“They’re not brainless, but they’re a pack of wolves and tigers!” Wang Yao coldly interrupted Caixia.
"They will not give up their cannibalistic nature. For them, whether or not they eat people is just a matter of timing. If the timing is not right, they will temporarily endure it and even disguise themselves as humans. But as soon as the time comes, they will inevitably show their sharp fangs."
"You... I don't think we can talk anymore. You should leave." Caixia was interrupted by Wang Yao and felt inexplicably tired. She suddenly realized that Wang Yao wasn't just talking about those foreign gods and goddesses; he was actually including her as well.
As she herself said, she was not only a foreign goddess born in the Western world, but also a foreign goddess who believed that the Western world system was superior to the Six Realms system. According to Wang Yao, wouldn't she also become a jackal and tiger ready to devour people at any time?
It's a shame that she's known Wang Yao for so long and always thought of him before acting. Yet, she's left such a hateful impression on Wang Yao that she can no longer muster any interest in continuing to communicate with him.
“You…” Wang Yao had not yet guessed the change in Cai Xia’s thoughts, but he also realized that after talking for so long, he had not changed Cai Xia in the slightest. She was still the same Cai Xia Fairy who believed that the foreign system was more free and superior.
The initial enthusiasm he felt upon first meeting had long been chilled to the bone by the mountain wind sweeping across the snow. Wang Yao took a deep look at Caixia, then turned and slowly walked down the mountain. Even if he liked Fairy Caixia very much, he couldn't accept a world like the Yangjie.
As the saying goes, those who walk different paths cannot make plans together; he and Caixia could only part ways like this, going further and further apart.
"You child, you start arguing as soon as you meet. Why did you stop talking before you even finished what you were going to say?" Suddenly, an old voice rang out from the mountaintop. Wang Yao and Cai Xia couldn't help but turn their heads to look. They saw a withered old man leaning on a cane, appearing on the top of Luoyun Mountain.
“I have nothing to say to him, consider it me being nosy!” Caixia seemed unsurprised by the old man’s appearance and said loudly.
“How can that be? You and I have been begging him to give us a chance. Since we’ve already agreed, he has to make a choice. But don’t worry too much, this kid isn’t very bright, and there’s a good chance he’ll make the wrong choice,” the old man said with a smile.
“I…I regret it. I shouldn’t have given him any chance. He’s determined to treat the Western Realm as an enemy. If he becomes more capable in the future, he might really become a destabilizing factor in the Six Realms,” Caixia said resentfully.
"It's not that easy," the old man replied with a smile. With a slight movement, he was already beside Caixia. He beckoned to Wang Yao, who was standing not far away. "Hey kid, come here! How dare you call my beautiful granddaughter a wild beast? You deserve punishment!"
Before the old man finished speaking, Wang Yao felt a chill on his head, as if his beautiful hair had been shaved off by the mountain wind in an instant, and his head became a shiny bald head in the blink of an eye.
Wang Yao felt a chill run down his spine, and was even more astonished. "Little granddaughter"? Who else in the Six Realms could call Fairy Caixia "little granddaughter"? Could this old man be Fairy Caixia's ninth-generation maternal ancestor, the Heavenly Emperor?
"Ancestor, you're talking nonsense! I...I don't care anymore, do whatever you want!"
Caixia was both ashamed and angry when the old man exposed her secret. But when she saw Wang Yao with his bald head and bewildered expression, she couldn't help but laugh. She was caught in a dilemma, unable to decide whether to laugh or not. In a fit of anger, she stomped her foot and disappeared.
The old man ignored Caixia's departure and instead, while using his free hand to knead the shaven tuft of hair on Wang Yao's head, he smiled and looked at Wang Yao.
"You...you are the Heavenly Emperor?" Wang Yao asked the old man uncertainly.
"That's right, seeing the Venerable Laoben descend, why don't you hurry up and kneel down?" The old man nodded, but a sly smile appeared on his face.
“I’m not the matchmaker anymore, why should I worship you?” Wang Yao hurriedly shook his head.
"Oh ho, kid, you've got quite a temper." The old man wasn't annoyed at all. He was still kneading Wang Yao's hair with one hand. Wang Yao noticed that his hair had turned into a dark clump in the old man's hands, changing shape at will in his palm, just like clay.
"I'm sure you heard what Fairy Caixia and I said. In order to maintain good relations with the foreign world, the Heavenly Court wants to strip me of my position as the Matchmaker. I am but a lowly immortal with little power, so naturally I have nothing to say."
Wang Yao bowed deeply to the old man. After all, the old man was the Heavenly Emperor and much older than him. Although he was resentful of being stripped of his authority as the Matchmaker, there was no need for him to throw a tantrum, as that would be too rude.
"However, I still have to say one more thing. Whether I act as the matchmaker or not is irrelevant, but the Six Realms must never be mixed into one like the Ocean Realm. You have seen more roads than I have eaten meals, so you should understand this principle. If the Six Realms are broken, I will never agree to it."
"I'll take my leave!" Wang Yao said, straightened his back, and turned to walk down the mountain.
The Heavenly Emperor is Caixia's direct ancestor, and she is just an ant under the Heavenly Emperor's feet. She doesn't need to guess who the Heavenly Emperor will support. That's why he shaved her head bald as soon as they met. If he continues, it will only be to brainwash her and change her view of the foreign world.
In exchange for the choice that the Heavenly Emperor just mentioned, damn it, if the Heavenly Court and Caixia are on the same page, I'm not even sure if I'd be willing to become an immortal, so who the hell cares about that choice?
Caixia still had to maintain her image and engage in a polite verbal battle with herself. This Heavenly Emperor was clearly the type who preferred action to empty talk. If she talked too much with him, she would be in danger of losing everything except her hair. So why not just slip away and get out of there!
