Chapter 287 Preferential Treatment

"You just want to send me home, right? This is perfect for you," Qinghe said, glancing sideways at Wang Yao.

"Uh..." Wang Yao scratched his head. Yeah, what the hell is wrong with me?

"Hmph, I knew you had no good intentions. If you hadn't pulled me out, I would have shouted that you kidnapped me when things got out of hand. Let's see what you do then!" Qinghe said resentfully.

"Hey, is it really necessary?" Wang Yao was immediately alarmed. Although he wasn't afraid of Qinghe's antics, he felt that he and Qinghe had gotten along quite well along the way. However, he didn't expect that Qinghe was actually holding back a big trick to trick him.

"It's because you're still up to your old tricks." Qinghe glared at him fiercely, then strode off toward the traffic center exit.

"Police officer? I... how do I get out of here?" Qinghe reached the automatic exit barrier and, seeing that she was blocked, called out sweetly to the security guard at the nearby traffic center.

"Where...where is your ID card?" The security guard, shaking his rat-like head, leaned closer.

"I...I don't know, there were still some when I came..." Qinghe looked at the security guard with a mournful face.

"Go inside and get a replacement. There's a window over there for replacing ID cards. Thieves are rampant these days, and people who lose their ID cards often get them replaced there. But... it's quite rare for someone as powerful as you to lose your ID card."

The security guard pointed to the traffic center facing Qinghe Road, mistaking her for a powerful figure from the Shu clan.

"I...this is my first time visiting the Shu ethnic region, I don't know anything about it," Qinghe continued, pleading pitifully with the security guard.

"This is...the first time...you're a foreign guest?" The security guard's eyes widened in surprise.

“Yes, I just came from the Western Desert and I don’t know anything,” Qinghe said.

"Then... you didn't have any documents when you came here? And how did you get through the immigration channel? You can't get through the immigration channel without documents, can you?" The security guard was immediately puzzled.

"I don't know either. I've definitely got the documents, but I don't know where I put them now," Qinghe said, feigning ignorance.

"Then... could it have been left at the immigration checkpoint? You'd better go back and look for it. If you can't find it, there's also the Foreign Ministry's reception area for foreign guests and the cross-border reception area inside, where they can process ID documents for foreign guests." The security guard quickly pointed out to the confused female foreign guest.

"Oh dear, I can't wait any longer! I made an appointment to meet my friend, and it's almost time. Once I get inside, I'll have to search around and ask all sorts of questions, which will take up a lot of time. My friend is about to leave, and once she's gone, where will I eat, where will I stay, and where will I go for fun?"

Qinghe stamped her feet and started crying.

"Um... don't worry, don't worry. You don't have any identification, so the computer can't recognize it and I can't help you. How about... I go back with you and we can look for it together?"

"What's your friend's name? Even if he's gone, don't worry. I'll find his address and take you to his house. Wait a minute, I'll get someone to come and relieve me..."

As the security guard spoke, he reached for the walkie-talkie on his shoulder, seemingly determined to personally serve this foreign guest.

"Wait a minute! How about this... this fence isn't high, I'll jump over first to find my friend, and then go to my ethnic embassy tomorrow to reissue my documents, okay?... Please?" Qinghe quickly stopped crying and started to whine to the security guard.

"Jump out? This..."

The security guard blinked, not quite understanding the situation with the foreign guest. He couldn't say it wasn't allowed, but the guest was a foreigner, and this transportation hub wasn't some military restricted area. He'd never heard of any restrictions on foreign guests. If the person wanted to jump, he didn't seem to have any reason to object.

If we say yes, this foreign guest clearly doesn't have any identification; something does seem off, so we shouldn't agree so easily.

"Thank you so much, officer! I knew you were the best." Before he could even figure things out, Qinghe had already leaped out of the traffic center and turned back to give the security guard a sweet smile.

With that smile, Qinghe used her signature "seductive charm." The rat-like security guard stared at her, his eyes wide open, completely oblivious to anything else. He just stood there dumbfounded, watching Qinghe walk into the square outside the traffic center and gracefully disappear.

Wang Yao followed closely out of the traffic center, quickly catching up with Qing He. He was full of admiration; this little fox was truly formidable and should not be underestimated.

The two then asked a mouse passing by in the square for directions, and after finding out the way to the embassy district, they boarded a bus.

All public transportation in Cheese City is still free for foreign visitors. However, Cheese City is, after all, the capital of the Shu tribe, and its prosperity is far beyond that of other Shu cities. There are also many private rat taxis in the city. The passing rat suggested that they should take the bus instead.

After all, the quality of those unlicensed taxis varies greatly. Some unlicensed taxi drivers are obsessed with money and even have the nerve to ask foreign guests for money, which spoils the foreign guests' enjoyment.

It wasn't that Wang Yao and his companion were stingy or reluctant to spend a few yuan on a taxi; it was simply that they were short of money and wanted to conceal their identities. They were afraid of getting into a fight with a private taxi driver, which would expose their whereabouts and cause serious problems. So, they readily agreed to take the bus to the embassy district.

Actually, taking the bus is quite nice. Once you board, you can proudly say, "I am a foreign guest," and not only do you not have to pay for a ticket, but the rats on the bus will also stand up and give up their seats for you two. Even the old rat who is too frail to walk is no exception, which makes Wang Yao feel very moved.
