"I'm not eating or staying at the hotel, I'm looking for someone." Wang Yao carefully examined the waiter, but couldn't see any resemblance between him and Feng Huan. He then turned to look at the customers dining in the restaurant.
"Um... if you're looking for someone, go look on the main street outside. Don't bother our customers." Upon hearing Wang Yao's words, the waiter's smile vanished instantly, and his expression turned quite unpleasant.
"Wangcai, the guests at table number 9 need their food. Go and look after them. I'll take care of this guest." A short, fat man with big ears called out in a hoarse voice and rolled over to Wang Yao like a ball of flesh.
"Excellent! A bucket of Sun-Shooting Fragrant Rice for table number 9. Every grain is crystal clear and sticky, its aroma intoxicating, and its taste leaving a lingering fragrance in your mouth. This delicacy shall be served immediately!"
Upon hearing Fatty's greeting, the waiter's face miraculously cleared up, replaced by a genuine smile, and he squeaked away, leaving Wang Yao behind.
"Sir, we still have a top-class room available, 3,000 taels of silver per night, no credit allowed," the meatball said to Wang Yao in a serious tone.
"I'm not staying at the hotel, I'm looking for someone." Wang Yao glanced around at the customers in the shop, but didn't see a single person with any air of otherworldly grace, let alone Feng Huan. Hearing the meatball still vaguely soliciting business, he couldn't help but feel quite impatient.
"Pay upon check-out? That's fine! Xiao Chan, the top-class room is ready, hurry up and come pick it up!" Unexpectedly, Rouqiu seemed to have Wang Yao's approval and took it upon himself to reserve the top-class room for Wang Yao. Judging from his words, he would also call a maid to pick him up.
"Damn it, can't you understand human language or what? I..." Wang Yao was about to get angry at the meatball when suddenly a beautiful woman came out from behind the shop. She had delicate features and a graceful figure, and she had the air of a fairy. His cursing words immediately went back down his throat.
Even if this person isn't a fairy, it's still nice to have a few words with her. There's no need to rush to leave this Yue Lai Inn.
"Sir, please follow me." The beautiful woman walked gracefully to Wang Yao, smiled at him, and said sweetly through her lips.
"Okay, okay..." Wang Yao nodded repeatedly. With such a beautiful woman leading the way, he wouldn't care even if there were mountains of knives and seas of fire ahead.
"Uncle Fatty, I'd like three more catties of She Ri Chun wine. Tell this little cicada sister to serve me the wine!" a customer suddenly shouted.
"Nonsense! Our Xiao Chan only serves guests in the top-tier rooms. Go drink with Wang Cai," Rouqiu yelled.
"Guests at Table 6, three jin of She Ri Chun wine! Every drop is mellow and rich, with a long aftertaste. One jin can embolden the cowardly, two jin can shatter the fierce demon, and after three jin, even the Demon Lord will have to bow down at our feet! This is a special wine for the gods, and it's served right now!"
The waiter, Wangcai, had just served a bucket of rice to table number 9 when he heard that table number 6 wanted wine, and immediately started screaming excitedly.
"Hey...hey...where's Sister Xiao Chan? I don't know..." The customer at table number 6 shouted anxiously, but the waiter Wang Cai didn't care about him. In no time, he brought out a jar of wine, which made the customers in the shop burst into laughter.
Wang Yao followed Xiao Chan through the shop, lifted a thick curtain, and came to the backyard of the Yue Lai Inn.
But what they saw was a small garden, full of colorful flowers and plants, its fragrance rich and its colors vibrant, a world apart from the desolate scene of the inn's facade after the disaster.
Beyond the garden stood a two-story wooden building, its beams and rafters exquisitely carved and painted. Wang Yao was secretly amazed, thinking that it was no easy feat for the house to survive intact during the ravages of the demon army.
"Please come upstairs, sir." Xiao Chan noticed Wang Yao's slight hesitation behind her, so she turned around and gave him a sweet smile. Wang Yao's heart fluttered, and he immediately followed her upstairs without a second thought. Although they were not far from the shop, the sounds inside were completely gone.
The surroundings were extremely quiet, with only the soft sound of Wang Yao and Xiao Chan stepping on the wooden stairs as they went upstairs.
Upon reaching the top floor, Xiao Chan led Wang Yao to a door at the very back. Pushing open the door, they found themselves in a spacious hall. Hanging in the center was a painting depicting a man holding a wine cup, looking up at the sky, seemingly enjoying a hearty drink.
He was accompanied by three women. One of them seemed to have been worn away by the passage of time, while the other two were lifelike. One was playing the pipa, and the other was tilting her head, as if she was talking to the man.
On either side of the painting is a couplet: "In the cave, there is no sun or moon; one can only drink and sing softly. In this humble room, there are seasons; one need not worry about the stars shining brightly."
Xiao Chan gently closed the door behind Wang Yao. As soon as the door closed, Wang Yao immediately felt that the whole room had suddenly changed. The central hall was still the same central hall, and the furnishings in the room were still the same, but the atmosphere had changed in an extremely strange way.
Immediately, Wang Yao saw the man and two women on the screen float down gracefully. The little figure grew taller with the wind, and by the time the three stood in front of him, they were no different from ordinary people. The man was indeed Feng Huan, Feng Xian.
As for the other two women, he recognized the one who was empty-handed; she was none other than the fairy Li Shishi.
"Hey Wang, no wonder we found this divine and demonic forging process so difficult. Turns out it was you who was behind it all!" Feng Huan shouted at Wang Yao as soon as he stopped.
"What are you saying?" Wang Yao was already a little dizzy from the scene, and when he suddenly heard Feng Huan's attack, he was completely confused.
“We can’t blame the Old Man of the Moon; we didn’t remind him beforehand.” Li Shishi smiled at Wang Yao, then turned to Feng Huan and said.
