Wang Yao had originally thought that the fairy image in the painting, worn away by time, was actually Xiao Chan. But now, seeing her clearly defined features in the painting, washing her clothes by the stream with her hands down, there was no trace of peeling or damage left.
As soon as Xiao Huan moved, Li Shishi, Wang Zhaojun, Feng Huan and the others also changed their expressions drastically. They rushed to the painting one after another. Before Wang Yao could recover, there was a loud bang, and wood chips and dust flew everywhere. A large hole had been torn open in the roof above his head.
Immediately afterwards, a god descended from the sky, standing proudly with his hands behind his back in front of Wang Yao.
"General Shan?" Wang Yao looked at the divine general with great surprise. They were just talking and didn't use any magic. Why did this guy come to their door?
General Shan looked around the room with his hands behind his back, then looked at Wang Yao, who was staring in disbelief, with a puzzled expression.
"Are you all alone here?" General Shan asked, frowning.
“Uh…yes…ah! I’m heading to Gale Fortress. I’m tired from the journey, so I’m resting here,” Wang Yao said.
"You should have had two bursts of spiritual energy disappear here before. Did you run into an enemy here? I have a feeling that there is more than one blacksmith upstairs." General Shan frowned and looked around the room again.
"How is that possible? I'm the only one here, and I haven't used any magic since I settled in. How could you have found me here?" Wang Yao exclaimed in surprise.
"You don't need to be nervous. I have received the divine decree and will not make things difficult for you." General Shan shook his head, his eyes still searching around the room.
"Not using immortal techniques doesn't mean you can't detect the forger. If you stay in the forging space for a long time, the forger's every move will carry special spiritual energy traces. It's just that your cultivation level was low before, so the traces were extremely weak. Once you reach the Nascent Soul stage or above, the traces will be very obvious."
"Otherwise, how would we distinguish between the forging immortals and the immortals who come to my divine realm to travel?" General Shan said calmly.
So that's how it is. Xiao Chan and Teacher Luo are both at the Nascent Soul stage, but why could General Shan spot Xiao Chan but not Teacher Luo, who was entertaining guests in the restaurant lobby? Could it be that Teacher Luo has already been captured by them without them even noticing?
After listening to General Shan's explanation, Wang Yao pondered silently. It was indeed strange that there was still no movement coming from the hall.
The room was simply furnished. General Shan checked it several times but still couldn't find the secret in the painting in the central hall. He kept looking at Wang Yao, clearly wanting to ask him but unable to make up his mind.
"What a waste of such a nice building. It wasn't destroyed even when the demons passed through, but you smashed it up." Wang Yao looked at the hole in the ceiling and couldn't help but grumble.
"Um... General Shan, please continue your investigation. I need to hurry to Gale Fortress, so I'll take my leave now." Upon hearing Wang Yao's words, General Shan raised an eyebrow and was about to speak when Wang Yao hurriedly cupped his hands in greeting, turned around, opened the door, and stepped out.
Since General Shan couldn't discover the secret in the painting, staying here would only be superfluous, since he couldn't help but keep glancing at it. So, the best course of action was to leave.
General Shan watched Wang Yao leave from behind, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper, but he never uttered a word to stop him.
As Wang Yao stepped out of his room, he saw General Pei standing at the entrance curtain of the hotel lobby across the garden downstairs. Teacher Luo was standing opposite General Pei with her head drooping, looking dejected. Wang Yao was shocked to discover that General Pei seemed completely unaware of Teacher Luo's identity as a blacksmith.
After all, given the nature of these two rangers, if they discovered that Teacher Luo was a blacksmith, wouldn't they immediately start killing him? Unless Teacher Luo is, as Wang Yao just boasted, a good buddy with these two rangers, but isn't that just bullshit?
But then they heard General Pei speaking to Teacher Luo in a kind manner, while Teacher Luo wore an expression of deep sorrow at the sight of her building being destroyed.
"...Don't worry, we will compensate you for the damage to your house..." General Pei's words reached Wang Yao's ears.
Wang Yao clattered as he walked down the stairs. At that moment, General Shan emerged from the room with the broken roof. He stood behind Wang Yao and shook his head at General Pei downstairs. General Pei immediately revealed a strange smile and turned to look at Teacher Luo again.
"Boss, don't we look like we've met somewhere before? Let me take a look, that fat guy I know has a weakness, that'll make him easy to spot..."
Wang Yao had already descended the stairs and lost sight of General Pei and Teacher Luo. He noticed that General Pei's tone of voice had become quite strange.
Then, Teacher Luo's raspy voice, now distorted, rang out.
"Eek... Ah... Ouch, young general, I can't take this anymore, ouch... Young general... please let me go... Ouch... Ouch... Ouch... Hahahaha... You damned, damned little brat..."
"Boss, why are you running away? Don't run away... I promise I have no other intentions... I just wanted to verify if you are the fatso I know. Don't run away, don't run away!"
A commotion erupted in the garden, and Teacher Luo's voice became extremely complex. He first begged General Pei for mercy, but soon burst into shrill laughter, and his accent unconsciously returned to the familiar one that Wang Yao knew. Then, he became incredibly audacious and started cursing without any regard for the consequences.
General Pei's voice, however, was always cheerful, with a kind of excitement like a cat playing with a mouse.
Wang Yao was very curious. He quickly walked down the stairs and into the garden, where he saw General Pei reaching out his hands and constantly reaching under Teacher Luo's armpits. Damn it, it was amazing that these two scouts could come up with such a thing. He was actually tickling Teacher Luo's skin!
