Chapter 262 Apologizing

Seeing Lady Lian's imposing presence, Li Kui's tone immediately softened considerably. He changed his self-address from "Grandpa" to "I, Laozi," and his condemnation of the Yi clan shifted from threats of force to moral denunciation.

He guessed that he had made a promise to these rats from the TV station before leaving, so he couldn't save face for a moment and hurriedly reached out to help the rats who had fallen up.

"Wang Yao, is this your companion?" Lady Lian turned to ask Wang Yao. She knew Wang Yao's identity and purpose in coming to the demon realm. When she heard Li Kui introduce himself and found that he was the same as Wang Yao, she couldn't help but ask him.

"Uh...that..." Wang Yao was so frustrated. He really wanted to deny it on the spot. This was too embarrassing. If he had known that Fairy Maiden would send this guy, he would have definitely told Wuying to refuse firmly. This guy was simply a troublemaker who was good for nothing.

But he quickly realized that Li Kui had probably caused a lot of trouble since coming to the demon realm. He guessed that Fairy Maiden and Caixia were also annoyed with him, which was why they sent this great immortal to their side. But... wasn't this just making things worse for him?

You two immortals can't possibly travel across five continents! You could just send Li Kui to any continent, why send him to your side? What are you planning? Is this some kind of "better to sacrifice your friend than yourself" mentality?

It's fine if you, Caixia, are so focused on your work and undisturbed by romance, but you can't make things harder for your partner's job! What can I say?

Wang Yao was inwardly grumbling, his thoughts flowing like the Yellow River, but he stammered, unsure how to explain it to Lady Lian.

After all, this guy's entrance was too dazzling. If he confirmed that she was on his side, Lady Lian might think that all the celestial beings in the Heavenly Court came from mental hospitals.

"I'm not his colleague! This guy is absent from his post for long periods without reason during work hours, without asking for leave, without reporting, and without even a phone call. Our investigation team isn't a restaurant where you can come and go as you please. I've decided to fire him from the team!"

Wang Yao hadn't figured out how to answer yet, but to his utter surprise, Li Kui started to deny it loudly. That was actually a good thing, to avoid any labor disputes. Wang Yao nodded to himself.

"Oh? So you and him aren't on the same side?" Lady Lian asked again, her voice now tinged with interest.

“That’s right!” Li Kui answered loudly.

"That's good. What did you just say? That you told my Yi tribe not to attack the Shu tribe?" Lady Lian nodded her big head and then asked.

"Yes, do you know that the wars between your various tribes are all due to the schemes of treacherous people? I came here specifically to make your tribes cease fighting and not fall into the trap of these treacherous people."

"I've put a lot of effort into this, and I even brought a film crew from the Shu ethnic TV station here. I wanted to analyze the cause and effect with you so that I could expose the villain's evil scheme to the whole mainland. But you've done the opposite, smashing the equipment and now the TV show can't be filmed."

Li Kui complained and spread his hands at Lady Lian.

"Hmm, in that case, I was indeed rash." Lady Lian nodded her large head again.

“Madam was indeed too reckless, but it’s not too late to retreat now. You should retreat quickly. As for the television and such, I’ll go to the Shu tribe later and have them send another one. There shouldn’t be any major problems.” Li Kui was overjoyed to see that Madam Lian was so sensible.

"Hmm, it seems that the Immortal has indeed put in a lot of effort to stop the villain's conspiracy, and even went so far as to invite a TV station. But I wonder if the Immortal knows which clan's land you are standing on right now?" Lady Lian asked slowly.

"The Shu tribe has already told me that this land naturally belongs to your Yi tribe. They even asked me and my wife to tell you that the Shu tribe will unconditionally return all the land they have occupied from your Yi tribe. You see, the Shu tribe is quite generous, unconditionally! Do you hear me?"

Li Kui stared with his big eyes and shouted loudly, as if afraid that Lady Lian hadn't heard him clearly.

"Then...did they tell you that they would help my Yi clan rebuild all these mud pillar buildings?" Lady Lian asked, pointing to the collapsed mud pillar buildings around them.

"This... I don't know this? These mud pillars were originally standing upright?" Li Kui stared wide-eyed, looked around, and muttered blankly.

"Oh, you didn't say so, did you? That's alright, but the Shu clan must have told you that they want to resurrect all my children who were killed, right?" Lady Lian asked calmly.

"Resurrected? How is that possible? People can't come back to life, even... even demons... it's the same..." Li Kui sensed something was off about Lady Lian's tone and stammered in response.

"You didn't say that either? Hahaha! That's a joke. The Shu Clan can attack, destroy, and kill the Yi Clan whenever they want. When the Yi Clan wants to retaliate, they send you, this inexplicable immortal, to negotiate peace. What does the Shu Clan think of the Yi Clan? And what do you, this immortal, think of yourself?"

Lady Lian kept asking questions amidst her loud laughter, but there was no trace of laughter in her voice.

“I…I am the deputy captain of the Heavenly Court investigation team, a…a division-level researcher…I…I wasn’t sent by the Shu Clan, it was…it was myself…that…traitor…traitor’s conspiracy…the Shu Clan…the Shu Clan has…already…unconditionally…unconditionally…”

Li Kui was still putting on a brave face, but his sunglasses had unknowingly slipped down to his nose.

"A villainous conspiracy? Even if it is a villainous conspiracy, do you think those rats are brainless? Don't you, an immortal, have a brain either? You think you can get away with wrongdoing? Unconditionally? One unconditional act can be a substitute for all the destroyed cities and murdered members of my Yi clan?"
