Chapter 390 The Battlefield

"Commander Yue, you mustn't!" Zhang Xian hurriedly exclaimed. "The main god going into battle is extremely risky! As the commander-in-chief of the three armies, you absolutely cannot put yourself in danger. I think you should stay in the central army, and leave the main demon to me, Yun'er, Wenlong, and me!"

"You, a newly promoted main god, can kill the opposing main demon with two true gods? That's a joke! If I, the commander, don't step in, how will we achieve our primary objective?" Yue Fei glared and shouted sharply.

"Opportunities in battle are fleeting. How can we be afraid of the enemy in the face of battle? If necessary, not only will I, the commander, take action, but if the flames of war reach the foot of the War God City, do you think the God Lord will avoid the battle? If everyone has nothing else to say, then obey my command!"

Amidst shouts, Yue Fei produced a series of golden, round tokens in his hand, which Wang Yao noticed were in the shape of a shield and axe crossed.

"Gao Chong, listen to my command!" Yue Fei shouted.

"Your subordinate is here!" Gao Chong answered loudly, stepping forward from the crowd.

"I order you to lead your troops and the forces of Zhang Xian and Yue Yun to continue to garrison Gale Fortress. Once Partridge Village is captured, the demon army's retreat will be cut off. Based on my consistent understanding of the demon race, they are very likely to disregard their retreat and launch a strong attack on Gale Fortress."

"No matter how much pressure you face, you must hold the line and not retreat even a step. You are a crucial link in this annihilation of the demon army. If anything goes wrong, you'll be asked to answer with your head!" Yue Fei said loudly.

"Yes! With me here, those demon bastards won't be able to set foot in Gale Fortress." Gao Chong took the token from Yue Fei, carefully put it in his pocket, and turned back to the ranks of the divine generals.

"Yang Zaixing, listen to my command!" Yue Fei shouted again.

"Your subordinate is here!" Yang Zaixing strode up to Yue Fei.

"I order you to immediately lead your troops, along with my own and Lu Wenlong's forces, to attack Partridge Village via Catfish Market. You must remember that speed is crucial on this journey. You must arrive at Partridge Village before the demons know of your attack plans to achieve a surprise attack."

"Quickly close the retreat route of the demon army between Partridge Village and Gale Fortress. After you occupy Partridge Village, the demons of Mingsha City will likely launch a fierce attack on it. You must hold it there at all costs, and do not retreat even a single step without my order!"

"Whether this battle can achieve its primary objective or not, your role is also crucial. While Zhang Shuai and I are dealing with the main demon, we will provide you with support as needed. You must remember, speed, speed, and more speed!" Yue Fei earnestly admonished Yang Zaixing.

"Rest assured, General Yue, I will definitely complete the mission!" Yang Zaixing accepted the token, then turned and left the hall.

"Niu Gao, listen to my command!" Yue Fei continued to deploy his troops. Wang Yao gradually understood that Yue Fei had set up an ambush. By occupying Partridge Village, Gale Fortress, Catfish Market, and Wild Wolf Bay, he had locked the demon army between Gale Fortress and Partridge Village in a pocket.

Then the main army marched towards each other from Wolf Bay and Catfish Market, and attacked Reed Camp. Yue Fei himself, along with Yue Yun, Zhang Xian, and Lu Wenlong, lay in ambush near Reed Camp. Once a major battle broke out in Reed Camp, the four of them would rush out and find an opportunity to kill the enemy's leader.

"Commander Yue, I advise you to reconsider. In this great battle, not to mention the divine soldiers and generals below, the risk to you is quite significant. If anything happens to you, wouldn't we be in a situation where we have won but have lost? As long as you are safe and sound, even if this battle is not successful, it will not affect the overall situation!"

“I thought the Reed Camp had at most one main demon. With some preparations from Xiaoyun, Wenlong and I should be able to take it down. I advise you to stay in the central army and guard Gale Fortress with Gao Chong.”

"If the main demon of the Reed Camp were to escape and attack Gale Fortress, a chief god would be needed here to oversee things!" Seeing that most of the generals had left the meeting hall, Zhang Xian tried to persuade Yue Fei.

“My mind is made up. Even a lion uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit, so you should know how difficult it is to kill a Demon Lord, let alone in the midst of a massive army. If the four of us don’t come up with a good plan beforehand, we might not be able to kill him,” Yue Fei said with a smile.

"This...shouldn't we find out which main demon the other party is before we can formulate a countermeasure?" Zhang Xian asked in astonishment.

"So, we need to hurry up and head to the Reed Camp to scout out their main demon and figure out their background. Then we need to come up with a plan to ambush them. Time is of the essence, we can't afford to delay any longer." Yue Fei smiled and turned to look at Wang Yao, who had been watching the excitement from the sidelines.

"Wang Xian, I have important matters to attend to and cannot continue to accompany you. Please stay at Gale Fortress for the time being and keep Gao Chong company."

"It's alright, Gao Chong and I are good friends too," Wang Yao said hastily.

"Very good, let's go!" Yue Fei called out, leading Zhang Xian and the other two quickly out of the conference hall.

"Wang Xian, do as you please, I need to get busy too." Gao Chong watched Yue Shuai and the other three leave, then turned to greet Wang Yao before hurrying off as well.

As Wang Yao walked out of the conference hall, he saw a large group of divine soldiers and generals coming from behind the castle. Some of them dispersed into various parts of the castle and stayed inside, but most of them left Gale Castle directly through the main gate. The entire Gale Castle was bustling with divine soldiers and generals coming and going.

Since he had nothing else to do, Wang Yao simply followed the divine army leaving the city. As soon as he left Gale Fortress, he saw several divine soldiers laying out huge shields on the outer wall of the castle. He recognized the shields very well, as each one had a large axe embedded in the center.

"What are these for?" Wang Yao stopped and asked a general who was directing the laying of shields below the city.

"This is a defensive barrier, specially prepared for this great battle," the divine general replied.
