Chapter 343 Letters

Bruce Lee and Bissef were not usually very talkative. Sometimes Bissef would tell Bruce Lee stories about the students in his class. On the second night after Bruce Lee moved in, Bissef gave him a book to read when he had nothing to do.

However, Wang Yao felt that Bruce Lee seemed to be more interested in television than books.

In the early hours of the third day, Wang Yao decisively turned off the "sensing". He couldn't stand the consumption of spiritual energy from such constant monitoring day and night. He was too lazy to go down the mountain to find a hotel, so he simply found a thick tree in a secluded part of the mountain and climbed up to hide.

He would only extend his "sense" to the other side during key times each night to see how things were developing, but his mood became increasingly depressed, and he even began to doubt whether he had arranged their marriage.

Judging from the cold relationship between Bissef and Bruce Lee, I'm afraid that even if they were locked up together for eight or ten years, nothing would change.

On the evening of the seventh day, during dinner, Bisif told Bruce Lee about a child in his class who had written a love letter.

“…What’s wrong with kids these days? They’re so young, and they’re already writing that kind of stuff!” Bisif said, his voice clearly agitated.

"This little guy is talented. He won't end up a bachelor like me." Bruce Lee felt he should praise him.

“How can you be like this? How old are you compared to him? Is that something a child should do?” Bisif remained as serious and earnest as ever.

“No matter how old I am, I’m not as good as him. He dares to write it, but I don’t have that kind of guts.” Bruce Lee continued to defend the young lover. Wang Yao perked up at the sound of this, as he seemed to detect a hint in Bruce Lee’s words.

“Is that what you call courage? That’s called immaturity! At such a young age, what does he know about dating?” Bisif seemed not to have grasped the meaning behind Bruce Lee’s words, his mind still on the child.

"You know what, I really don't know what dating is. Do you know? Tell me about it?"

After hearing Bruce Lee's words, Wang Yao couldn't help but secretly give him a thumbs up. The kid hadn't let him down after all the effort he had put into saving him; he knew to take the initiative.

"What's there to say? Didn't I give you the book? Don't you know how to read it?"

Unexpectedly, Bruce Lee's attack was coldly blocked by Bisif. However, Wang Yao still sensed something was amiss: the book that Bisif gave to Bruce Lee was probably not simple at all.

"Um...you...you're good-looking, well-educated, and have a good job...how come...how come you're still single?" Bruce Lee hadn't really looked at the book. He was embarrassed by Bisif's question and quickly changed the subject.

“I…I haven’t always been single…” When this topic came up, Bisif lowered her head, looking somewhat flustered.

"You're not... then are you divorced or what?" Bruce Lee pressed.

"You really want to know?" Bisif hesitated for a moment, then suddenly raised his head and stared coldly at Bruce Lee.

“Of course!” Bruce Lee also stared at Bisif with wide eyes, seemingly puzzled.

“I’m a jinx to husbands; whoever marries me won’t live more than three years!” Bisif said to Bruce Lee, word by word.

“K...you...are you serious?” Bruce Lee blinked and stared at Bisif.

“Why would I lie to you? Do you want to see my ex-husbands’ death certificates? There’s a whole drawer full of them, all on the bedside table.” Bissef pointed to her bedroom.

Bruce Lee followed Bisif's finger and looked toward her bedroom, then turned back to look at Bisif. His eyes were wide open, his mouth was half-open, but he couldn't say a word.

"Scared now? If you're scared, then shut up and eat!" Bisif looked at Bruce Lee and sneered.

"Who said I was scared? I... I just didn't expect this..."

"Hey, what are you doing? We're eating, you...you didn't think of anything?" Bisif's tone suddenly changed, and he leaned back, seemingly struggling slightly. Wang Yao was shocked to find that Bruce Lee had actually grabbed Bisif's hand that was holding the rice bowl.

“I…I never imagined you were such a tragic person. You…you’ve lost so many husbands. You must be very sad, right?” Bruce Lee ignored Bisif’s struggles, held her hand tightly, and asked with a face full of affection.

"At first, I was a little... but later... I got used to it." Seeing that she couldn't break free, Bisif stopped struggling and instead straightened up, put the rice bowl on the table, and tried to make her tone calm.

"Don't be sad. You just hadn't met me before. If you marry me, all those problems will be over."

When Bruce Lee realized that Bissef's attitude wasn't so resistant, he suddenly became bolder. He put down his rice bowl, plopped down next to Bissef, put his other hand on her shoulder, and started making random wishes.

"I've been thinking about you so much these past few days that I haven't been able to sleep. I thought you looked down on me, but it turns out that's what you were worried about. Don't worry about me at all, I'm not going to die!"

“Aren’t you afraid? I’m telling the truth. The shortest-lived one of my wives died coughing up blood less than six months after marrying me.” Bissef didn’t reject Bruce Lee’s abruptness, but instead sneered at him with a sidelong glance.

"Let me tell you something you don't know. I may not have many other strengths, but I'm incredibly lucky! You saw me being chased, right? The assassin was right under my nose, but he didn't make a move. You saved me, didn't you?"

Bisif's tacit approval emboldened Bruce Lee. He gently pulled Bisif into his arms and spoke to her softly.

"When the factory was in trial production, the two people in front of me fell off the ladder into the synthesis kettle and were boiled into porridge. That's why they couldn't transfer me there. As a result, I've been working there for five years without any problems!"
