Wang Yao felt as if he had suddenly become riddled with holes, as if a gentle breeze could tear him to shreds.
"My son...cough cough...where are you?...cough cough...my son...cough cough..." Ao Guang's cries from not far away became desolate and sorrowful, mixed with constant coughing and wheezing, clearly indicating that he was also injured, but soon Wang Yao could no longer hear even this voice.
"Qing Ning, you'll have to give me an explanation for what happened today." The cold female voice rang out again. "Hand over these two immortals to Robin. Everyone disperse and immediately return to organize your clan's army to launch an attack on the Shu clan!"
"Tap tap tap..."
"The Matchmaker System has restarted. Now verifying all data..."
"The host's immortal body is normal; all indicators of strength and resilience have reached the system's level two setting..."
"The host's current system level is 15, merit points are 0, and points are needed to advance to the next level. Skill level is 6, skill points are 4008, and 5992 skill points are needed to advance to the next level."
"Spiritual power level 30, early stage of Foundation Establishment. Spiritual power value, requires 0 spiritual power to advance to the next level. Magic weapon level 25, mana value, requires 0 mana value to advance to the next level."
The whole world was pitch black, yet it seemed as if countless shards of glass were hidden within it, drifting about. Only when they got close would the deep darkness on each shard of glass mysteriously transform into various patterns, like a kaleidoscope.
"Hehehe..., isn't this invisible bondage quite enjoyable?" A hideous old man grinned shamelessly on the glass slab amidst a hoarse and sinister laugh.
"You damned little brat, you really kicked me hard!" A big yellow dog whimpered on the glass.
"Now you need to fill out a few forms..." A fat man took a stack of papers out of a brown paper bag and handed them over.
“I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to kill you now…” A beautiful woman frowned and stared at the glass shard.
“This is called the Awakening Order…” The beautiful woman held up a small, emerald-green bamboo stick on another piece of glass.
"You...I...you just need to take your medicine..." The beautiful woman seemed to be throwing a tantrum on another piece of broken glass.
"May Buddha have mercy! I am truly delighted to see such enthusiastic Buddhist believers in Huadu since my first visit. I am especially pleased to see benefactors Yu and Jiang..." A monk was speaking eloquently on a glass plate.
"Tap tap tap..." The monk then solemnly struck the wooden fish on another fragment.
"Help...help..." A woman in blue denim overalls seemed to be fainting, her eyes closed, her lips trembling as she murmured her plea for help on the glass shard.
"That's a person? How can you eat that? It's disgusting! You immortals wouldn't...?" The woman in denim overalls stared wide-eyed in surprise at another piece of debris.
“Coward, you’re a coward!” a woman shouted menacingly at the shards.
"That little fairy is strange, Thor, you go!" a foreign god screamed from the fragments.
"My son... my son..." came a mournful and desolate cry.
...
Suddenly, all the fragments began to spin rapidly, and the sounds and images all became mixed together. Only the cry for the son grew clearer and louder.
"Ah..." Wang Yao suddenly woke up, as if he were drowning, gasping for breath while looking around blankly.
A scruffy middle-aged man's head suddenly filled his entire field of vision. He blinked several times before realizing that this was none other than his cheap husband, Ao Guang.
"Where am I? I... I should be in the Liang tribe... Who was that last female voice? Could it be... could it be that Ao Guang saw I was in danger and surrendered?" Wang Yao was filled with doubts. He wanted to open his mouth to ask, but was surprised to find that he could not make a sound.
"He's awake! He's awake!" a clear female voice exclaimed in surprise.
The sound of the door opening with a "click" rang out, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps.
"Old Ao, move aside, let me see..." It was an older woman's voice.
"He's been lying there for over ten days, and he won't budge no matter who tries to persuade him..." A clear female voice carried a hint of reproach.
"Fairy...Aunt..." Wang Yao's face flushed red. Finally, he heard his own barely audible voice and breathed a long sigh of relief.
"He can talk now, he's talking..." The clear female voice suddenly became cheerful again.
"It's alright. The Star Lord said long ago that I would be fine. How could Mahayana's guarantee be false?" the fairy said calmly.
"But he... but he's been asleep for almost three months..." The young woman's voice was still somewhat uneasy.
"The Star Lord reshaped his immortal body and used lightning to cleanse it, allowing him to skip levels and advance to Foundation Establishment. Of course, he needs some time to recover," the fairy explained.
"Hey, Lao Ao, your good son is alright, get out of the way! It's strange, I've never seen you this attentive when your wife was in postpartum confinement." The fairy then urged Ao Guang, who had been holding up his large face plate to Wang Yao, to move aside.
When Wang Yao woke up, Ao Guang stopped calling out "Son... Son..." but he kept staring intently at Wang Yao without blinking. Wang Yao felt uneasy under his gaze and thought to himself that this guy probably realized that he and his son were not the same person.
“You’re too weak, you need to strengthen yourself.” Ao Guang seemed to have confirmed something, and finally moved his big face away, but then he walked away with a clattering sound, leaving Qing He’s beautiful little face and the fairy’s face in front of Wang Yao.
"It's alright. Your immortal body should be able to get out of bed and walk around in a couple more days," the fairy nun said, touching Wang Yao's forehead with her hand.
