Wang Yao found himself in a vast space that resembled a factory in the human world. The ceiling height was more than three or four times that of the normal floor of this zero-floor building, and the space was filled with a network of thick pipes.
These pipes, each about the size of a person, some upright, some tilted, some extending horizontally, are all intertwined and chaotic. Wang Yao couldn't figure out their purpose or direction at all; he only saw that there were many steel passageways and staircases connecting the pipes.
It was clear that ghosts used to come and work here, but now, apart from the wisps of black smoke rising between the pipes, not a single ghost can be seen.
"Is this the Three-Way Center?" Wang Yao asked in astonishment.
None of the three Yama Kings, including the fairy maiden, responded to him immediately. Instead, they all stared solemnly ahead.
"The three-way center is still ahead; this is the outer pipeline area," King Qin Guang said softly.
The fairy maiden slowly took a step forward.
"Beware of a sneak attack by the spirit," Emperor Song suddenly said.
"We'll be on guard, Old Man of the Moon. Once we find the essence, we'll hand it over to you," Yama, the King of Hell, said again.
"Wait a minute..." Wang Yao was stunned. The information from the horse stock market hadn't come over yet. He really didn't know what to do when he encountered a spirit body.
"We can't wait any longer, the enemy has already discovered us..." Before Yama could finish speaking, a deafening cacophony suddenly erupted from the dense network of pipes ahead. Wang Yao was astonished to see countless dark figures rising up like a massive army appearing out of nowhere.
It was a tidal wave of corpse puppets that quickly filled Wang Yao's entire field of vision, sweeping towards the four of them.
These corpse puppets included low-level corpse puppets with two heads and four arms, as well as those little yellow men and all sorts of beast-shaped corpse puppets. Interspersed among them were tall, high-level humanoid corpse puppets that were easily distinguishable.
They didn't utter a single roar; the sound was entirely produced by their feet pounding the ground, pipes, and iron ladders, yet it still sounded like thunder, terrifying and awe-inspiring.
"Well done!" The fairy gave a soft shout, her left hand, adorned with a ring, extended forward, while her right hand made a delicate pink gesture at her cheek. Suddenly, her entire body shone with a bright pink light, and Wang Yao was astonished to see pink lotus flowers, each the size of a fingertip, fly off from her ring.
These lotus flowers grew rapidly in the wind, reaching the size of a bowl in the blink of an eye, and continued to grow. As they swelled, they slowly flew towards the army of corpse puppets.
"Attention, Old Man of the Moon!" Yama shouted softly. His robes suddenly trembled, and countless small black insects flew out from his body. These insects flapped their black wings and flew away in all directions as soon as they left Yama's body.
Some of them landed on the ground, while others lay on the pipes. In the blink of an eye, Wang Yao and his companions were surrounded by these tiny insects. As more and more black insects appeared on Yama's body, these insects continued to expand their territory, whether flying or crawling.
Looking at the overwhelming swarms of wriggling and flying black insects, Wang Yao couldn't help but get goosebumps all over his body.
"Old Yan, isn't it a bit too early to unleash such a powerful move right from the start?" King Qin Guang chuckled.
"The only way to prevent attacks from spirits is with these Ten Thousand Soul Ants. I will hold the line; the fighting is up to you," Yama said calmly.
"Alright!" King Qin Guang replied. With a shudder, his figure suddenly grew taller, and the robes he was wearing instantly transformed into a heavy suit of armor. His height became the same as that of the high-level humanoid corpse puppet.
After transforming, King Qin Guang stretched out one hand, and thick Yin energy rolled in his palm. Before long, a black giant sword slowly took shape in his hand. This giant sword was so huge that even with King Qin Guang's magnificent physique after transforming, he could only hold it with both hands.
King Qin Guang, wielding a heavy sword, slowly took a step forward. Wherever he landed, the soul ants released by King Yama roared up and flew in all directions.
With a few strides, he overtook the fairy maiden and rushed to the front of the four. His pace quickened, and in the end, he was running towards the oncoming army of corpse puppets.
Emperor Song chuckled, flicked his finger, and where the dark light fell, soul ants soared into the air. A series of cracking sounds were heard, and a snow-white skeleton stood up from the ground.
The skeleton held a bone knife, and small black flames flickered in the two holes on its head where its eyes were. It glanced at the army of corpse puppets rushing towards it, took two steps forward with a "clack-clack" sound, pointed the bone knife forward, and another skeleton crawled up from the ground.
As the skeleton moved forward step by step, its bone knife pointed forward again and again. More and more skeletons rose from the ground. After taking a few steps, the skeleton stopped moving forward and stood there, swinging its bone knife again and again, just like a fierce ghost commanding from the barricades.
Before long, it summoned over a hundred skeletons, each wielding a bone knife, which clanged as they charged forward towards the army of corpse puppets.
The first to collide with the army of corpse puppets was King Qin Guang. With a loud shout, he swung his heavy sword, and a dark light swept towards the army of corpse puppets in the direction the sword was swung. Wherever the dark light passed, whether it was corpse puppets, pipes, or iron ladders, they were all cut in two.
The tide of corpse puppets receded in large numbers.
King Qin Guang raised his heavy sword, changed his position, and swung it again. In that direction, the corpse puppets broke apart, the pipes collapsed, and there was a mess. Immediately afterwards, lotus flowers, each the size of a washbasin, slowly floated over his body and went towards the army of corpse puppets.
As the lotus flowers swayed, they emitted a dazzling pink light. Whether it was a high-level or low-level corpse puppet, once it was enveloped by this light, thick black smoke immediately rose from its body.
