Chapter 403 City Lord Lin

Wang Yao didn't understand what the gibberish foreign language was saying, but the fact that there were foreigners here was undeniable. He had a long-standing feud with the foreigners, and he feared that his reckless intrusion into this place was like a lamb entering a tiger's den.

The foreign language seemed to chatter incessantly like birdsong. Wang Yao looked in the direction of the sound and found that it came from a pavilion hidden among the plants to the east. He could see in the distance that there seemed to be a round table in the pavilion, and several demons were talking to a foreign god at the table.

The foreign god seemed very excited, gesturing wildly and shouting incessantly. A demon next to him kept nodding his head, seemingly translating for the other demons, but his voice was so soft that it was hard to hear what he was saying.

Just as Wang Yao was about to listen closely, Liang, the head constable, gently nudged him. It turned out that they had followed the long-robed demon to the foot of the wooden building, but they were not going to go inside. Instead, they turned to the front of a small hill next to it.

On the side of the hill facing the wooden building, there was a dark stone door. Tianmo led the two directly through the stone door into the hill. Inside the hill was a slowly ascending, unlit stone passage. It felt like a long distance, and Wang Yao and the other two walked inside for quite a while.

After leaving the small hill, a beautiful mountain peak suddenly appeared before us. There was a path leading directly up the mountain, and a stream flowed around the peak, accompanied by cheerful sounds of water. Beside the stream was a courtyard filled with plants, and deep within the courtyard, a palace-like building with upturned eaves could be faintly seen.

Tianmo led Constable Liang and Wang Yao through the courtyard and directly into the wooden building. Once there, the voice of the foreign god could no longer be heard.

In the center of the building was a courtyard. Tianmo led the two up the stairs on the right. After climbing only a few steps, Wang Yao smelled a strong aroma of wine and meat.

In a room upstairs with a wide view, Wang Yao saw several demons who were completely drunk. At the host's seat sat a burly man with a fair complexion and three long tufts of beard. On the man's forehead was an embroidered pattern the size of a copper coin, resembling a raccoon cat.

"Lord City Lord, Liang Yongqi and Wang Yao have been brought here." The Heavenly Demon bowed to the burly man as he entered the room and reported.

"Lord City Lord, Chief of the Bureau..." When Constable Liang saw the diners in the room, his expression changed immediately, and he knelt down with a thud, kowtowing repeatedly.

The pale-faced giant straightened up, and Wang Yao saw a fine mist of water vapor burst open around him with a "whoosh," instantly making the giant's slightly tipsy eyes clear and sharp.

To the left of the burly man, in the main seat, sat a sallow-faced, thin-looking demon who smiled and nodded slightly at Wang Yao.

"Officer Liang, please stay for a drink. Wang Xian, please go next door to talk." The burly man stood up and waved to Officer Liang.

"Alright, alright..." Head Constable Liang nodded and bowed as he got up, hunched over and sat down on the table. Tianmo gestured for Wang Yao to go into the next room with him, poured Wang Yao a cup of tea, and then took his leave after settling in.

Wang Yao didn't have to wait long before the pale-faced giant and the gaunt demon arrived together. Neither of them spoke when they saw Wang Yao. The gaunt demon sat down and carefully examined Wang Yao with his eyes. After a while, he turned around and smiled and nodded at the pale-faced giant.

“It is exactly as Brother Lu described,” said the gaunt demon.

"Your name is Wang Yao, and you're friends with Lord Lu Da of Yongye City?" the pale-faced giant asked.

"Quack, not bad." Wang Yao nodded in response.

“My brother Nalu said you are an eloquent immortal, but I see no fluctuation of your spiritual power, yet you utter strange sounds. What is the reason for this?” The thin demon looked puzzled.

"Quack, quack, I am the blacksmith, quack, to prevent the cavalry from hunting me, quack, I used some tricks." Wang Yao explained with difficulty to the thin demon.

"Oh..." The slender demon suddenly looked at the pale-faced giant.

"You should abandon that method. In my City Lord's Mansion, no one from the Demon Realm dares to cause you trouble." The pale-faced giant shook his head.

"Croak, very good." Even if the burly man hadn't said that, Wang Yao couldn't hold back anymore. He was already extremely tired of this guy making frog croaking noises as soon as he opened his mouth. Hearing the burly man speak, he immediately stopped his "deception" technique.

"Hmm, your method of concealing the fluctuations of your spiritual energy is quite good, but your voice has become a bit too eerie." As soon as Wang Yao withdrew his method, the thin demon's eyes lit up, and he stroked his short beard and laughed.

"My brother Lu also said that you and Li Kui were friends in the Immortal Realm?" The pale-faced giant didn't seem to care much about Wang Yao's "deception" and continued to ask.

“That’s right, I worked with Li Kui in the Heavenly Court’s Special Investigation Team.” Wang Yao nodded.

"Hmm... Officer Liang said you know a secret passage to the Demon Realm that leads directly to the God Realm's Ocean of No Return?" The pale-faced man pondered for a moment before asking again.

“Not bad,” Wang Yao said.

"What exactly?" The pale-faced, burly man stared intently at Wang Yao.

Now that Wang Yao knew that the pale-faced giant was a brother of Lu Da and Li Kui, he naturally stopped hiding it and explained the location of the Sky Pillar to the pale-faced giant in detail, as well as the secret passage to ascend the Sky Pillar.

"How did you know such important information that involves the gains and losses of both realms?" Wang Yao had just finished speaking when the thin demon suddenly interjected, stroking his beard.

"Um... one of my trial missions happened to fall on Optimus Prime..." Wang Yao recounted his experience in Darkmoon Village in a slightly different light. The reason he went to Darkmoon Village was naturally the most appropriate excuse of a trial mission. As for the battle with the demons, of course, he had to ignore it.
