's other hand, and Liu Xikai took Cao Xian's hand.
"Little Wang, hold the Cloud-Ascending Beast in your arms, we'll teleport together immediately," the fairy said to Wang Yao.
"Is this my first time here?" Cao Xian looked at the fairy maiden.
“Okay, the last one is Xiao Liu’s. Wang Yao can’t teleport,” the fairy said.
“I know.” Cao Xian nodded. Wang Yao had just pulled the Cloud-Ascending Beast, which was dozing on his shoulder, into his arms when he felt a blur before his eyes. When he opened his eyes again, it was still night, but the surrounding environment had changed to the wilderness.
Wang Yao understood that the reason they held hands before teleporting was to ensure that all the partners could stay together and not be separated after the teleportation.
He was waiting for the fairy to use her teleportation a second time when he suddenly heard Cao Xian shout "Wait!" and then he saw him slap Liu Xi hard on the head.
"I told you not to call me a thief, I told you not to suspect me of stealing a phone!" Cao Xian slapped him repeatedly.
"Director Cao, can you please think a little faster next time? You've completely stunned me. Who told you to raise those amoebas? You think you're so clever? When everyone's stuff goes missing, who else would we suspect if not you?" Liu Xikai cried out, clutching his head.
Wang Yao and the fairy were also momentarily bewildered before they understood why Cao Xian had punished Liu Xikai. They couldn't help but find it amusing that Cao Xian's reaction speed was indeed a bit hasty.
"You don't know anything. This amoeba is an extremely rare celestial beast. I don't know how much effort I put into finding one in the Desolate Immortal Realm and slowly taming it to this day. The effort I've put in is countless. Once this amoeba matures, it can transform into the appearance of living beings."
"By then, even if I become your beloved employer, you won't see a thing. This is such a rare thing, yet all you see is how to use it to sneak in and pick locks. You're all blind as dogs," Cao Xian said angrily.
"You're the one who said amoebas can sneak in and pick locks, and now that's even better. From now on, I'll be more careful when I see acquaintances, because you might be the one causing trouble," Liu Xikai said, his face changing drastically.
"Hehe, good to know. You guys like to talk bad about me behind my back, thinking I don't know? Let's see who dares to spout nonsense again." Cao Xian laughed smugly.
"Heaven and earth bear witness, I, Liu Xikai, always speak ill of others to their faces, I've never learned to talk behind their backs," Liu Xikai cried out, feeling wronged.
Cao Xian and Liu Xikai were bickering there. Wang Yao thought for a moment, then let go of Xiangu's hand, took out his phone from his pocket, and dialed Huagu's number.
It's nighttime in the human realm, so teleporting wouldn't take them long. Wang Yao felt he should ask Hua Gu to put his mind at ease, but the phone rang for a long time without being answered.
"Who are you calling?" the fairy asked from the side.
"Hua Gu, I'd like to ask him about the current situation in the human realm," Wang Yao said.
"Why did you suddenly decide to call him now? The zombie apocalypse in the human realm is the busiest time for the immortal healer. He doesn't have time to answer your call right now," the fairy said, shaking her head.
“Uh…” Wang Yao thought to himself that what the fairy said made sense. He was thinking of calling Fatty Hu Fei again, but then he suddenly had a bright idea. Instead of asking the fairy, he should open the interface panel and enter the Ascension Group to take a look. He believed that there should be a discussion about zombie disease in the group.
I haven't logged into the Sky Climbing Group for so long that I completely forgot there was such a convenient way.
As he pulled out the interface panel, he suddenly realized that he hadn't submitted his daily, weekly, or monthly reports for quite some time. He wondered what trouble Lü Xian would cause him this time.
