Above his head were thorny branches covered in brambles, and below him were thorny roots. Apart from his hands, he couldn't let any other part of his body get close to the thorns, or he would get injured if he wasn't careful.
"Ouch, damn it!" Wang Yao's hand slipped, and a thorn slashed across his right hand, tearing a long gash in his palm. The wound stretched from his wrist to the base of his fingers, the skin and flesh torn open, dripping with blood. It was a truly horrifying sight, and Wang Yao couldn't help but curse.
"Ouch, damn it!" Wang Yao winced and pulled back his right hand, but unexpectedly, his left thumb was pricked by a thorn buried in the soil when he exerted a little force. The tip of the thorn easily emerged from his fingernail, and damn it, his thumb was pierced through.
"Damn it!" Wang Yao cursed inwardly, secretly blaming Mr. Zuo for being a bad person who had sent him to do such a disadvantageous job. He hadn't even knocked down a single thorn, but he had almost lost a finger.
He calmed himself down a bit, endured the pain and continued to try, but after a short while, he accidentally cut several more wounds on his right palm.
"Damn it, this is too much of a rip-off, I can't do this!" Wang Yao said sullenly, throwing his hand away and sitting down on the ground. But he quickly stood up and looked down at his right hand.
There were several wounds there, but apart from the one where the skin and flesh were still torn open, the newly cut wounds were only slightly open. Although blood was still flowing out, it was not nearly as serious as the first injury.
Wang Yao stood there blinking a few times. In his memory, the force of the first and second hand injuries was not much different, so why were the results so different?
He pondered for a moment, then cautiously returned to the edge of the thorn bushes, extended a finger and pressed it against the thorns, but then his body jolted and he quickly withdrew it.
He looked down at his palms and fingers, then gritted his teeth and pressed his thumb, which had just been pierced, back onto a thorn. The thorn easily pierced his finger again. Wang Yao gritted his teeth and endured the pain, staring at his fingernail as he pressed harder.
However, this time the thorns did not pierce his finger. Wang Yao hesitated for a moment, then extended another finger.
After a while, Wang Yao withdrew his hand and looked around blankly. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he immediately abandoned the thorn bushes and ran eastward along the farmland.
Since the thatched houses on the east side had been completely demolished, the surrounding fields were completely visible to Wang Yao. He could only see a few figures moving around in the fields. It was Mr. Zuo with a few children watering the crops. None of the villagers who used to pick up stones by the fields were there anymore.
"Mr. Zuo, I want to ask you for a favor!" Wang Yao called out as he walked to the edge of the field.
"What happened to your hands? Quickly go and ask Doctor Wang to bandage them!" Mr. Zuo exclaimed in surprise as he saw Wang Yao's blood-soaked hands at a glance.
"My hand is fine, could you... give me some clothes to wear?" Wang Yao waved his hand and said. The wound on his hand had already scabbed over, and although it looked gruesome with its red and black patches, it was actually not a big deal.
"Clothes?" Mr. Zuo looked at Wang Yao in astonishment, not understanding what he meant.
"Well, this outfit was a gift from a friend in the Celestial Realm. I'm worried that the Migration Thorns might damage it, and it would be difficult to explain when I get back. Could you give me a change of clothes so I can keep things running smoothly?" Wang Yao shamelessly pleaded.
“I see. I didn’t think that through. Why don’t you go to the weapons group? We’ll handle the relocation of the thorns ourselves,” Mr. Zuo said, frowning.
"No need, no need, I love doing this job, I love it so much, I don't want to do anything else, I... I just need to change my clothes, look..." Wang Yao hurriedly swore that he would definitely move the thorns.
“Well…we can only spin coarse cloth here, not clothes of such good quality as yours.” Mr. Zuo looked at Wang Yao, still seeming somewhat conflicted.
"It's alright, I'm not particular about clothes at all. You can just give me a piece of cloth to cover myself. It's not that I'm afraid it'll be too vulgar and ruin the good atmosphere of our Dark Moon Village. I'd like to strip naked and work myself!" Wang Yao hurriedly shouted.
"How can that be? Come with me for a moment. I have a change of clothes. See if they fit." Seeing that Wang Yao was adamant, Mr. Zuo did not insist any further. He led Wang Yao to the large thatched hut that had just been built that morning and found a few pieces of cloth in a corner.
It's a wonder Mr. Zuo has the nerve to call this "clothes." It's just a few pieces of cloth strung together with thread, enough for a pair of pants and a shirt, barely enough to cover one's modesty.
However, Wang Yao didn't care anymore. He quickly stripped off his spiritual energy clothing. Since the spiritual energy clothing was an external object, it could be taken off, folded, and stored away. Wang Yao folded the white suit and placed it where Mr. Zuo originally kept his clothes, and then put on Mr. Zuo's cloth.
The piece of cloth was clearly too small for Wang Yao, as if he were wearing a pair of big shorts and a vest.
“This…is too small, isn’t it? Maybe…” Mr. Zuo frowned as he looked at Wang Yao. He was a withered old man, and the clothes were really unsuitable for Wang Yao.
"It's nothing, it's nothing, it's perfect, there's nothing better than this." Wang Yao shook his head repeatedly. He didn't even say goodbye to Mr. Zuo, and ran northwards.
After a short rest, the members of the disguise team had a quick lunch and then arrived at the thorn forest to the north. To their astonishment, they found a naked man darting in and out of the thorn forest, covered in blood, with wounds that would make even the gods shudder.
