Chapter 266 Breaking the Talisman

Seeing that Lady Lian was about to kill him, Wang Yao was dumbfounded. After all, he and Li Kui were both members of the Heavenly Court's investigation team. If he watched as Lady Lian killed Li Kui, he would have a hard time explaining himself back in Heaven.

“Um…you should let him talk. Ask him why he’s gone crazy. He kept trying to kill me at first, but then he went and tried to kill you instead,” Wang Yao quickly reminded Lady Lian.

Lady Lian then realized that Li Kui wasn't ignoring her, but rather that he simply couldn't speak. Only then did she loosen the branches that were sealing Li Kui's neck, mouth, and nose.

However, although the branches loosened, they did not move away. Instead, they transformed into sharp arrowheads, pointing at Li Kui's eyes, mouth, and nose, as if they would pierce him immediately if he said the wrong thing.

"Cough cough cough... Sister, Tie Niu is out of his mind, please spare Tie Niu..." Li Kui was pressed against by the sharp blades that turned into red branches, and dared not move an inch. He coughed a few times and then called out to his sister.

"Stop trying to get close to me! Tell me, why did you hurt me?" Lady Lian shouted angrily.

"Sister, Tie Niu forgot about you. Tie Niu... Tie Niu just wanted to teach that brat surnamed Wang a lesson. Sister, you're so beautiful, and he doesn't even bother to talk to you. He's just busy looking at some weird talismans. Tie Niu is so angry..."

Wang Yao stared in disbelief as Li Kui uttered these words. He had been racking his brains for a way to save this guy, but it seemed he didn't need to worry anymore. It turned out this guy had been pretending to be stupid all along.

"This lady doesn't even have facial features, so how do you know she's beautiful? Stop talking nonsense." Sure enough, Lady Lian's tone softened a bit, but the red branches still didn't relax in the slightest, remaining firmly aimed at Li Kui.

"Lady Lian's beauty is beyond description. I heard about it in the Western Continent. She is truly famous throughout the Holy Domain. No demon is unaware of her. Everyone says that beneath your magnificent body lies a delicate and timid beauty. Tie Niu has admired her for a long time."

Li Kui said in a trembling voice.

"The Western Continent? My name has spread that far?" Lady Lian was half-believing and half-doubting upon hearing this.

"Of course, sister, do you know the Star Clan of the Near Western Continent? There's a girl named Momo at her Holy Domain Panoramic Tourism Company. When she heard I was coming to Dongchuan, she asked me if I knew Lady Lian's name. She said that Lady Lian is a unique beauty in the Holy Domain, and she admires her very much."

"MoMo? I've never heard of this person before!" Lady Lian asked in surprise.

Wang Yao scratched his head, completely unsure whether Li Kui was serious or just talking nonsense.

“MoMo is just an employee of a travel company, an ordinary working person. How could you possibly have heard of her? Think about it, even an ordinary office worker in the Near Western Continent knows your name. Isn’t your beauty renowned throughout the Holy Domain?” Li Kui continued.

"When Momo heard that I was coming to Dongchuan to see you, Madam, she gave me a 30% discount on my plane ticket. Speaking of which, Tie Niu's trip to Dongchuan was thanks to your sister."

At this point, the aggressive red branches surrounding Li Kui were gradually losing their sharpness. However, Lady Lian did not let Li Kui off the hook. She hesitated for a moment, and then the branches suddenly tightened again.

"Even if you've heard of my name in the Near Western Continent, what do you have to do with the Old Man of the Moon? He was merely breaking the divine talisman, so why did you kill him? And even injured me?" Lady Lian questioned again, but the murderous intent she had shown at the beginning was gone.

"Tie Niu has known since he was a child that beautiful women must be cherished and pampered. You can only keep coaxing them and always make them happy. But this guy surnamed Wang is only focused on studying his talismans and ignores his sister. Tie Niu offended his sister at first, so he doesn't dare to be presumptuous in front of her."

"Tie Niu saw that his sister was very kind to him, so he thought of persuading him to talk to her. Who knew that the man only had eyes for the talisman? When Tie Niu couldn't persuade him, he suddenly lost his mind and thought of teaching him a lesson, but he forgot that Tie Niu was on his sister's shoulder and accidentally hurt her..."

Wang Yao's eyes widened as he listened to Li Kui's ramblings. "When did you ever advise me, you son of a bitch? You just glanced at the talisman and then picked up the ghost talisman and flipped through it. I even advised you not to look at it carelessly, and you went crazy. You're blatantly lying to my face!"

"Tie Niu is a big bastard, sister, kill Tie Niu! Tie Niu hurt you, it breaks my heart! Waaah...waaah...waaah..." As he spoke, Li Kui actually started to cry, and large, round tears kept flowing down the bottom edge of his sunglasses.

"What are you crying for, you big man? Don't be afraid, I won't kill you. I'll take these axes for you. Since you're prone to getting dizzy, you should be careful. I'm strong, and I've only suffered minor injuries. If it were someone else, you would have killed them with one axe."

As Lady Lian spoke, the red branches covering her shoulders slowly receded, and Hui Shuo, Qing He, and Li Kui all fell down. Wang Yao glanced at Li Kui and secretly gave him a thumbs up. That bastard is a real actor!

"The Old Man of the Moon is deciphering the Ape-Elephant Divine Talisman. This talisman is related to the rise and fall of my Yi Clan, and I, as his wife, also value it highly. You must not interfere with him..."

Upon hearing Lady Lian's next words, Wang Yao suddenly realized what was going on: the Ape-Elephant Divine Talisman! That's right, where did the Ape-Elephant Divine Talisman go? He only saw the Ape-Elephant Divine Talisman emit countless rays of light as Li Kui's axe cleaved down, but he had no idea what happened to the talisman afterward.

He quickly looked at the spot where the ape-elephant talisman had been placed, and saw a few pieces of torn yellow paper lying there. He was about to pick them up to take a look when a gust of wind blew by, and the pieces of paper swirled and drifted away, leaving a deep groove cleaved by a sharp axe.
