Chapter 367 Bloodbath

"That's all for now. Be careful and protect yourself. Don't let the demon bastards find where you're hiding," Mr. Zuo said with a smile to Wang Yao.

“Actually, I can also help you defend the entrance to the secret passage. We can hide in the hut after the demons come up.” Wang Yao noticed that the tips of each of his arrows were also coated with a layer of black, and he could faintly smell a fishy stench when he brought them to his nose.

"Be careful not to hurt yourself; the poison is still very potent," Mr. Zuo warned him cautiously. "We don't have any more weapons for you, and your mission is to lure the demons down the mountain after we die. The entrance to the secret passage... isn't really that important."

"Do you know where the demon was killed? He was shot down by Instructor Tao halfway up the mountain as he flew towards the summit." Before Wang Yao could reply, Mr. Zuo continued speaking to himself.

“High-level demons won’t obediently use the secret passages; they’ll just fly directly to the mountaintop. All we can do is draw their attention to the west, north, and south of the village, keeping them as far away from the Burial Abyss as possible.” Mr. Zuo waved his arms, his smile incredibly bitter.

"The fate of our Darkmoon Village is already sealed, but as long as the secret of the Burial Abyss can be preserved, this battle will not be lost, do you understand? So you don't need to..."

As Mr. Zuo was speaking, suddenly colorful fireworks burst into the sky all around, accompanied by a series of sharp screechs. His expression changed, and he looked at Wang Yao with a stern expression.

"The demon cubs are attacking again. I have to hurry back. Don't spill the poison eel juice. You absolutely must remember to stay alive! Find a way to lure the demon cubs away!" Mr. Zuo reminded Wang Yao again before turning and rushing toward the entrance of the secret passage.

Fireworks continued to bloom one after another, and the surrounding villagers shouted loudly. Wang Yao stood blankly in the village, feeling as if he had become an outsider again.

The camouflage team seemed to have woken up as well, and they were running towards the weapons team. Wang Yao looked up at the sky, where the Milky Way was dazzling under the glow of fireworks.

Suddenly, a black dot grew larger and larger between the fireworks and the Milky Way. It was a man with intricate tattoos on his face, his eyes were icy cold, and black wings spread out behind him like those of an eagle as he swooped down toward the mountaintop.

Just as Wang Yao was stunned, the eagle-like man swooped down, and a lone member of the disguise team screamed as he was grabbed and lifted into the sky. Soon the villager's screams stopped abruptly, and his wildly flailing limbs went limp.

His body, under Wang Yao's gaze, shattered like paper amidst the embers of fireworks in the night sky.

Pieces of severed limbs fell to the ground and onto the roofs of nearby huts with a "crackling" sound, like silhouettes of a man throwing away the villager's remains. The man moved slightly, let out a sharp whistle, flapped his wings, and swooped down again.

"Clap clap clap..." A flurry of arrows shot towards the man from the ground, but he was not afraid at all and continued to dive straight down. The arrows hit his body and fell off weakly, none of them posing a threat to him.

"Get out of the way!" Wang Yao suddenly heard a loud shout. A man who was shooting an arrow into the air not far in front of him crashed into a thatched hut next to him with a "bang," and grass clippings and dust flew everywhere.

Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, Instructor Tao suddenly appeared where the man had just stood. He spread his legs apart, leaned slightly backward, and with a "click," a bow was slowly drawn in his hand.

Wang Yao could see with his naked eye that Instructor Tao's body seemed to suddenly grow larger, and the air around him seemed to ripple slightly. An arrow coated with poisonous eel juice was aimed at the man flying in from the sky in Instructor Tao's hand.

The man seemed to sense Tao Jiaotou's killing intent. As he swooped down, he flapped his wings and suddenly did a somersault, soaring into the sky. But just then, fireworks exploded haphazardly all around again, and a dark shadow stealthily swooped down from behind the crowd, about to reach the mountaintop.

"Well done!" Instructor Tao shouted calmly, turning his body. However, before he could shoot an arrow, the black shadow flapped its wings and dropped a large number of dense black dots. Then, the black shadow flapped its wings, turned around, and flew up into the sky.

The large group of black dots fell down, smashing through a large cluster of thatched huts near the group with a "crashing" sound, and many more landed directly on the ground.

Immediately afterwards, the thatched huts in the village collapsed one after another with a loud crash, and black dots bounced strangely from the huts and roads toward the villagers who were nearby.

It turned out to be a large group of evil demons. Before the villagers could react, they had already pounced on many of them. These evil demons were extremely cunning, targeting women and children. Suddenly, a chorus of shrill screams from women and children rang out around Wang Yao.

This place was originally the location of the weapons squad, which was mostly populated by women and children. When the demon attacked, they immediately lost their composure. Men in the west and north heard the screams of their loved ones and rushed to save their wives and children.

In an instant, demons leaped and bounded about in the entire Darkmoon Village, and figures rushed back and forth. Shouts and screams mingled together, creating complete chaos.

Wang Yao saw a demon leap onto a child's face and instantly peck out the child's eyes. The child waved his hands and screamed in agony. A large group of demons crawled all over a woman's body. The woman flailing her arms and legs, screaming, and fell to the ground.

It was as if Wang Yao had returned to the scene of his first trial, except that it was no longer him who was being devoured by the demons, but the women and children of Darkmoon Village.
