In no time, the flames swelled into a huge fireball, about ten feet in diameter, and a scorching heat wave swept outwards without warning. The monsters in the square were stunned by the sudden appearance of the fireball, and those not far from it screamed and fled in panic.
The fireball seemed to breathe; after expanding, it contracted inward by about a foot, and then suddenly expanded outward by several feet, encompassing all the monsters that were slow to escape nearby.
Then, with a loud "bang," a helicopter on the helipad near the fireball suddenly burst into flames. A monster engulfed in flames jumped off the helicopter with a strange "Wah-la!" The surrounding monsters watching the spectacle screamed again.
With several contractions and expansions, seemingly in just a moment, the entire northeastern part of the square was covered by fireballs. The monsters that were engulfed were no longer able to make a sound, but their shadows could still be seen struggling within the flames.
But Wang Yao's attention was immediately drawn to a dark shadow inside the fireball. The shadow seemed to be slowly emerging from the depths of the fireball, growing larger and larger until it stood upright in the center of the fireball, like the dark pupil of an eye blazing with flames.
The pupil rolled slowly a few times in the fireball, and the monster that was still struggling inside the fireball quickly disappeared.
As the dark figure appeared, the Cloud-Ascending Beast roared again, its body slightly lowered as it faced the fireball, assuming an offensive stance.
After clearing the monsters out of the fireball, the dark figure turned to the Cloud-Ascending Beast and let out a sharp cry, the sound like coarse sandpaper repeatedly rubbing against a glass surface, sending chills down one's spine.
It was only then that Wang Yao could see clearly that the dark shadow was actually a large bird with entirely black feathers, shrouded in raging flames, coldly staring at the Cloud Ascending Beast with a pair of emotionless eyes.
"Fire Crow, where did it sneak in from?" A cry of alarm came from afar, as if the great immortal Tongxuan had lost his parents. Before he finished speaking, Tongxuan's figure suddenly swelled up, becoming the size of the Cloud Ascending Beast, like a small giant, and he took a step towards the fireball.
However, before the Great Immortal Tongxuan could make a move, the Cloud-Ascending Beast roared and leaped into the air with its four hooves pounding. Then it charged down towards the fireball like a giant meteor, colliding with it in the next second.
With a deafening roar, the flames seemed to burst open like flowers, or like a volcanic eruption, with countless fire rains shooting in all directions. The Great Immortal Tongxuan was stunned for a moment upon seeing this scene, and hurriedly stretched out his arms.
As he moved, several wind walls appeared on the square, surrounding the fireball and precisely blocking the fire rain. However, the wind walls were soon ignited by the fire rain and turned into a wall of fire.
"All clansmen, retreat immediately! Retreat immediately!..." The giant-like Tongxuan Immortal shouted as he waved his arms, causing the wall of fire to collapse and clusters of flames to appear on the ground of the square.
But then, tornadoes rose up in the square, sweeping away all the scattered spirits, regardless of whether they were on fire, dead or alive, injured or crippled.
At this moment, the monsters that had escaped from the square, the monsters that had come from the surrounding area to watch the excitement, the guards who were trying to maintain order and clear the area but were powerless to do so, and the armored vehicles that had just driven into the roads around the square were all crammed together.
The crowd was noisy and, upon hearing Tongxuan's shouts, not only did they not retreat, but they also squeezed further into the square. Especially in the northeast direction, some of the monsters who were watching the excitement were already being burned by the flames on the fireballs, letting out screams of agony.
"Help! Let me out!"
"Damn it, don't push me! Are you blind? There's fire up ahead!"
"Wow, what a huge fireball! What's going on?"
...
"Armored guards, stand by. Clear the roads around the armored vehicles. Plaza guards, lead your people away from the plaza immediately. Zhang Huang Imperial Guards, quickly relocate all people in the surrounding ten blocks to the outskirts of the administrative district. All evolved level seven and above, follow me!"
Another loud shout rang out, and Wang Yao saw a huge monster flying in from the sky ahead, its shape exactly the same as the firebird and the cloud-riding beast.
"Young Master!"
"Young Master is here!"
"Long live the Lord!"
"Long live!"
Upon seeing the spirit flying in the sky, the Zhanghuang people on the ground, whether guards, soldiers, or civilians, all looked up at the sky, danced with joy, and shouted "Long live!"
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..." Then several more huge figures swept into the square from all directions, surrounding the Cloud-Ascending Beast and the Firebird that were fighting fiercely.
At this moment, the Cloud-Ascending Beast had already fought the Firebird to a position near the center of the square. Wherever the fireball went, flames burned. The Zhanghuang tribesmen in the center of the square, who had not yet been swept away by the tornado, had not yet stopped shouting "Long live!" when they immediately let out a terrified cry.
A large insect that had just arrived was so enormous that Wang Yao couldn't identify its species. But then the insect shuddered, and a brownish-yellow spherical weapon, the same size as its body, appeared in front of it.
The giant insect pushed the sphere around the square, and the flames outside the battle zone were visibly extinguished. This guy was very agile and quick, but he didn't step on any of the monsters lying on the ground. Although the sphere ran over a few, it didn't seem to cause any serious damage.
Wang Yao discovered that apart from the brownish-yellow substance from the spheres covering their bodies and the strange expressions on their faces, the spirits did not appear to be seriously injured, nor were any of them crushed to death by the spheres.
