Chapter 393 Defense Line

A divine general lay face up on the wreckage of a machine gun smashed into several pieces. A huge, bloody wound between his eyebrows separated his eyes, but the expression in both eyes was surprisingly the same: they were wide open, filled with disbelief and astonishment.

The remaining giant bows and other equipment were all single-shot, and they were the most damaged. On each piece of damaged equipment, there was often a bloodstained god lying on it. Some of the corpses were severely damaged, but they still maintained their fighting posture.

The demons' encirclement was getting smaller and smaller, gradually closing in on the roaring multi-barrel rocket launcher.

The multiple rocket launchers finally stopped firing, and the seven or eight high-ranking generals who had gathered together scattered. They probably realized that the situation was beyond saving, so instead of assigning one of them to operate the equipment, they all rushed towards the demons attacking from all directions.

A divine general wielded a large axe, with shimmering arcs of light appearing around him, as if the remnants of the axe's swings had lingered around him. The divine general let out a roar and charged into the demon army.

In the blink of an eye, a group of demons with broken limbs and legs fell beside him. The other divine generals were in similar condition, killing dozens of demon generals with a burst of power, further expanding the encirclement.

The demon army dispersed slightly, and a ray of sunlight, like a spotlight on a stage, shone on the several divine generals surrounded by the enemy. A sharp whistle rang out, and then several powerful demons jumped down from the sky, rushing directly towards the surrounded divine generals.

These were clearly high-ranking demons like the Heavenly Demons and Fiend Demons. Previously, they had hidden behind the main army, using lower-ranking demon generals as cannon fodder. Now, to prevent the high-ranking generals from breaking through, they finally took to the field themselves.

The Heavenly and Fiend level gods and demons are equivalent to immortals who have transformed into gods or experts who have refined their illusory realms. Every move they make has destructive power that can overturn rivers and seas. As soon as they start fighting, sand and stones fly and trees are broken one after another. In no time, the entire military camp is reduced to a barren wasteland.

However, the sky above the camp suddenly brightened up. The demon army had already surged into the other two camps, leaving only a few powerful figures to continue fighting each other. But the demons continued to send in high-level powerful figures from time to time, gradually creating a situation of two against one or even three against one.

In Wang Yao's opinion, the high-ranking generals still had a chance to break through during the battle. However, whether it was to guard against the underhanded tactics of the demons or to be bound by military orders, they did not choose to escape but persisted in fighting the demons in place.

The axe-wielding deity had released the axe, which seemed to come alive, circling around him. At the same time, the arc-shaped light and shadow around the deity were also spinning rapidly, looking as if countless points of light were flickering around him.

Meanwhile, the divine generals themselves paced slowly, their eyes slightly closed. After the powerful demons attacked, the divine generals had already switched from offense to defense, no longer trying to kill the enemy, but simply protecting themselves.

On the demon side, three demon generals attacked the axe-wielding god general from both sides. One of the demon generals had a head full of dense dreadlocks, which were his weapons. He kept trying to attack the god general from various angles, as if a bunch of eager snakes were coiled on his head.

The other demon general was a skinny fellow, as thin as a bamboo pole, and his weapon was also a thin stick that looked like a bamboo pole. He seemed unable to walk on his own two legs. Not only did he attack by pointing and poking with the bamboo pole, but he also had to use the bamboo pole to support himself on the ground in order to move flexibly in a step-by-step manner.

Although he had to rely on the bamboo pole for all his movements, he was the most agile of the three demon generals. Without careful observation, his figure was barely visible. In the battle, one could only see a blurry black shadow constantly circling around the axe-wielding god general.

The last demon general was burly and carried an anchor with a long chain. He hadn't actually attacked once since he came down, but had just coldly watched the axe-wielding god general as he slowly moved around, clearly waiting for the other two demon generals to create an opportunity for him.

Wang Yao discovered that at the Heavenly and Fiend levels, both sides were extremely cautious. Even when the Demon Clan formed a three-on-one situation, they never made any rash moves, but instead kept probing to find the weaknesses of the Axe-wielding Divine General.

The Axe-wielding general guarded himself tightly, leaving no chance for the three demon generals. The other battle groups were in a similar situation, as if they were just wasting time or competing with each other in patience.

After watching for a while, Wang Yao became impatient. The situation in the other two military camps was not good. He began to think about how to return to Gale Fortress. He had long since given up any thought of taking action. He couldn't get involved in these battles between powerful figures.

While they were pondering, a soft "snap" sound suddenly rang out in the battle. It was because one of the braids of the demon general with dreadlocks had collided with the axe of the axe-wielding god general who was moving around. In the blink of an eye, the braid was cut off by the axe.

Just as the axe severed the braid, the axe-wielding god's aura paused slightly for a moment. The bamboo pole demon seemed to have been waiting for this moment, and almost instantly, a dark shadow crashed into the defensive circle painstakingly constructed by the axe-wielding god.

With a loud shout, the axe-wielding god general unleashed a burst of light and shadow that converged upon the bamboo pole demon general. The bamboo pole demon general, however, retreated rapidly amidst the countless shimmering lights and shadows, leaving behind a series of black afterimages, much like a wisp of smoke amidst falling petals.

Just then, the demon general holding the anchor moved. With a shout, the anchor in his hand suddenly flew up, accompanied by a heavy gust of wind, and struck the axe-wielding god general like a meteor.
