Chapter 335: Broken Thoughts

"I'll tell you something, will you believe me?" Moropo suddenly smiled mysteriously at Qinghe.

"What is it?" Qinghe asked, feigning curiosity as she leaned closer.

Wang Yao also perked up his ears, only to hear Molupo recount his history of being disliked by women.

"...There were two people from Huadu, one of whom was a monk, who came and started spouting nonsense, trying to solve this problem for me. I chased them away. I'm so old, what haven't I seen? Even if people can't see me, I can see people!"

“Especially when people can’t see me, their expressions and eyes are absolutely genuine. I said you two don’t look like siblings because the way you look at him isn’t like a sister looking at her brother.” Mo Luopo pointed at Wang Yao and said decisively to Qinghe.

"You...you...then...then what do you think a younger sister should think of her older brother?" Qinghe was clearly flustered when Mo Luopo asked this, and her smile unconsciously faded.

“Then I can’t really explain it, but when I look at you looking at him, it does resemble the way a young woman looks at her lover.” Moropo then said something that greatly surprised Wang Yao.

"You... what nonsense are you talking about? I... how old am I? I'm not a young lady anymore!" Listening to Qinghe scolding Molupo, Wang Yao could clearly hear the tension in her tone.

“Whether I’m talking nonsense or not, you know in your heart. I’m just reminding you out of kindness. Although I’ve lived a wasted life, I’m still pretty good at judging people. Your brother has been the object of many women’s affections in our Ziqiang County,” Mo Luopo said with a smile.

"Look at him, he works from morning till night, does he ever rest? And no matter how busy he is, I've never heard him lose his temper. He doesn't talk much, and he seems very honest and reliable. What woman who wants to live a peaceful life wouldn't like a man like that?"

"If you don't keep an eye on it, someone will snatch it away sooner or later," Moropo threatened Qinghe, his eyes wide.

"You...you're just making fun of my brother and me. Why don't you find a woman yourself? You seem like a very honest and decent person. There must be many women in Ziqiang County who are interested in you, right?"

Qinghe, being a fox demon, reacted extremely quickly. She swiftly adjusted her emotions and began to steer the conversation toward the mission.

“Me? Your brother and I are nothing compared. I’ve seen far too much. What do those women want from me? Do they want my good looks or my ability to work? Or do they want the fishy smell I have on me?” Molopo chuckled self-deprecatingly.

“You just stopped talking, because I thought you were honest and law-abiding,” Qinghe said.

"Can honesty and integrity put food on the table?" Molopo laughed. "At least your family runs this shop, so you don't have to worry about three meals a day. But what about me? My harvest depends entirely on the weather. After I catch the fish, I have to sell them to earn money to eat."

“I’m already so old, wouldn’t people want to rely on me for the rest of their lives? But I can’t even rely on myself, how can I support another one?” Mo Luopo shook his head vigorously.

"You're just talking nonsense. You make it sound so miserable, but I don't think you've ever gone hungry. According to you, only a fool would get married. Wouldn't that just be adding to your burden? Does getting married mean there's just another mouth to feed in the house? As a woman, I have to have a serious talk with you about this."

Qinghe's expression turned serious, and she began to argue with Mo Luopo.

“First of all, we women have hands and feet, and we can earn our own money. If a man and a woman come together, they earn two kinds of money, but their expenses may not be two kinds. Don’t you think so? Is this a gain or a loss?” Mo Luopo was about to speak after hearing Qinghe’s words, but Qinghe continued.

"Besides, you used to handle all the big and small matters at home by yourself. Now that you have someone to discuss things with and help you, they say that one person's plan is short-sighted, but two people's plans are long-sighted. So, do you think this is a gain or a loss?"

When Qinghe finished speaking, Molupo was about to speak again, but Qinghe stopped him and continued talking on her own.

"You're always busy with this and that. Who cares if you're hungry? Who will take care of you if you're cold? Having someone at home to look after you and offer comfort and support, sharing joy and helping each other through tough times, isn't that better than living alone?"

"What's more, are you really willing to let your Mo family line end with you? To cut off the inheritance? We women earn money for you, work hard for you, and even bear your children. Why don't you appreciate it at all? All you think about is saving a mouthful of food?"

“Even if a woman eats as much as she wants, how can she eat you out of house and home? Look at your stingy appearance, it makes me so angry!” Qinghe glared at Mo Luopo and said hatefully.

After Qinghe finished speaking, before Molupo could utter a sound, Wang Yao broke out in a cold sweat. He never expected that Qinghe, who had only lived in the human world for a few years, could speak such profound truths about mortals. This was far beyond his expectations.

Wang Yao turned to look at Mo Luopo, thinking that after being scolded by Qinghe like this, he would most likely turn against her. After all, their relationship didn't seem to have reached that point yet, and Qinghe's words were a bit excessive and obviously too hasty.

Having offended Morobo today, it seems that it will be much more difficult to dissuade him from his desire to live a solitary life in the future.

Unexpectedly, he saw Mo Luopo sitting there, staring straight at Qinghe with his eyes seemingly filled with tears. Wang Yao thought to himself, "This old bachelor might have taken a fancy to Qinghe, right?"

“Mom…you…you look like…like my mother…” Mo Luopo murmured for a long time, then suddenly called out to Qinghe’s mother.

Startled by his call, Qinghe froze, unsure how to respond.
